  1. Continuing one of the greatest mods to ever exist in this game Astronomer's Visual Pack is a comprehensive visual overhaul for Kerbal Space Program originally developed by Astronomer. I have been a huge fan of Astronomer's work since my first steps into Kerbal Space Program, during 2014. 2015 would see the hiatus of EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements development, along with the unfortunate demise of Astronomer's Visual Pack, as the version of EVE it ran on, a version made for alpha KSP, deprecated. Even as the development of EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements gained traction once more, Astronomer ceased to appear in the KSP community. Since 2016, I have been attempting to restore and expand the gorgeous visual overhaul that was Astronomer's Visual Pack, through rewriting, remaking, and repackaging. This is the product of that work. Through adapting stock KSP canon and sci-fi imagination, Astronomer's Visual Pack aims to turn Kerbal Space Program into the most immersive, beautiful experience a player can get. Downloads Stock + OPM JNSQ Installation CKAN Check the "Astronomer's Visual Pack" mod. You will be prompted to choose a texture resolution. Install and enjoy! GitHub Acquire the latest release of "Astronomer's Visual Pack" from GitHub. Drop the "GameData" folder inside the archive into your KSP installation, merging the two folders if prompted. Download a texture resolution of your choice (2k, 4k, and 8k downloads are currently available). Drop the "GameData" folder inside the archive into your KSP installation, merging the two folders if prompted. Download and install the latest versions of the dependencies necessary for the mod to function. This includes: EnvironmentalVisualEnhancementsScattererModuleManager It is highly recommended you also download TUFX to enable AVP's color-grading and post-processing configurations. Once you have installed TUFX, click on the toolbar button while ingame and select the Astronomer's Visual Pack profile. (Optional) Download the 43k Kerbin cloud enhancement: Download and install the 43k Kerbin clouds. These are quite intensive on the GPU and RAM! You will now have much finer unique detail on Kerbin's main cloud layer. Great for cinematics. (Optional) Download Astronomer's Music Pack: Download and install Soundtrack Editor. Install the folders into the main KSP directory. Download and install Astronomer's Music Pack. Extract the Music and Playlists folders into your main KSP directory. Replace any files if prompted. You will now hear a new assortment of ambient music tracks alongside the stock KSP soundtrack. (Optional) Download the recommended mods: Audio Chatterer (immersive audio enhancements) Visual Parallax (terrain shader for realistic planetary surfaces) DistantObjectEnhancement (distant planets and ships will be visible from afar) PlanetShine (planet shine effect on your ships) Sunflares of Maar (a sunflare pack) RealPlume (realistic engine plume spread) TexturesUnlimited (reflection and texture effects for parts) EngineLighting (lighting effects for engines and decouplers) Gameplay ReStock (stock part overhaul) OR Ven's Stock Part Revamp (stock part overhaul) Disclaimer: Astronomer's Visual Pack is a visual pack for the stock planetary system, as well as the bodies in the Outer Planets Mod. It is best played with the optional enhancements. AVP is not compatible with other atmospheric enhancements for the stock and OPM systems, such as Stock Visual Enhancements, Spectra, stock EVE (BoulderCo), Sci-Fi-VE, Graphics Enhancements Assembly, OPM-VO, etc. Do not install a combination of AVP + conflicting visual mods. Installs with this issue visible will likely not receive support. Features Up to 43k Kerbin clouds High-res volumetric clouds Bioluminescent clouds for Laythe 7 cloud layers for Jool at up to 8k Glow for all non-atmospheric bodies where relevant Up to 8k auroras Sandstorms and surface dust Lightning on Eve, Kerbin, Duna, and Laythe Moho ablation effect 8k Milky Way skybox Geysers on Minmus and Eeloo Visuals for the Outer Planets Mod Custom loading screens and tips Modular file structure, to tinker with and remove specific effects with ease More I likely forgot to list... Featuring the mods (must install dependencies): Environmental Visual Enhancements - rbray89, WazWaz Used for clouds, dust, auroras, and numerous other atmospheric and non-atmospheric enhancements. ModuleManager - sarbian Used to ensure compatibility and functionality. Scatterer - blackrack Used for atmospheric scattering and oceanic enhancement. Performance & Hardware Astronomer's Visual Pack is the most intensive visual mod for Kerbal Space Program, but has been tuned and optimized such that even mid-end hardware will bring an enjoyable experience. With 8k textures, the minimum specifications required for a smooth experience (60+ FPS) is a GTX 1060 6GB, paired with 16GB of RAM. A CPU with strong single-core performance is also recommended.. Performance Tips If your game resolution is greater than 1920x1080, turn it down to this and use either NVIDIA or AMD Image Sharpening to restore the visual difference. Try a lower texture resolution. Try a lower scatterer preset. You can change this by clicking on the blue globe in the toolbar in Space Center. Reduce your antialiasing setting. Navigate to <KSP>/GameData/AstronomersVisualPack/AVP_Configs/Stock/ and remove the configuration files for effects you do not desire. If your GPU frequently hits 100% usage, set a frame limit that will reduce the load. Depending on your GPU model, you may be able to either undervolt or overclock in order to achieve lower temperatures or higher performance respectively. Support I'm commonly active on the r/KerbalSpaceProgram Discord, go ahead and ping me there if you need help. You can also just reply below with your KSP.log and perhaps a screenshot. 