  1. Thanks for all the awesome entries. It's still too damn windy here for me to record so if anyone wants to get an entry in a bit late you are welcome to do so. Very frustrating but it's blowing a gale and I can't record with all that background noise!
  2. Hey, good job! We are now into the last 8 hours of this challenge. It is gusting 130kmph here, which makes recording sound pretty hard, so I won't get a video on the challenge our tonight, but I will before the weekend (ideally, if we aren't blown off this hill).
  3. ElaDV: you can do that, but in-game months or years will have passed. The challenge is to play career and do things promptly (at least, this challenge).
  4. Yeah, disallowing do-overs, but it is an honesty system (I can't check, after all!). KSP is very stable for me, but if that isn't the case for you then work something out for yourself in the spirit of the challenge!
  5. good question - let's go with "no" - there and back safely is enough!
  6. Kerbal Alarm Clock, Engineer Redux and any visual or audio mods only.
  7. Not sure on mechjeb. I would go and ask in the mechjeb thread in the Add-Ons forum!
  8. Placeholder for keeping the Leaderboard and other notes.
  9. The Great Kerbal Space Race is a community challenge to play a campaign of Kerbal Space Program 1.0 together. Each week I will set a challenge and players compete to finish the challenge first (by the game's clock). I will be awarding points to those who compete, those who are stylish, and those who are fastest! ~~This Week's Challenge~~ .Get at least one Kerbal to the surface of the Mun and back in one piece. To join the race simply prove you completed the challenge by emailing me (peter (at) tinypirate.com) screenshots with the game time (not the mission time) on them and your nickname and I'll add you to the leaderboard I'm going to keep running. If you're new to KSP, check out Scott Manley's excellent - it should give you some pointers.Feel free to come discuss the challenge here, share your ideas, successes and failure.
  10. Hey! Blackrack! I featured Scatterer in my 2 Minute Mods series. Hope you like the video, and please feel free to share around, use, and so on.
  11. I think we can offer all kinds of helpful support, beer money through to bug reports I would love it if Steam offered a "round up your purchase" option with the tens of cents involved being automatically spread out among the current mod makers you use. It wouldn't be perfect but it would perhaps difuse the direct pay-for-mods issues we have seen humming along. Or perhaps better ways to be reminded of a mod maker's Patreon or donation button.
  12. I've donated to Roverdude and PJF via their Patreon accounts for their work. I hope other people have jumped in and put a buck or two in some tip jars!
  13. Well, there will always be that element. I just hope to remind people to listen to their better angel this week and to celebrate the modders and the developers as 1.0 is released.
  14. Yay, nightingale! That's the spirit! Now, if only I can get this idea more attention. My reddit post is languishing towards the bottom of the subreddit, haha. http://www.reddit.com/r/KerbalSpaceProgram/comments/33yf7v/join_me_in_supporting_our_mod_makers_during/
  15. While free is all well and good it is obvious that the community, mod makers, youtubers and the developers exist in a symbiotic relationship. One can't exist without the other, and there goes with that the basic principles of reciprocity and recognition. If no modders were ever thanked or passed a donation the mod community would not be as strong. If the developers didn't support mod makers, the mod community wouldn't be as strong. If all mods were pay walled, the mod community wouldn't be as strong. I think donations towards mod makers whose content we love is the best way to show our appreciation and support for what they do. And it's a lot better than the alternatives! Mod makers are a lot like buskers. They don't EXPECT piles of money, and they don't mind people just trying their content, but they certainly wouldn't keep going if no one said "thanks" or ever flipped them a coin.
  16. The recent kerfuffle over the Skyrim's paid mods got me to thinking about how amazing the Kerbal modding scene is, and how lucky us players are in having such generous volunteer developers. I know that I couldn't live without many of the mods that some of the mod makers have been working on and supporting for years. And so I've made an open letter asking us all to remember developers this Release Season and to perhaps join me in finding one or two with a donate button and chucking $5 their way. As a YouTube content creator I'm even more conscious of the fact that I actually make (very tiny) amounts of money off the efforts of mod makers. Sure, making videos takes effort, but it doesn't take weeks like 90% of the mods do, and so I feel a touch guilty that I'm earning a couple of bucks off the work of these guys and girls. That's why I'm also pledging to donate a chunk of my channel profits from Kerbal mods videos to mod makers at each channel anniversary. I'd love to see some people add #donationcountdown to their excitement over #kerbalcountdown. Will you join me?
  17. Hi TriggerAu! I featured your mod in a little video I made!
  18. Hi there! I featured TAC LS in my 2 Minute Mods series. I hope you find this interesting and enjoyable. I've loved this mod for ages and hopefully did it justice (in just over 2 minutes). Feel free to share around and use to promote TAC LS.
  19. Oh hey - good point. Hmmm. All this moving in 3D space gets quite confusing!
  20. Hi, NavyFish, I put together a 2 Minute Mod on this amazing tool. Enjoy!
  21. Hey! I made a (very brief) overview video of RCS Build Aid.. ...and.. nuts.. I forgot to credit you, m4v! Apologies! Anyway, the video is here, hopefully people find it interesting and helpful. Feel free to link the video around.
  22. Hi all! I made a tutorial video covering how to plan a mission to Duna and then how to build and execute the mission. It's quite detailed, but only 15 minutes long. I hope people find it useful! Also on my channel are a lot of short video showing off Kerbal mods. They should be very helpful to people new to using mods in KSP.
  23. Hi there! I've profiled RT in my 2 Minute Mods series! I think I did ok trying to explain the mod in under 180 seconds!
  24. Ahh, thanks for the clarification (I usually try to credit both the original author and the current maintainer). I will edit the description later.
