Just a question - why don\'t you make it 1m based? That should be quite easy now that you have all the parts, and it fits way better with '3 man apollo type capsule' that is the 1m stock part, not to mention all other mod packs created. If you fit a Mei Long capsule on that, it\'d be a complete simulation.
why? It is not made for launching capsules to orbit. it is made to launch big things to orbit like stations and such. =P Plus there is already a 1meter Falcon 9 looking thing. and this one is closer to the size of the real deal.
-
Welp I think i have all the pieces fleshed out. Nose cones make a huge difference. I want to change some things on the bottom adapter piece so we will see what I can do 360 weight of fuel and it still flys lol. I am a fan of my booster couplers.
-
@_@ unfortunately it is prone to SBSS (Side booster Spin Syndrome) On the plus side the second stage can do a powered landing sort of. doesn\'t matter though. with proper weight on top of it it will only get a few thousand before you eject them anyway lol.
-
hmm. no it just falls off. wtf no matte what this POS is not working right. the attach nodes arnl;t even updating.
-
i ahve a decoupler problem. it is a radial side attaching decoupler. form some reason on launch the base just falls off the anchor.
-
I agree. also can someone post more pictures of this thing? Please don\'t make an all-purpose parts pack. I don\'t want every bit of my hope of becoming successful smashed.
-
you make a nice rocket I can only hope my falcon 9 is as nice. though i am not going for the degree of realizm you do lol.
hell. you should make the n1 moon rocket. but like all the prices and correct sizes and colors and such since the silosko one is eh...
-
Indeed.Wow. Looking at the video this thing is gargantuan for a Kerbal.
once I figure out side mouting stuff this will be quite alot more gargantuan.
-
Normally it cannot make it to the moon as it burns up most fuel on 2nd stage but here it was hauling no weight so it was fine.
-
RCS module
Bye byye first stage!
-
in the part file for the parts. I cannot figure otu the numbers. i tried to figure it out by trying different combinations but i cannot figure it lol.
this sort of thing.
fx_gasJet_white = -1.9, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, rcsGroup0
// thruster orientations and thrust (X, Y, Z, Thrust)
thrustVector0 = 0, 0.0, 0.0, 10.0
-
new problem:
This video should explain

Here are the alpha parts, .craft is included.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1417259/awesome/New%20folder/Parts.rar
if anyone can figure this out i will be forever thankful.
also please no whining about mixed stuff. it is not a release it is a problem. in release all stuff will be fixed.
Old problem:
hi i cannot figure out the RCS thrust and effects. if i change X y changes. i am so confused.
For example lets say i want to have the effect off to the right 1, down 2, and turned 90 degress down then hav the thrust point straight down. what do i do?
-
that is the thing. Falcon 9 has none of these construction qualities. it is all seamless and very strong and lacks any unneeded weight add ons.
Friction Stir Welding leaves no seams and once polished there is no sign that it was welded.
if someone wants to find out a good base texture and specular level to look like this i would love you
-
Also, not quite sure how i should texture it. I mean the SpaceX Falcon 9 is made with friction Stir welding so it would not really have any seams, rivets or any other details on its parts tank wize. and they look like nice perfectly clean enamel on the out side. what should I use for a white base texture?
-
it can successfully haul 50 extra mass into space but the second stage becomes a case of the little engine that could. at first it says you have failed but after a good 4 - 6 minute burn and with momentum left over from the first stage you can get to orbit and have 1/4 tank of fuel left. Though i decided to up the second stage thrust a bit since the Merlin 1C-V is being replaced with a 1D space variant and will be a bit better in space. makes me wonder if spaceX rocket does the same in space lol.
now to make the RCS thing.
I would like to thank SpaceX for having a nice 1 axis Diagram of their fairing
-
So I made the fairings.
My look at all that space.
Then i tried to launch it with 100 extra mass in the fairing area. if it does get to the 2nd stage it fails to get it into orbit (which is good the Falcon heavy is for that) and just as i had hopped. sometimes, in true kerbal fashion, it can fail amazingly
-
hmm the regular ones I am not worried about I just don\'t want people using the space one to get to space lol. currently it is balanced close enough i think. if you try to take off full throttle with it it burns up semi quick. in space not so much.
but my those RCS tanks are huge lol. but I need to make the draco thrusters for it. although it flys pretty nicely with just thrust vectoring.
-
-
hey how would I make it like the solid rocket boosters and how they slowly heat up the whole way but never actually blow up form heat and run out of fuel just before?
srry but it will be a bit before I release anything. semester is not done yet and I have 3, 10 page papers to write @__@ I really should get to work but.. falcon 9 obsession is in full flare.
Oh look also made the merlin 1V
reference
-
thanks guys. it really would not look like anything without the textures I copy pasted from.
Question though. I made the tank. exported it. and now kerbal sp will not finish loading. what is the problem? i tried reexporting and nothing.
-
the real rocket is 3.66 meter so. yeah. plus I sort of like the massiveness of it. It will have a 4 meter fairing atop and will be used to launch heavy stuff to orbit like planetary landers. much like the real Falcon rockets it will be made merely to haul heavy stuff to orbit. it seems OP at first but when firing it it actually burns out before it can get you into orbit so the second stage will be needed. Thus I dub it not OP. lol.
-
made the adapter for the 9 engine block. looks similar but not exact which is what i wanted. Now to make the tank then texture.
as for launching it is pretty stable. I had to make a non thrust vectoring variant of it. if they where all vectoring it broke lol. so now just the center wobbles. I suppose in heavy loads you can change this It really moves with nothing atop it haha. I plan on making a 4 meter fairing to cap off whatever is ontop of it.
-
:/ in school but I found the problem before i left for it. there was no collisions enabled
anyway. now to make the adapter. I suppose I will do the 3 by 3 like the falcon 9 for a 3 meter tank. it is the only one of the proper size lol.
-
also, gimbling enabled because it is held on by so little lol. like the real one.
Yes gimble works. my only c0ncern is when it is enabled the engine seems to beable to get inside the fuel tank :/ i think i need to make my own tank.
I made an Engine :D

You all like my rocket and not my massive rocket?
