[1.0.5] Kip Engineering: All Docking Ports updated for 1.0.5! (11th Nov 2015)

Sorry mods, for the necro, but in case anyone would ask or is interested:

Yes the universal ports work in 1.3, out of the box (using the dropbox Chonner provided) as advertised: universal to universal all sizes, universal to stock all compatible sizes (meaning that the stock or other port must be smaller or the same size as the universal port). As the last update predates 1.2/1.3, the universal ports will be found under Utility rather than Decouplers (or use the parts search box). Have not observed any unusual behavior as of yet; will update if there is any I discover.

I know this is a thread revival, but I've been trying to find a mod that either revives the Structural Hub set or makes their own thats real nice like this one's.  I miss the Universal Docking Ports of this mod and the Structural Hub set.

Also, its rather odd that the URLs were disabled somehow and they still work if you go to the media fire pages and manually use the URLs.

Anyhow, if someone knows where I can get a new Structure set for a space station and such, that'd be great.  I dunno what happened to the mod creator but he is missed!  These mods were great.

Okay, so I know it's not about 1.5 or 1.6, but if anyone's curious again, the Universal Docking Ports you get from Chonner's dropbox (which is still around) still seem to work in 1.4.5. And unless something major changed with docking nodes jumping to 1.5 or 1.6, there's a good chance it means it'll work for current KSP as well.

A note for those who use DockRotate though: while the Enable Rotation toggle appears in the PAW, it will not bring anything up. Neither will any stock port docked with a UDP be able to bring up its Rotate functions. Likely because DockRotate hasn't been programmed to consider UDPs (yet). And now that I realize it, I should have tested whether DockRotate will work with the stock and Konstruction docks as usual while UDP is installed... I'll be back when I find out. (Also cross-posting this up in DockRotate.)

I've used the docking in ports in every version 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 and now 1.6 with no issues. I even tweaked them (and all docking pocking ports) to accept all sizes and be re-sizable via Tweakscale. They really are one of my favorite parts of all time in all of KSP.

FYI to anyone who cares, the Universal Docking Ports mod still works for 1.8.1, there are not a lot of moving parts (pun intended) to break with new versions.

It would be nice though if some kind soul would adopt the mod, clean it up, give it a once over for the current version.

Anyone know who the current owner/operator is to ask about taking it over?

I can also confirm this for 1.9.1.

I don't recall that development or curation was ever passed from CaptainKipard or anyone else, and the one I'm using is from a user's unofficial hosting (I don't know if he made any changes) from my last post a couple years back. We could try asking one of the present "professional" mod curators (linuxgurugamer or zer0kerbal) if either is interested in trying to get in contact with CaptainKipard about this.

(And also if he or at leat the present license will allow a 5m and 7m UDP to be added to the set--I've been missing those lately.)

I've made a re-release of Kip's docking ports (both the Non-Androgynous and Universal ones) in a new mod : Kip Docking Ports.

Details in the forum thread.

@B-STRK The license allows pretty much anything, except commercialisation with the only other condition being that you attribute the original work.  Adding new sizes (with proper models) would require either the original model files, or reverse-engineering the models though.

Hello,

I understand this thread is old and this Mod or rather the mod I'm working with is old as well (Non-Androgynous Docking Port Set v0.9.2).    I was wondering if there is any chance this mod will get picked up or updated at all.

When I installed it, I got the following errors in my KSP.Log:

[LOG 18:28:17.734] PartLoader: Compiling Part 'KipEng/KipEng/parts/NADockPorts/NADockPorts/kipactiveport'
[ERR 18:28:17.734] PartCompiler: Cannot clone model 'KipEng/parts/NADockPorts/kipactiveport' as model does not exist

[ERR 18:28:17.734] PartCompiler: Model was not compiled correctly

[ERR 18:28:17.734] PartCompiler: Cannot compile model

[ERR 18:28:17.734] PartCompiler: Cannot compile part

[LOG 18:28:17.734] PartLoader: Compiling Part 'KipEng/KipEng/parts/NADockPorts/NADockPorts/kippassiveport'
[ERR 18:28:17.735] PartCompiler: Cannot clone model 'KipEng/parts/NADockPorts/kippassiveport' as model does not exist

[ERR 18:28:17.735] PartCompiler: Model was not compiled correctly

[ERR 18:28:17.735] PartCompiler: Cannot compile model

[ERR 18:28:17.735] PartCompiler: Cannot compile part

I haven't used Androgynous ports much but they look really cool and was just starting to when my game took a dump.

Read one post before your post. This mod was adopted 2 years ago and there's a link to the new thread. Download an updated version there.

I apologize that I did not see that post.  Thank you for the enlightenment.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
