I use FAR besides other mods, however i keep mods in general and especially those adding parts at minimum. I played KSP without mods for 3 months straight and it is fun pure. I dont have problems with playing games, it doesnt have to be a realistic simulation all the time.

The new maneuver-node system is awesome. I also noticed, that several clipping issues are gone, f.e. the large battery does not clip anymore... very carefully done.

MMmm, that new save smell. Who is starting over?
Frank_G replied to Xacktar's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I have already safely returned all kerbals from my old save. I will start a new career this evening, with lots of asteroidy stuff in mind... -
And now... Launch it back into space!

I like the new engines just like they are. A good and needed addition to the existing parts. In general i like the new 3.75 m parts a lot. Too bad, they just kicked out KW Rocketry... I liked that mod a lot, but i like it even more to play stock...

I tested an Eve ascension vehicle on kerbin a few days ago... It had crew, but on re-entry i noticed, that it had all for an orbital rendezvous, but no parachutes... If i had forgotten to crew it, it would have been less catastrophic... So it isnt that bad, to forget the crew, especially in early design states...

I have one install with mods and one pure vanilla. I update the mods as early as possible... But when playing career mode, i like to try different stuff... Like shooting a solid fuel rocket in a ballistic arc to the poles to get science from there first... There are so many possibilities to get science in different and crazy ways... I want em all!

Thanks for the sleepless night.... I am tired like hell... and I love the ARM pack. The performance increase and part updates are awesome!

The last weeks are a typical example, what a community does, when developers give a tiny piece of information too early. Suddenly a whole bunch of people demands, urgently needs and rants about stuff, they did not know about at all a minute ago. And thy do it regardless if it is based on fact or total subjective guessing. I have no problem with waiting a little bit and i am excited to use all the stuff the new update will bring to us. The information politics of squad is excellent and only a sign for that, that they stand behind and love the stuff they do. But when looking at some reactions in other threads i could totally understand, when they would change from open information to you-get-what-you-get-when-we-say-so... Hype is great but patience is worth much more, especially when the developers are working hard, to deliver a rock solid update and not the buggy la-la stuff so called AAA Companies deliver to us for a whole load of money. It is not meant to offend anyone, but i needed to say that.

Yes, unitys terrain engine does not support geometry other than planes with heightmaps. A cave would need a complete separate mountain model wich contains the cave. Not very likely to see that though I would really like it.

I'm a little worried about the future of this game...
Frank_G replied to Renaissance0321's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Hopefully multiplayer will include private online sessions so you can game with a handful of friends. -
I thought about building a grappling harpoon with Kerbal Attachement System, not trying to sink, but to pull the drill down with an arrangement of stacked winches.

I recalled all kerbaled missions this weekend in preparation to start a new game, when .23.5 is out. Still one mun retrieval mission to go. But the ARM Pack can come Until then its replanning my duna mission lander that did not work as intended.

Community interest in Gas planet 2
Frank_G replied to LethalDose's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
More planets and a discovery system would be a great addition to the game. Both are on the to-do list, so we can be sure to get it... But it would be nicer not to go for more at the moment, better to complete features and details of the existing planets first. Currently Jool is the most interesting system in the game, so another gas giant would be really great... I'd like one with procedural rings, so one can go explore the ring features as well. -
Nothing to kermember so far. Instead i have a Party...

thing that took me the longest to master was.....

The first rendezvous maneuver and the following docking attempts... -
In a mün sized space station enroute to destroy Kalderan, while ruling the galaxy with an iron fi... äh... commanding a team of 8 kerbals on my first constellation style duna base, with Bill as Science Officer.

Catch one, throw it on the moon of your desire... otherwise it think, the chance will be close or equal to zero.

Nice little idea. That would make your craft look like the rovers in the movie Last Days on Mars.
-
Yeah! The one and only true slingshot maneuver...

The "You know you're playing a lot of KSP when..." thread

Man, what should i say? I live in MÃœNster in westfalia, germany... I cant even leave or enter my hometown without thinking about the next mission... -
How much with ARM effect the R&D tree?
Frank_G replied to HafCoJoe's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
This sentence should be a general advice in the forum rules. I think the whole progression system in the game is more of a nice little challenging aspect and not to keep players from getting further without fighting like hell. KSP is very much a fun game with educational touch... A tough progression curve simply doesnt fit the concept. I am looking forward to play the new career mode. -
Orange Tank needs a re skin and fix
Frank_G replied to Penguinhero's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
KSP has for sure way to go before its finished, but i would not talk about such topics right now (just an opinion)... what if the current textures are displaying an early state of kerbal technology, before being upgraded from a tin can to a shiny rocket tank? Cosmetic changes can be done, when it is clear what makes it into the game. Otherwise it would be optimization before creation... i think that would be a waste of work resulting in less progress in gameplay. Lets wait and see, where KSP wants to go. I am pretty much satisfied with what this game has to offer right now and i am surely eager to see, what SQUAD has in store for us in future updates.
