The Comprehensive Kerbal Archive Network (CKAN) Package Manager; v1.18.0 [19 June 2016]

I think CKAN is trying to install FAR multiple times. Still trying to track down what is actually happening.

I think the Ships folder it's referring to is the one in the KSP directory, which isn't in GameData, so if you cleaned out GameData after previously having FAR installed that file's probably still there.

Just installed 1.5.2, receiving the following error when clicking "Refresh" in the GUI:

"Failed to connect to repository. Exception: Exception of type 'CKAN.InconsistentKraken' was thrown."

This means nothing to me, but is especially alarming, as I prefer my Kraken's to be consistent. Seriously, reproducible at will. Let me know how / if I can help chase down the bug.

Hey, copy/pasting the rest of the error would go a long way :)

That was the entire error, in a dialog box. However, I have just now tried again and no error. Minor connectivity problem? *Shrug*

If there are logs, tell me where they are and I will happily post them in the future. :)

I think it's an error with the current build as my older build before I updated refreshed fine, just couldn't download, now this one can download, but not refresh.

Also seems to mess up, freezing when trying to download with no progress like refreshing, and never actually does it, just sits there, and canceling it causes a "Couldn't download" error, as well as a windows "warrning there is an error, do you want to quit or continue" message to pop up.

It's correct, in that those mods are all at the latest versions, but I didn't request a reinstall even once...

CKAN is version 1.5.2 on OS X.

I just ran into this mod yesterday, and I love the potential it has for solving the hassles I currently have with keeping mods up to date. I am trying to move over to CKAN, but since it cannot track things I installed manually (AFAIK), I am going through my mods one by one, deinstalling them, and reinstalling them through CKAN. I am running into a problem though with blizzy's toolbar. When I remove the mod, and click refresh, the following error is thrown:

Unhandled Exception has occured in your apllication

Exception of type 'CKAN.InconsistentKraken' was thrown.

Details:

See the end of this message for details on invoking

just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Running CKAN v1.5.2-0-g00000000 on Win7 x64

- - - Updated - - -

EDIT: I think I see the problem there already. Achievements needs the toolbar and CKAN doesn't think it can exist without toolbar being there and therefore deems the whole install at fault. Will test with both toolbar and achievements out

EDIT2: indeed, that was it. Had to first delete achievements, rescan, then delete toolbar, rescan, and can now install everything through CKAN. Might help to implement a somewhat more concise error message instead of the whole debug screen and red crosses thingy ;)

Known issue, we are working very hard at it.

Thanks for the report anyway :)

CKAN v1.5.3 is out, hopefully alleviating the issues 1.5.2 created. All v1.5.2 users should upgrade immediately.

Also, after the rather extensive maintenance downtime the amsterdam.ksp-ckan.org mirror is back up.

Never mind... :sealed:

Receiving the following error on trying to install US-KAS. Removing US and installing both mods together results in the same error. Updating / Refreshing doesn't clear the error. Clearing the cache doesn't change a thing (I had to try *something*!). Also reported on Github.

About to remove:

Done!

About to install...

* UniversalStorage-KAS 1.0.0 (cached)

Oh no! We tried to overwrite a file owned by another mod!

Please try a `ckan update` and try again.

If this problem re-occurs, then it maybe a packaging bug.

Please report it at:

https://github.com/KSP-CKAN/CKAN-meta/issues/new

Please including the following information in your report:

File : GameData/UniversalStorage/Parts/US_1R110_Wedge_KASContainer/KASContainer.tga

Installing Mod : UniversalStorage-KAS 1.0.0

Owning Mod : UniversalStorage

CKAN Version : v1.5.3-0-g0000000 (beta)

Your GameData has been returned to its original state.

Error!

I'm not sure why CKAN is trying to do anything with TriggerAU-Flags when I don't have it installed and haven't selected it for install or update at all.

We had to split out the Flags from each of his mods because KAC, AlternateResource and so on stepped on their respective toes. No CKAN package is allowed to overwrite files from another package.

We had to introduce update logic for packages that contained broken install sections, those re-installs might have bitten you. Your best way forward would be to just install the Flags, thereby actually installing things like how TriggerAu intended to...

Magnificent work here, this has made modding so much easier!

One thing i wanted to note about RSS is that there are mods out there, which utilize RSS to resize the stock Kerbin system without replacing any textures. Removing the requirement to install at least one texture pack for RSS would remedy the issue of being stuck with some unneeded/unusable textures - although it would be understandable if you wanted to wait for the respective resizing mods to release on ckan themselves.

Is there any possibility of adding a "Favorite" tick box? Or a filter for "now compatible since last refresh"? Or maybe some way to tell CKAN to install a particular mod when a stable version is released? When KSP is updated and all the mods are incompatible, it gets tedious going through the whole list trying to find all my favorite mods to tick them. Are there any plans for a feature that would make this process easier?

So, with version 1.0.90 Paul Kingtiger has merged all his Universal Storage packs into one mod (making it a Universal Install :P) meaning that trying to install extra packs (KAS, TACLS etc) creates overwrite errors in CKAN.

Is there some way for CKAN to highlight the fact that the extra packs are now not needed with this version of US and above before people (like me) spend a couple of hours wondering why the mod wont install?

The Flags weren't in any of the netkan files that got set up and I left em out of the installs on purpose, so there shouldn't be any reference to those via CKAN. If there is now a "TriggerAu-Flags" mod listed in there I'd get rid of it to save any issues with the files being in multiple zips

Yep, we are intentionally not installing any of the Flags. "TriggerAu-Flags" is an optional module in case anyone would want your Flags, in which case they have to install them explicitly and there will always be only one provider for those two images.

So then I assume this now means you can't even install US through CKAN since it would have a TACLS dependency.

I really wish CKAN would let you manually resolve dependencies.

- - - Updated - - -

Ven's Stock Parts Revamp is on 1.6b, yet CKAN only shows 1.6 which conflicts with SXT. If you have both installed KSP will crash. 1.6b of Ven's fixes that and is on GitHub and his release thread, but not in CKAN. Also CKAN doesn't seem to detect the conflict and won't warn the user. I wasted a good hour on that last night :(
