After about 20 missions i now own about 500k of funds and a good reputation. Considering, that a decent munar lander, as i built them until .24 costs around 50k of funds, i dont find that over-rewarded. I like contracts the way they are... it is nice that you need to work to build up funds and are presented with some challenges you normally would not attempt, but sneaking from one launch to the next with fear to ruin your game or being in the need to launch hundreds of missions to get the funds for your personal goals... Regarding that you usually play for around an hour a mission or more, this would slow down the fun and your creativity a lot. That would not be the type of game i like and it wouldnt be kerbal style in my opinion.

Thank you! Very useful tip!

Contracts made the game a whole lot more alive and fun. That is my favorite new feature in .24. The new planet shader is looking a far lot better than before (did the space-skybox change too... looks more contrasted than before in my opinion) and those little part tweaks really make sense. I think .24 is great update, however some things felt a little incomplete. But then again, that is up to the content creation process. There has been added a lot of gameplay which was really missing so far. And after i few contracts, i thought, they would repeat, but those procedural contracts come up with some really stupid but challenging tests... "Test a jet engine on the Mun"... Test the 2 x 1 LFB in munar escape trajectory...", some of them really gave me the laughs... and a challenge. And those rescue missions are really cool... adding the saved kerbals to the own flight roster is a nice idea which gets you to care more for those dudes in white suits immediately. Well done Squad! Thank you

Well... i played a few hours until the first Mun Landing was done a few minutes ago... i now have more than 400.000 funds... i guess, like science, funding wont kill the game, it just adds reward and a little more challenge. No problem to fly for fun... even in career after just a few hours of gameplay. [edit] saw this one too late: Thats exactly how it goes. Its just even more fun.

Search for undocumented changes and features of 0.24

This is awesome! I loved that part for its looks but never used it, because of lacking function... Glad, it has finally arrived in the game. -

The LV 909 had an ISP of 390... Which hopefully stayed that way. Otherwise it would mess with my new Tylo Lander... But as always... There will be a way. -
I start a new .24 career today with the goal to fly a grand tour through the solar system.

What i like about the KSP Dev team is, that they orientate themselves very well, concentrating on completing more and more of the final game mechanics. The biome system is working and it does what it is intended for very well. Actually adding biomes would fall into the part of content creation. I myself would love, if the planets and moons would get a little care, but that is not the point at the moment. I see SQUAD rushing toward gameplay completion. When they reach that goal, every coming update will bring parts, places, missions, audio-visual upgrades and and and... lets give them the space they need to reach that goal as fast as possible. We all will celebrate that day, and i count SQUAD very much in on that, as that would change their work to the most fun part of game development (right after initial game design).

Oh, i LOVE sandbox mode... To be honest, i build and test most of my craft in sandbox mode. Actually i have a sandbox save called "simulator" beside my career games all the time. I just find it boring to fly missions in sandbox. Nowadays because of missing science, in the future it will be even more rewarding to play career instead of sandbox. Reputation, funds and a reason to keep your green dudes save... What could be more challenging? I will for sure play with perma death on, too. Tension and rewards will be much higher.

I want it all and i cant wait to build the most cost efficient designs for generic missions to finance a grand tour. Constructing a large scale interplanetary vessel in orbit to visit all celestial bodies in one go, thats my objective for .24
-
I like Tylo too. It is challenging and i bet it will be even more fun to explore in future versions. I'd also like to try to land a permanent base on Tylo.
-
I would like satellite contracts. That would make spaceplanes really useful and cost efficient.

Rovers rock! I like to build, test and drive them. Rovers serve many purposes in my Spaceprogram, from simple exploration and science rovers to complex all terrain crawlers, haulers, refueling vehicles and mobile reactors... Rovers keep your bases running!

What Do you do when you are bored and playing KSP?
Frank_G replied to iRaven's topic in KSP1 Discussion
When playing KSP i have something in mind or something to achieve or explore. That doesnt get boring. When i dont feel like playing KSP but want to game around, i stick with Watchdogs on PS4 and hopefully Alien: Isolation soon. -
I built a small VTOL Jetplane, planning to drop it on Laythe. It is not spaceworthy, so maybe i replace the rear jet engines with R.A.P.I.E.R.s when it develops further. It is not a beauty, but i like the bulky design. There is a tiny bit of part clipping going on, but only to support the form. No hidden intakes or stacked wings and stuff. Comments on the design are welcome.

If you could only install 3 KSP mods... which 3 would it be?
Frank_G replied to Frank_G's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Yeah, i would really miss Spaceplane Plus... helped me creating some really nice Spaceplanes. However, i threw out the wing parts and the 2 cockpits because stock already has wings and cockpits. Those cockpit parts are awesome in all aspects, but they simply don´t feel ´kerbal´ enough in my opinion. -
I wont abandon anything if i dont need to. I only take care of my kerbals and missions when a new release is coming up, so that it wont matter to start from scratch. There was a large discussion if .23.5 would break saves due to implementation of the asteroids... It did at first, but SQUAD managed to fix the problem within no-time. And that is how we know SQUAD. Unless there is really no way, they will make the old saves compatible. And if it does and you really dont want to test all the new game features... take hyperedit and your craft files and re-establish your old game state... I am looking forward to .24 in positive ways, as we get to play KSP like never before.
-
As usual i recall all kerbaled missions, so it wont matter to start over if the save files break. I do a manual install without mods, take a look at the new features and then decide which mods will be put back in. Usually the mod-count gets reduced from update to update. Then i import the old saves and vessels and take a look if everything is ok.

The six words i never say in KSP: Everything is just working as expected. and... I know exactly what i´m doing.

You Will Not Go To Space Today - Post your fails here!
Frank_G replied to Mastodon's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I was on a Jool Grand Tour myself, but the lander had about 4k of dV, so there was no chance to try anything. I now have 6.5k dV lander and will give it another try when .24 is out. And Godspeed to you. May your plan work! -
I usually adapt Sci-Fi authors names to the kerbal universe for large unique craft... like Arthur C. Kerman, Robert A. Kerman, Isaac Kerman and so on. For standardized ships i go with mythological names of the classic literature. My launchers for example are named after greek heroes like Ajax, Herakles, Perseus and so on. [edit] i forgot... Satellites are using abbreviations describing their function. K-HOSS-1 for example is the Kerbin High Orbit Scanning Satellite 1... So i can easily identify function and position.
