  1. I'm looking at it again, and honestly the arrows may not be needed! Perhaps a couple of panels could be slightly lengthened to draw the reader's eye, but looking at it again a few days later, it does flow alright.
  2. It's been a while, but here's my submission for the graphic novel 'contest' you opened, @Kuzzter. It's certainly a different way of doing things, I really enjoyed telling a story in a different way!
  3. This is a neat challenge, @Kuzzter! I'm not very experienced with the graphic novel way of telling a story, but I may give that a try, once I've the time. Otherwise, I'd like to ask for feedback on my story, A Planet Divided (apologies for the somewhat roundabout way of reading it, the forum update borked the original thread). I've taken a bit of a hiatus to take another look at my grand plan as to how the story will go forward, and want to get some outside feedback on my writing so far. At the moment I think my biggest issues are my lack of frequency of updates and that I tend towards large walls of text, perhaps scaring off new readers. My thanks to you all!
  4. I mean, all in all, a necro of ~2 months isn't all that big of a necro; you're fine! I am indeed here, and slowly working on the next part. However, the more I think about the next few parts (particularly when they reach the Mun), the more I'm realizing that I need a solid plan going forward, just so I can tie together all the little plot points I'm introducing. In order to help me with this, is there any feedback? What do you guys want to see more of in the story? More rocket tests? Less character drama? A transformation into a geopolitical drama with no rocketry at all? (whoops, may have done that already ) Longer parts? Shorter parts with more pictures? Really, any feedback is immensely helpful, as the story I have planned may be very different than the story you guys want to read! Also, I'm not 100% satisfied with the new banner image, does anyone have any suggestions as to make it better?
  5. The mod author confirmed that explosions still do happen at high enough speeds, as well as when a part overheats.
  6. @NathanKell, while we're on the topic of stock craft, can you put down on your to-do list to fix the VTOL? The 1.0 engine update left it with too little thrust to actually take off. Perhaps reduce the fuel in the side tanks by half, or just add more boosters?
  7. It's been a while, but I seem to recall they had a screenshot showing parts from 0.16 or earlier either on the store or on Steam. They may be gone now, however.
  8. Easy there, I'm still being bombarded by finals! I promise to give it my best shot to get the next chapter out as a Christmas present to you guys though.
  9. Interesting; this may be a precursor to KSP mods on Steam. Or just a bug in the system, you never know!
  10. It's a heat shield, you place it on the bottom. Its name simply states that the supersonic region is where you do the most aerobraking (and hence experience the most heat).
  11. Not this century, anyway. Like others have said, there are loopholes in the laws of physics which provide for such things, but I don't think the political focus will be on researching such means for a good while yet (and ignoring the time it takes to actually develop such systems). There's just not a whole bunch of reasons to devote a lot of time and money into FTL travel at the moment, as other stars would take many years to get there regardless, and we don't really need it for intra-system travel as we don't have any colonies, etc. set up around the place (not that we'd need it for colony maintenance, but it's a nice thing to have)
  12. I agree, this should be included in stock and would improve rendezvousing by eye immensely. Of course, not to say I'm against improving the maneuver node planning system too, that needs work.
  13. Vanamonde may still have those images on his local drive, you may want to message him and ask if they're still around.
  14. Roverdude confirmed on Reddit that the base attach point is 2.5 metres, and contains enough space for a small payload, such as a rover, dude.
  15. Antennae do contain an option to 'send partial data', which will send data in smaller packets which individually take less energy to transmit, but don't get as much science back home. I believe there is no loss in doing so (i.e. the data sum of these packets is the same as if you sent the original data in full), but don't quote me on that! What's your power generation setup? If you're using solar panels, try to angle your spacecraft so that they point directly at the sun (you'll see that the 'sun angle' or whatever the thing is called displays a '1', or very close to it). This will bring in the maximum power to your vessel and potentially allow you to transmit the science home. Finally, if you don't mind cheesing the game a little, begin transmitting the data in full, then start to time warp. While data transmission is not affected by timewarp, power generation is, and so you will bring in more power over time (check the resources panel to see this in detail) while the charge drawn by the antenna doesn't increase. Also, welcome to the forums!
  16. I never visited the Boulder myself (I lacked the patience :P), but the famous Brotoro visited it and got some excellent photos: http://www.mindspring.com/~sportrocketry/ksp/magicboulder.html
  17. The fun thing about the new water system is that at high speeds, drag becomes lower (this is to assist with aircraft taking off from the water). Hence, the faster you enter the water, the deeper you will go. Try to deorbit the rock near the deepest point of Kerbin's ocean and hit the bottom. You shouldn't need parachutes, or any of that nonsense, just a lot of speed.
  18. As the ship's altitude is shown with respect to its centre of mass (I believe, not 100% certain, but the game definitely models it as a point when dealing with orbital mechanics), whenever this point goes above the Sphere's limit, you leave that Sphere. It doesn't matter if your ship is 20 metres or 2 km long.
  19. This is due to Steam's 'Screenshot' key being F12, the same as the Aerodynamic Forces Overlay. You can either use KSP's built-in screenshot button, F1 (the pictures are found in the game's Screenshot folder in its main directory), or install the ScreenMessageHider mod, which gets rid of all those annoying messages which pop up when the UI is hidden. Unfortunately, it doesn't hide the Aerodynamic Force Arrows, so you may want to use the F1 key anyway (or rebind Steam's screenshot key).
  20. I agree, that's why I use Markdown for writing my story. It was much nicer being able to just run it through a BBCode converter and just get a nice formatted post on the forums. Not sure what I'm going to do with this fancy new editor though, I may try copying-and-pasting the HTML output? Though you say formatting doesn't carry over...
  21. I've a big folder of old KSP versions from when I first started playing in 0.18.2, all the way up to where we are now (I copy the KSP_win.zip file to this folder every update). I have no idea how or why this would come in useful, as I nearly always stick with the most recent version of the game, but it's neat to look at. As to OP, unfortunately unless you've saved older versions like the above, you're out of luck, though I do echo @FCISuperGuy in wondering why you want to go back to older versions, as the most recent KSP versions are much more stable, and (slightly) more optimized. If you're getting RAM crashes or don't like the number of parts stock KSP now has, you can always delete any you don't use.
  22. Funnily enough, if you'd said that a year ago, I would have disagreed immensely; I was running a great deal of mods back then (I think I was running whichever x64 bit version of the game was out then). Now however, I only have a couple; Scatterer for visuals, and Kerbal Engineer. It's quite amazing how far the base game has come and how much more of a complete game it feels like, to the point where even many of the 'quality-of-life' improving mods are simply obsolete.
  23. I double-checked the download links, and they did seem a little broken (Mediafire said something about repairing the links), so I replaced them, and they should work properly. Let me know if you still encounter difficulties with the download.
  24. @cobbman11 Jeez, and here you had me thinking that was a real plane, until I looked a bit closer and noticed the floats. Well done!
