What would you want in the next update (0.90)?
Frank_G replied to EvilotionCR2's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I love that! What about plush dice? -
Well, i use a launch stage (1) to get to apogee, then a transfer stage (2) to circularize and / or go to the target, then the lander (3) goes down, flag planted and up again and home. Sometimes i leave a return stage (4) in orbit if the lander gets too heavy with all that return stuff attached.

Hm, but hopefully it doesnt look like porkjet...

Well, i decided to play only every second day and not more then 2 hours... works well... and ideas come from all the other things, there is suddenly enough time for. My KSP experience has moved from a somewhat addiction to a conscious and much more fun experience. Try it!

I bet, Kerbals use green magic... I'd like to have the option to drive the rocket to the pad. It would be awesome for YouTubers and to celebrate those special mission launches. A crawler would be pretty cool.

Welcome Tricksterzzzz and Godspeed! All the best to you and your kerbals on your upcoming endeavors

Yes please!

Welcome to the forums vaironl. Dont worry about the learning curve in KSP. It either comes naturally by crashing a lot or you take a look at some youtube channels as mentioned above. I can recommend kurtjmac and simgamerstv f.e.. Some tips that helped me a lot... Start small, use a sandbox game beside your career game to test yor designs, keep your designs as simple as possible. Enjoy the stay and the game

My first landing on Duna... Link to the full mission is in my signature, if there is interest.

Well, early in career those contracts can really do the trick... getting a "Test that decoupler" when you havent one available can mean the breakthrough to orbit (unless you prefer the stacked SRB method, which i personally dont like).

Today, i ported my .24.2 saved game to .25. And i took the opportunity to get rid of some mods. I am now down to 10 mods (from originally more than 30 back in .20). KSP gets more and more complete for me. Then i continued with my Dream Chaser project and tweaked the spaceplane a bit here and there. It is now capable of reaching a 100km Kerbin orbit on its own, with about 1k of delta V remaining. It reached 2.100 m/s and a height of 36 km before it was necessary to switch to rocket mode. I am very pleased with the design. It is very lightweight with only 6.9 tons of total weight. It flies very stable, packs 6 science experiments and is the prime candidate to join my second mission attempt to land on all 5 moons of Jool. The Dream Chaser style launcher and additional transfer stage was designed, to deliver the spaceplane to the Jool main mission craft, without using its own resources. In the first picture montage, the spaceplane and transfer stage are docked to the LKOS I space station during the final test flight. And some impressions while on the runway. In the lower left you can see the science stuff placed inside the clamp-o-tron. You can easily fit and access batteries and small science thingies in there.

SAS won't hold heading

Here you can see, how to correctly set up control surfaces: I found this picture here on the forums, but i dont know the thread anymore, so i repost this picture. Rights remain with the author. -
Congratulations! Nerves of steel stand nothing against explosions, but they can help preventing them.

What would you want in the next update (0.90)?

I want to hear, what Squad has to say on the next .26 update on tuesday. We surely will get a roadmap then. THEN is the time for me to suggest. I am currently exploring all those tiny bits in .25, that have been changed besides the big features and there are truly lots of tweaks and fixes been done. I totally agree on that. Also i don´t like to put pressure on Squad for optimization. That is a process that can be done, when getting close to the finish line. And all that i have seen so far, concerning games in pre-alpha status... there are only a few highlights among the flood of early access games that manage to be fun and playable all through the development process. And KSP is one of them. Thank you Squad! -
Anyone else not really care for the career stuff?
Frank_G replied to sedativechunk's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Well, i started playing KSP with version .20. I never cared about career back then. I only was annoyed by not getting science messages. Now that this is changed i should be lucky playing sandbox all the time, but to be honest... career mode is far better than playing sandbox since version .24.2. It adds so much juice to the gameplay, i couldnt imagine playing without anymore. Sandbox has become my simulation playground. Nothing more. -
Congratulations Porkjet! The new polished parts and their symmetrical profile are really awesome. I liked SP+ as a mod very much and i am really glad, that you and Squad agreed in taking them into the stock part list. Hopefully we are going to see the round shaped cockpit and nose cone we saw in your mod screenshots. They are simply beautiful. Keep it goin´!

So I finally got around to writing a KSP review on Steam.
Frank_G replied to Whackjob's topic in KSP1 Discussion
On the point, cant stop smiling while reading it. And thanks for taking the blame you... Only the Hoffman transfer is actually a Hohmann transfer -

Space Planes Now Scare the Living Tar Out of Me
Frank_G replied to ChrisHale's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Now that i play with permanent deaths enabled in .25, i never launch advanced designs with kerbals on board, unless it has been tested with a probe core. This is even more true for spaceplane designs. And i love those new parts. They are simply awesome. -
I do manual installs all the time. I just dont like patchers or launch applications. It has never failed me.
-
Welcome to the forums MrabEzreb! But sorry, no vote. I think both media have their pros and contras. In my opinion it depends on what you are planing to present and how. See you around!
