  2. Did you look at Goodspeed fuel pump and similar mods ? The goodspeed one can balance your COM dynamically i think ?

  4. Hi Taniwha, updated to MFT 5.2.0 and got a visit from the kraken while launching a basic rocket (reduced the test down to stock parts, one command pod, one tank and one engine). The engine is about 3x times as powerful as normal, then around 4000m kraken gets in here and everything gets disassembled at speeds exceeding 3000km/s. I reduced the mods to make sure it was the newer version of MFT (i am also using FAR, KJR, MM 2.5.1, AVC and latest Mechjeb). I looked at the log and no exception stack happens before the kraken... This on 32 bit 0.25 running in opengl. (edit) i am running a clean install, and of course i removed the old MFT folder entirely (since i deleted the old install).
  5. They were a bit too much on the heavy side (counting the generators) to beat nuclears. Dunno about stock-like or realistic-like, but for me that is what counts, in the end i reverted to good old nukes and gained weight and simplicity.
  6. That was a fast update for such a huge mod, excellent job to all contributors for this release, you could have done a mere 0.25 compatibility release but nooo you added multiple layers of awesomeness on top of it

Well, as long as you share your fix proposal with e-dog and save him some work i dont see any issue here I understand why people would be impatient about this one (and i am, honestly) as this is a keystone mod for many of us. The temp fix seems to work for me but i got a kraken visit while launching a payload, it will take some time (and a lot of launches) to find which mod does it.
  8. Since ATM doesnt work with 0.25, i use opengl and the game loads fine. I got a lot of other mods too and get a visit from the kraken while in flight over kerbin, not sure which one does that yet, EVE is one of the suspects...
  9. As mentioned not too many posts before, 0.25 is quite broken. I asked the question before and the answer was no, at the time being.

  11. All fine for me in 0.25 with newer KSPAPIExtensions.dll and plenty of other mods.
  12. with mm 2.3.5 (and nothing else): my stock parachutes, such as MK16, will not appear in staging list either in VAB or flight. They cant be triggered / deployed and there is no right click menu on them in the VAB.
  13. I noticed stock parachutes dont appear anymore in VAB or flight staging. Cant trigger them either. Reduced the mods to FAR and MM 2.3.5, 32 bit. Any idea ? (edit) nvm, reduced it to mm 2.3.5, i'll see with them

  15. I know, right, as stated it just takes more time. I am already around the 500 hours mark on KSP I get to mach 5.6 with my SR71-like design.
  16. @Ferram: ah, thanks a bunch that makes sense. That's a significant change from former versions ! I am open to that new challenge. More fuel transfers while airborne will be needed... Nice that we have that Goodspeed pump mod For me the jet nerf just makes me take longer to achieve the same results, i understand the need of some for utter realism, but that's feeling artificial to me. It's still a space program for small green men, let's still have some fun, that's my take on it. If i want to play a flight sim there's DCS or X-Plane and Kerbal is nowhere near those (even with your wonderful mod). Another side effect of the jet nerf is the runway is now a tad too short, and it amplifies the issues with landing gears going sideways because of Unity limitations.

Alright, flight model has changed a lot indeed since v0.23 Here is result of today's work: My findings: - my previous attemps were doomed by the "noodle syndrome": seems KJR doesnt attach pwings or fuselage parts as strongly as before. My plane was flexing so much any aerodynamic input was offset by the flexing. Seems v0.24.x is much more noodly than before. - also i got blind sided by that new universal fuel tank part thing: turns out my COM was completely offset - Delta wings arent protecting from mach tuck anymore, oh no they arent. Found out my delta design is getting max roll + max yaw during transsonic. Also falls like a brick once supersonic.. - My best high speed supersonic design was above screenshot, although i found out it behaves at subsonic quite well. - Mach tuck is constant, huge, very difficult to mitigate, my above design dips a few times before getting enough speed to climb at 20K where it gets to speeds where lift is secondary, and STILL i have like 80% pitch trim upwards !?!? (even at mach 3+) I suppose i'd have to add some proper camber to wings but that's very difficult to achieve in KSP (especially now that things are a bit more noodly than before) - Or is it something else ? Like small parts are accounted for or something ? Or do i need to add drag to the underside to balance drag produced by tails ? Wouldnt tails produce a moment that keeps the nose up ? (edit) and regular turbojets are so weak now.. on SABRE's i just switch to rocket mode for takeoff or it takes forever and half. On normal turbojets even a very lightweight, simple design (like 30 parts total) behaves like a tanker, i'll try more designs these days but maybe these jets have been nerfed a bit too much ? (edit2) and thinking of mach tuck, at around mach 2 on the above design i get a slight temporary wobble, like something going through a turbulence, then i get lift again.
  18. Hi Yes this kind of design used to fly without any effort using former versions of FAR (in v0.23.x). I'm not saying this one in particular is perfect, i'd certainly need to adjust control surfaces and so on, but taking off and doing a quick subsonic jet powered flight used to be easy with such a simple and light design and 2 powerful turbojets. Now at best i feel i have a huge ass cargo at full load barely making it after the ski jump even with flaps, slats, everything at full deflection, full thrust... Then forget about doing anything else than straight line, even a simple turn will rip everything off. Almost like i'm flying in some thick soup ...??? Also trying to just pull up the nose will bring a lot of roll in either direction, sometimes oscillating ! I never used stock aero for planes, never made any sense to me. I reduced the mod list to: B9 (latest, goes with MM 2.3.5), FAR, KJR, pwings. Still happening, using 32 bit version. Almost all my aero surfaces are pwings, tail fins are B9 stock.   19. Made a fresh install of everything, B9, FAR, pwings etc. Latest everything. Nothing flies properly anymore like this kind of design which used to fly without any effort: Just drops in the water. I tried to hyperedit it at 15000m for a drop and there is basically zero control (roll, pitch, yaw, nothing) even if i go straight down and try to pull up, no go, the plane just wobbles itself to pieces. Control surfaces move properly, its just like my plane is inside a constant tornado. I got KJR too, and ModuleManager 2.3.5. Not sure what i am missing here ?

  21. Didnt have time to read everything since the v5 release, so i'll go with a quick note - with S2 body multipart, when i switch it to LFO it only contains LF (and no Ox), and the tank submenu doesnt give me the opportunity to autofill it 45-55%.
  22. Seconded. I have been in a lot of situations where my 2nd stage would have been exactly balanced with a 1000kN engine, while we get a huge gap from 600-something to 1400 or 1600.
  23. @Boamere: look at the delta design i posted a few pages ago. I use a combination of anhedral and CoM manipulation (tanks to the rear..) in order to get some unstability, also the CoM closer to the control surfaces make it better at transonic (mach tuck almost gone, the plane only shudders briefly when going over mach 1 and that's it).

Flawed raycast model aside, i would like to have the option of using the GPU to get the benefit of a more advanced aerodynamic model (maybe more calculations, more simulated shapes, smaller time interval ?) - having a SLI of GTX Titan's my GPU are pretty much sleeping the whole time and the CPU is the actual bottleneck in this game, at least for me. Should be an option though, i too have a laptop when i am travelling
