  1. The Kerbpaint.dll from linuxgurugamer. I suspect I also need other files I am not aware of.
  2. Excuse me then, I am rather new to this forum and haven't seen this brought up before. Yes I am aware that each individual player has their own way of playing a single player game and was just curious about other people's opinion on the subject. This is hardly something I would imagine would lead to bickering and personal attacks, this isn't politics.
  3. There are many things that us KSP players do that some would consider cheating and others justified. Here's a small list of things that may be a little controversial: Using mods that can be considered making the game easier, MechJeb Delta V readouts like Kerbal Engineer Using ScanSat to find easter eggs Using HyperEdit to replace a ship eaten by the Kraken Using HyperEdit to replace progress lost due to game crash Using launch window planners or other types of assistance Abusing bugs of any kind, even if it is just warping a ship to cancel torque Using cheats to deploy the solar panels you forgot to deploy Excessive use of parts considered unrealistic ..and many others I am not aware of right now. What do you consider cheating? Discuss.
  4. You mean before launch right? After launch it can be done by right clicking and selecting "Control from here." Yeah I think it's a bug as well, but it does compound the problem.
  5. One particularly frustrating experience I frequently have when I am launching rockets with multiple probe cores is the default control reference point is not pointed up with east to the left, as about everyone is used launching rockets with. This is especially a problem with rovers or anything else with a skycrane, which normally has more than one probe core. This issue forces you to attempt to clip the camera and right click the desired probe core, which isn't always easy. Even worse, sometime the reference point switches when you go into orbit view, in the middle of the launch as you check your apoapsis, causing your rocket to spin out of control.
  6. While the LVT-45 does have slightly less thrust, it works out more economical by not needing to pay for fins. You don't need fins if you know how to fly your rocket. While yes, a spaceplane does have cargo size limitations, they do replace the LVT-30/45 engined rockets for the small cargo niche later in my game.
  7. It is better to use an LVT-45 with thrust vectoring than and LVT-30 with fins for small payloads because vectoring works in a vacuum and thin upper atmosphere. Regardless, both engines are rendered obsolete in late game by spaceplanes.
  8. You can get around this by creating a maneuver node wherever the game allows you to, then move it across to the orbit where you want to create the maneuver node on. It's still annoying though. Personally what bugs me most is the intercept marker flashing around or straight up disappearing. It got especially bad with 1.1.
  9. @Red Iron Crown In my experience, gravity assists only work if the assisting planet is between my destination. Like getting an assist from Eve to Moho or Jool to Eeloo. I can't seem to get assists from Eve to Jool for example because my ship will be moving faster than Eve at the encounter, ensuring that I will encounter Eve from behind which will give me the opposite effect of what I desire.
  10. Lack of interesting landscapes on planets.
  11. I once had poor Bill getting slowly fried by a mining rig. Poor guy, not the best way to go.
  12. The extra 5 ISP of the Poodle generally doesn't make up for it being three times heavier than the LV-909, making the latter a more useful engine. The Poodle does have some use as a lander engine where extra thrust is needed, but for orbital maneuvers the LV-909 and the LV-N are better engines.
  13. I've always believed that the current planets should be made interesting before we add more. Right now all you can find on planets are 2-3 ground textures and maybe another feature like an atmosphere or ocean. When you've landed on one spot you've pretty much seen it all. No more planets should be added before that is changed.
  14. The RoveMax XL3 rover wheels really puzzle me. I never really tried those wheels due to the lack of a perceived reason to use them, as well as the difficulty of inserting objects of that size into orbit. So when I recently tried them out on Kerbin and other bodies, a few oddities struck me. First of which is that their motors only seem to work on the initial acceleration and then doesn't go fast. However when you rapidly alternate between turning left and right by tapping A and D, you can move over 90 m/s. That is on Kerbin, I cannot seem to find a way to use them on low gravity moons at all, which is another thing that puzzle me. The rover just keep spinning and hardly ever brakes. I have no such problem with the other wheels as long as I don't drive overly aggressively. Maybe I need to tweak a bit on the traction settings?
  15. The point of SRBs isn't to get delta-v, they are there to get your thrust to weight ratio high enough for the initial liftoff. Although they have terrible ISP, they are generally cheaper than using the L/Ox Engines to achieve the same effect, and the bad ISP doesn't matter much as they are quickly discarded.
  16. The ease of making a craft with a positive twr does make the jet engines feel a bit overpowered. I am pretty sure though that ramjets don't work at low speed though.
  17. When your SAS gets turned off on the night side of Kerbin in the middle of a maneuver because you forgot to supplement your probe's tiny battery.
  18. It seems that Kerbalkind's greatest technological achievements achievements lies in jet engines and harvesting energy. Whilst their rocket technology is almost up to par with ours they have jet engines with enough thrust to get into a suborbital trajectory by themselves. They also have highly efficient solar panels and RTGs with unlimited lifespans which is a little ahead of our level of power generation tech.
  19. I am having a real hard time with the orbit lines and encounter markers lately. Especially the latter. Whenever I try to encounter anything lately, the purple and orange encounter markers flash around and disappear when I need them most, giving me a real hard time to encounter just about anything. Is it broken for anyone else too?
  20. There's no worst engine for me, just a couple of ones that I find limited uses for. The Reliant iis quickly rendered obsolete obsolete by the swivel. Sure it is slightly more powerful but it does not have the thrust vectoring that's needed for a gravity turn. Using the thrust vectoring engine works out cheaper than relying on winglets. The Aerospike is a jack of all trades but ends up being master of none. It's got decent ISP on atmosphere and vacuum, but in neither situation is it the best. I only use it in early career spaceplanes and Duna landers. The Puff finds no uses for me because I can't think of a situation where I only rely on monopropellant as fuel. The Flea is quickly rendered obsolete by other SRBs, yet I do use it on occasion for the lightest of launches. The Vector's power is between that of a Skipper and a Mainsail, yet it is more expensive than the latter. It doesn't have much use outside of building shuttles. It may be useful for an Eve ascender as one can put them on decouplers unlike Mammoths, but I haven't gotten to that yet.
  21. Obviously I meant 1.1.3 made my game crash a lot more. Granted, I did install a few more mods.
  22. 1.1.2 was almost perfectly stable for me, then 1.1.3 came...
