I am with you Red Iron Crown. The ARM add-on offers a lot of under the hood upgrades and much more solid performance in lots of aspects. If one doesnt like a part... Why simply not use it? There is also a little mod by Bob Fitch that allows part sorting in the editor. So if one likes, the NASA parts could be hid with the click of a button. And when missions and payloads get more complex over time, there is much more to think of, than how to get stuff of the ground. The new 3.75m parts and the more powerful engines are pretty much welcome.

Congratulations! I remember my first interplanetary mission when duna finally came into sight. And dont forget all those cool moons! I will launch to Eve and Jool next. Jool will be the first time.

Community interest in Gas planet 2
Frank_G replied to LethalDose's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
You can get a lot of science from kerbin, mun and minmus... i remember hearing people getting through the complete tech-tree without ever leaving the kerbin system (cannot confirm if that is possible... i went to other planets long before finishing the tech tree). -
Well to strengthen the cliche of germans and electronic music... I like to listen to Kraftwerk, Frontline Assembly, Haujobb, Jean-Michel Jarre, Delerium (the old stuff), Tangerine Dream and soundtracks of all kind (the one of Last days on Mars is one of my favorites these days). I also like some IDM or Dark Ambient when playing KSP... Bands like Geomatic, Access to Arasaka, Wench, Ulf Söderberg, Tzolk´in and so on...

Today Jeb was lucky enough to walk away alive... Have a look at my signature...

Damn kraken is still here in 23.5, still attacking!
Frank_G replied to TheScareCake!'s topic in KSP1 Discussion
I encountered exactly the same apoapsis increasing problem, but there were no parts missing on my craft. I had this issue twice but with the same craft. The vehicle used some clipping parts though and i pushed it on that. I remember that it happened, when i came out of time acceleration (the game of course, not me) and i wasnt able to turn the acceleration back on, because the vehicle was considered throttled up, which it wasnt. I will launch that vehicle again this evening, maybe it is reproducable. Then i will file a bug report. -
SPACE STATIONS! Post your pictures here

I love that small drone! Very nicely built. -
He gets his very own asteroid belt and is complaining... tsssssss... Man that looks really like a mess. Have you posted a bug report?

I did exactly the same thing. But i will start from scratch when .24 is out with all those new career features. I am looking forward to the next update.

Orbit direction indicator

Very nice idea! I second that! -
I really like the looks of the game's planets. [DISCUSS]
Frank_G replied to Bearsh's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yes, almost all the planets are giving away a lot of game-atmosphere. However i´d like clouds and some weather effects very much. The Visual enhancements mod is nice, but makes my game crash from time to time regardless of 32 Gigs of Ram and a decent graphic card. I really want something like this become stock. (edit: The clouds not the crashing ) -
What is the most cool part in new ARM update
Frank_G replied to Pawelk198604's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I like the claw most because of its functionality. I also find the new tanks and engines really useful as they gave me the opportunity to throw out some mods. And i like having mission flags on my craft -
Totally. Two launches with base component and transfer stage and one crew launch. To land the base wasn´t that hard. Compared to its size its relatively light-weight with only 37 tons and it is quite balanced. Assembly and testing was a tough task though. Took almost a week until all components were like they are now.

I see the new parts as more technically advanced, just as Demon_82. And i really like em.
-
And to achieve their evil mind control of doom thingie they work hand in hand with the kraken...
-
I like the lander and especially those small deployable science probes on the front of your rover.
-
Established a base near the northern pole region of Duna.

Is the Orange Tank still your standard "yard stick"?
Frank_G replied to PTNLemay's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I started playing KSP in version .21 and the orange tank is the main tank of all my 2.5m rockets. And it will keep that place. But i wish there was an 3.75 m orange tank as well, so one could built nice NASA Atlas style replicas. -
I flew my new Dragonfly Atmo-Copter over the mountains of Eve. Mods used: KAS for the Containers, ScanSat for the rear antenna and Firespitter for the electric rotor.

I am into space stuff since i was able to pick up a book, no matter if it was real space exploration or science fiction. And i like creative activities (i work as a graphician, 3d artist and illustrator). I noticed KSP about 2 years ago and took a look from time to time until i bought it in November 2013. It totally got me on both major interests, so currently i cant think why or when i should put KSP down.

Asteroid Capture Difficulty vs. Your Expectations
Frank_G replied to elxverde's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I am totally with you Kasuha. Landing on the Mun took some attempts, landing in a controlled and safe way and learning the mechanics behind it wouldnt be easy without some help of tutorials. Capturing an asteroid is easy compared to that. -
iMac i7 early 2013 27" 32 Gigs Ram 2 Gig NVidia 680 MX 3 TB Fusion Drive Saitek Cyborg 3D Joystick and i wish there would be Mac support for a 3Dconexxion Spacepilot Pro

I love the update in all aspects. It adds lots of new possibilities and depths to the game. And the new parts are awesome! I miss some minor cosmetic things like an orange version of the large tank for proper NASA replicas and a single free usable engine version of those available as clusters, but that is just a personal wish. The new parts are great and all the care that was given to lots of minor issues and bugs is really nice. Thank you Squad!

I captured my first asteroid last night and i will use it as foundation for a science station. Every good space game needs an asteroid base! When this is done i plan on attaching a small kerbaled science base to an asteroid without changing its flight path... Just journey with it and collect all the science on the way, wherever it might go.
-
I captured my first asteroid... E-class... and docked a lot of fuel and engines to it. The outcome was the massive amount of 34m/s of delta V which was just enough to put it into an excentric high orbit. This will certainly require some work to get this beast to the desired 300 km orbit where it will be converted into a massive space station. Everything for SCIENCE!
