  1. Besides the fact that their is no point as others have mentioned the distances involved. Now assuming message delivery time was much more reasonable (<10 years to instantaneous) we don't know what the WOW! signal said (assuming this is an actual ET signal) . If we do get a signal that is 100% from an extraterrestrial creature we would first have to decrypt the signal. It just might not want to be something we respond to.
  2. It is time to go to bed but I am concerned about losing my train of thought.
  3. I am trying to program an enigma machine in python. Right now I am just writing another script to give me the dictionaries I need because typing out all the dictionaries does not sound fun at all.
  4. While not a new movie by any means, a couple friends and I are planning on watching the classic Alien!
  5. Personally, as others have said sometimes you need a break from a game or games in general. That's normal. If I were you, I would limit the amount of time I'd play a day to something reasonable to something like two hours a day. While I am personally struggling with this right now, going to bed at the same time every day can help a lot with mental health. Make sure you are also exercising and getting outside everyday. The latter will be harder in the winter however even a little is fine.
  6. This is the first Soyuz launch I’ve stayed up to watch
  7. I think the OP is trying to perform real world rocket science here.
  8. I hope that wasn't a banking error as they might just take $500 out of your account.
  9. MATLAB sounds like what you're looking for however a standard license will also cost you $150. Writing a Matlab script is like programming in any other language. On a hobby scale, fine throttling is not achievable. If you plan on making bipropellant engines, you'd have to have a lot of metal working skills and the equipment to be able to do so. I would try to refine the scope of your project not only so we can give you better advice but so you can identify everything you will need to meet the goals of your project.
  10. So is the next update going to be from the ESA/JAXA mission?
  11. My understanding from the very little amount of reading I have done on the topic is that the abundance of sulfuric acid would kill any life from Earth.
  12. This is the only reason why I support the continued development of neuralink. Every other use case, while revolutionary carries extreme risks on a level we have never seen. When Bitcoin ransomware attacks started flourishing a few years ago, several hospitals were infected (pun unintended). There will be a security flaw that WILL be found. There is a real potential for an abuse of that security flaw to not be detectable, such as the Meltdown which affects intel CPUs. While I do not know what the malicious use cases of Nuralink are, I know for a fact that should they become mainstream the results will be catastrophic.
  13. I’m going to the Univeristy of Alabama in Huntsville. Depending on where I stand I can see the S-II skirt up on the Saturn V and just the CSM and LET of the S1B at the Space and Rocket Center. Also under one of the overpasses on Campus, someone has spray painted the phrase “Trust No One” I’ll be uploading a photo of that soon.
  14. This would make the logistics of space exploration so much easier. I assume that the time dilation doesn't change the radiation levels which would mean less shielding is required for the trip. A "few day" trip for the crew would also mean the bulk of the provisions could go towards the exploration portion of the mission and not the journey portion.
  15. This fall I am starting my freshman semester as an Aerospace engineering student. Good luck finding a job!
  16. My dog followed me around the day of a super bad storm. The top of one of our pine trees broke off. The winds were so intense a pair of doors were blown open. About 10-15ft away there were raindrops on my laptops screen. Now whenever my dog follows me around I check the weather.
  17. My last one was a photo of Mars but I am looking to change it up. Just looking for inspiration.
  18. They appear to be concrete cable anchors to me
  19. A cable has snapped at 2:45am on 8/10/20 which resulted in a 100ft hole in the dish. The cause of the failure is currently unknown. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vice.com/amp/en_us/article/9358be/a-broken-cable-has-wrecked-one-of-earths-largest-radio-telescopes https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sciencealert.com/a-broken-cable-smashed-a-huge-hole-in-the-arecibo-observatory/amp https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.slashgear.com/massive-arecibo-radio-telescope-suffers-more-damage-from-cable-incident-11633036/amp/
