  1. In the movie, you can see some people on Mars, but in real life, nobody has ever went to Mars.
  2. Hooray! There are two kinds of mods: mods that add new stuff, and mods that fix missing stuff that should be in stock. I feel that Kerbal Engineer's ÃŽâ€v display falls into the latter category - a failing in stock that needs to be compensated for by downloading an external fix. People mod Kerbal Space Program to make things, and play things, that fit into those two categories. They want new features that shouldn't or won't be in stock (RSS, weapons), or there's a problem in stock that they need to patch over. If I was more relenting on my stock purism (), I would install KE, but that doesn't mean I'd like doing so. For problems with wobbly rockets, I use the low-tech solution: adding a lot of struts to everything. Unlike the low-tech solution for not knowing your rocket's ÃŽâ€v (manually calculating everything), this doesn't take five whole eternities that I don't have.
  3. Presently, I find building spacecraft in (stock) Kerbal Space Program to do anything more elaborate than go to the Mun incredibly frustrating. This is for one simple reason – I have no idea how much delta-v a rocket has when I build it. This is fine for short-term flights, such as those within the Kerbin system, since there’s a quick turnaround in flights – I can launch, reset, and launch again. But, as flights get longer, more and more of my time on Kerbal Space Program is spent not actually doing anything other than failing another spacecraft launch halfway to Duna because I didn't bring enough fuel. Without knowledge of how far a spacecraft travels, they tend to be either massively underprovisioned, or massively overprovisioned; both of which are quite bad, especially for career mode. The solution to this is to put a delta-v readout somewhere, probably in the menu where one can already see the mass and size of the ship though I’m no interface designer so whatever.
  4. - Send useless Kerbal VIP X to location Y EDIT: Thanks Squad!
  5. But now it's relevant, since the next update is going to add more contracts!
  6. When looking at the three ostensibly different game modes, I realised something: they're all exactly the same game, just with one difference: they have different sets of currencies! Sandbox has none activated, Science has only science activated, and Career has all three activated. Now, there's one problem with this: there's no point on them being different modes. The same thing could be achieved a lot better if when creating a new game, there were three checkboxes to toggle the three currencies. This also opens up new gamemodes. Want a budget, but no research or reputation (like most career-oid rule systems on the forums)? You can! Want reputation, but no other currency? Of course! Hate capitalism, but still want to have reputation and research? You can do that! And, what's more, Squad wouldn't have to add an infinite* number of gamemodes to achieve this - just three checkboxes. *actually 8 Summary: Remove the gamemodes, add toggling of currencies.
  7. I just hope that it doesn't end up as magically being able to turn a single resource found almost everywhere into any type of fuel.
  8. If anywhere, it would probably be somewhere in the persistence file. Look through the start of there somewhere. EDIT: It's there, right near the start. It should look something like this: PARAMETERS { preset = Hard FLIGHT { CanQuickSave = True CanQuickLoad = False CanAutoSave = True CanUseMap = True CanSwitchVesselsNear = True CanSwitchVesselsFar = True CanTimeWarpHigh = True CanTimeWarpLow = True CanEVA = True CanIVA = True CanBoard = True CanRestart = False CanLeaveToEditor = False CanLeaveToTrackingStation = True CanLeaveToSpaceCenter = True CanLeaveToMainMenu = False } EDITOR { CanSave = True CanLoad = True CanStartNew = True CanLaunch = True CanLeaveToSpaceCenter = True CanLeaveToMainMenu = False startUpMode = 0 craftFileToLoad = } TRACKINGSTATION { CanFlyVessel = True CanAbortVessel = True CanLeaveToSpaceCenter = True CanLeaveToMainMenu = False } SPACECENTER { CanGoInVAB = True CanGoInSPH = True CanGoInTrackingStation = True CanLaunchAtPad = True CanLaunchAtRunway = True CanLeaveToMainMenu = True } DIFFICULTY { AutoHireCrews = False MissingCrewsRespawn = False BypassEntryPurchaseAfterResearch = False AllowStockVessels = False IndestructibleFacilities = False } CAREER { StartingFunds = 10000 StartingScience = 0 StartingReputation = 0 FundsGainMultiplier = 0.6 RepGainMultiplier = 0.6 ScienceGainMultiplier = 0.6 FundsLossMultiplier = 2 RepLossMultiplier = 2 } } This is the Hard difficulty preset. What each number does is pretty obvious.
  9. I'd accept that if Pluto became a planet again, as long as Ceres, Haumea and Makemake became planets as well.
  10. or turning it off in the difficulty settings, like I do.
  11. Saying you can use this to make autopilot so MJ might as well be bundled with stock is like saying that you can use the VAB to go to space so you might as well just install hyperedit. EDIT: Quick and dirty autopilot to ascend to orbit.
  12. Do you think that Virgin would do this if they weren't almost certain they would achieve their goals?
  13. I launch a different flight for every single "science from space around kerbin" contract. My subassemblies folder is empty.
  14. How does one do this if it's impossible to make threads on the topic?
  15. I get far too many of those "test launch clamps in space" contracts. Fix ur game Squad!!!eleven1 I also got a "plant a flag on Eve" mission after landing a probe there. Damnit game, I'm not that good!
  16. China has the largest labour force in the world and is eight hours ahead of my timezone (which is also how long I sleep). It's simply the most logical choice.
  17. Well yeah, but they do help. Either that or I can just post a lot and get reputation by sheer force of numbers. I'll just hire some chinese guys to post overnight while I'm asleep to maximise my reputation gain rate.
  18. I once made a bomber plane which used the bomb as a major structural element. Upon dropping it, it spiralled out of control. I can't land on the runway. I've never returned a Kerbal from somewhere outside the Kerbin system.
  19. So, it seems that Kerbals use masculine pronouns:
  20. So, it looks like I have a new goal for myself. Time to become a skilled KSP player, charismatic Youtuber and mod developer!
  21. I started playing KSP before subassemblies, and never really got used to the idea of using the same rocket for multiple payloads.