2. ...A VISUAL COLLECTION Hello! This is the LizardMan's Visual Collection, which not only provides amazing look, but is also highly editable. there are plenty of TUFX settings to choose from and you can customize the easily accessible settings to your liking. With this modpack you can make stunning cinematic videos and pictures. Why is this for? Looks: This modpack is designed to make celestial bodies and spaceships more stunning, detailed and realistic. Simplicity: This means you don’t have to bother with settings. I tried to set everything up to be in the best, most beautiful form. I also considered showing only images that look exactly like the freshly installed modpack. Always up to date: I make sure this modpack is always up to date, works on the latest versions. Just visual: It doesn't change anything in the mechanics of the game. Features: 43k clouds to Kerbin 8k clouds to Laythe, Jool, Eve High resolution terrain textures Stock parts don’t change in their operation, they only get reflective textures. Planet shine Atmospheres High resolution sunflare Better oceans Auroras Fog Important note! This modpack is currently under development. bugs can easily occur in it. 3. Here are some screenshots for comparison: I am using KSP version 1.3.1 I'm not able to upload images here, So please refer this link: https://imgur.com/a/nQ0FJ2T, Not only those planets but moons as well, textures in the map mode looks fine but when in game mode it looks pixelated blurred and not clear. This problem persists in both the texture packs 4k and 2k. I tried with 4k first, but same problem, then I replaced it with 2k thinking my laptop is not supporting 4k, again same problem. The hardware is compatible. So what is the issue? Also before installing all the other mods unrelated to Astronomer's visual pack I tested it once but, same problem. Please tell me how to fix it? EDIT: Kerbin looks just fine both in Map and game modes, Problem is with only other planets. AND I used CKAN to install mods.
  4. I was wondering if Stock visuals and Astronomers were the only visual packs? I can't seem to find any others and i didn't know if they are just the only ones or they're just the BEST ones. Sorry if this is a dumb reason to create a new thread! Love you all!!!!
  5. So I have installed AVP, along with all the dependencies, yet the clouds are not showing up in the main screen. Scatterer appears to be working, but that's it. I have the up-to-date versions of AVP, along with the 4k texture pack, scatterer, eve and TUFX. Please if anyone knows what the problem is can you let me know.
  6. I have a bug that makes the game entirel unplayable. Ok so when i go to the mun, the closer i get, the more laggy it gets, and when i try to land, the altimeter at the top breaks around 2.5km above the surface, it just says 1, but mechjeb is fine so i continue. But about 20m above the surface, i just explode? I have all the indestructible cheats on and it still happens, i try minmus and duna and it still happens. On minmus and duna i also went through the ground amd exploded about 10m BELOW the surface. Whats going on? I thought it astronomers visual pack causing the lag, and the lag causing the bugs, but nope. I removed it along with eve and scatterer and its still just as laggy. The only other thing maybe is sigma dimensions. Im using 6.4x size with 9.6x distance, 0.3 terrain. Ive had this isse before with no way to solve it and wasnt using sigma then so i dont think its that either. Im using ksp 1.8.1, i have a ryzen 5 2600, a 2070 super, and 16gb 3200mhz ram.
  7. I want to get some good clean screen shot comparisons of the two so I get a idea of what I want. (It's hard to see comparisons on the images and stuff.)
  8. I installed the astronomer's visual pack recently and encountered a very weird water glitch where the water looks white and the waves are broken, VERY stretchy triangles. I installed using CKAN and I'm not sure what's causing this water issue. Here's a list of mods that I have downloaded. The only conflict AVP has is with EVE configs which I don't think I have installed. What's causing the issue and how do I fix it?
  9. Back in 0.25, my game looked like this: How can i have this same look in 1.0.5?
  10. Just wondering but what ever happened to astronomers visual pack paradise i have been waiting a long time for it. can anyone clue me in on what happened? thanks
