Custom flag not working.... what am I missing?

So the other day I made this flag:

And I can't get the dagnab thing to work! Yes, I resized it to 256x160, put it in /GD/squad/flags, but it doesn't show up. Even tried throwing it in an old .24 install and it still doesn't show up. I must be missing something incredibly simple here, I've made flags before and plopped them in the folder and they worked just find, even with weird sizes.

Is it in png or dds format?

To make my flags, I opened a stock one in Paint, saved it under a new name, and then painted over the existing image. That way it was certain to have the same formatting and whatnot as the others.

I see what you did there. Good choice! (Although if I may nitpick, I feel like there's not enough "clearance" on the bottom border between the edge and the start of the emblem).

Assuming "GD" is just shorthand for GameData, and that you didn't actually put it in a subfolder of "GD", then off-hand I'm not sure what could be going on. All I can think of it to try Vanamonde's suggestion of copy-pasting an existing file, and then cracking open MS Paint and replacing the image with this one.
