Daz 3D modeling software for free!
Technical Ben replied to Salda007's topic in KSP1 Modelling and Texturing Discussion
Ok, I\'ll check if it can be disabled. Sounds like a 'search and linking' tool. Like Googles search box in Sketchup. Or the bridging software (optional) in Photoshop/Indesign. So AFAIK the CMS thing is entirely optional, and you can disable it. It\'s not a spyware... [edit] Yep, it\'s only to allow you to use the folders and files in the DAZ program with ease. You can disable it. I suppose it\'s like .Zip integration that shows in right click. Or Thumbnail integration so you can see previews. But mainly it means when you click your 'files' icon or whatever in DAZ it know where all your pictures/objects/textures are without having to link them manually. http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=162343 Best option seems to be to click 'manual install' and unselect the CMS tool from the options list. This should avoid it all together. I think the call to the internet is just checking if you have a network HDD for it to find the tutorials/textures/objects etc on. -
Saturn V project

You\'ll never make it to employment then. 99% of the world works like this (I don\'t agree, but it\'s what I\'ve seen. ). Look at the banks, corporations and media for plenty of examples. Hey, they\'ve even started sacking Games programmers and Artists the day before a game releases with the loophole that the game made no money before the company closed down, so no one will get paid (yep, codemasters does it, it\'s dreadful). The only way to make it work is to either support people to learn themselves, or just walk on by. Not worth the time. -
Daz 3D modeling software for free!
Technical Ben replied to Salda007's topic in KSP1 Modelling and Texturing Discussion
Strange that. I\'d assume the product keys are valid forever though right? I guess I\'m use to being spoilt on Steam. It\'s got to be the worse download service ever if you only have a week to download. Puts me right off buying anything from them in the future. [edit] Under 'purchase history' you can request a 'download reset'. So presumably you could download at a later date, as your account will show you never downloaded the first time. Customer services would have a hard time arguing you are not allowed to download it at least once. But I\'ve not read the T&Cs. -
Daz 3D modeling software for free!
Technical Ben replied to Salda007's topic in KSP1 Modelling and Texturing Discussion
Nice. I was going to say that Daz and Bryce don\'t use polygons (loooong story) so are useless for modelling. However! They seem to have fixed that by making a third piece of software called Hexagon. But I\'ve never seen or used it before so don\'t know if it\'s compatible with KSP... Oh, the loooong story is, Bryce and Daz tend to use a different type of modelling system than most other software. They mainly use procedural and fractal generation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fractal_landscape So the files don\'t save a model or space ship for example, just the commands and maths to generate one from the procedural system. PS, I\'ve actually got a full copy of Bryce 2 or 3 lying around. They were actually a great company (Taken over by Corel, now Daz) who gave away old copies for free when the new versions came out as advertising. Truespace 6/7 is also another one released for free when they eventually closed down. [edit] Hexigon seems to have the tools needed to make parts, but not the exporter. But with the downloads you can do Hexagon model exported to Daz 4 then export to Collada for KSP. I\'ll see if I can get it working in the week then we can add this software to the list of usable tools. GET THIS WHILE YOU CAN! I suggest registering and 'purchasing' (no payment details taken!) so you can download at a later date. -
Do you mean that Blender created the node_collider in the wrong place? If that is the case, select the object in 'object' mode, and then type it\'s position in as something like 0,0,0 on X,Y and Z. Or move it by hand with 'G' for move. If you have put it there yourself, you can still set up top and bottom nodes. But side mounting only ever connect to the actual node collider mesh as far as I know.

Um. No, it\'s an actual Moon landing set. See. I\'m useless at flying, so I have not got a picture of it on the mun. It opens in zero atmosphere. No idea why you cannot open the crate, works my end. Add it to a empty stage, activate, done! As said, sorry people, the forum ate all my pictures and posts, so I\'ll have to repost them all when the forum gets an update, or if someone is nice to fix it.
-
Cool. But you forgot to open the present first! ;P
-
Oh, but it\'s a pain re-loading/linking everything.
-
Sorry GoDamitt. I never got around to it cos I could not post pics on my webspace like I normally do. That, and I keep crashing into the Mun. I\'ve asked around to see if anyone can do a screen cap for me. After the mega upload fiasco, the answer sadly is no.
-
You know that\'s not helping telling me that.
-
No not really. It worked for, oh, like years. Why? Because until now the forum did not auto parse links. Anything a computer does automatically has to either be correct, or able to be manually override. Why? Because computers get it wrong. Sorry I got so annoyed, but there is nothing more annoying than having someone else sit on your hands and yell at you for not lifting your arms... Can an exception be added to the parser, or can I disable it on my post?
-
Lol, Duh. ??? The forum AUTO PARSER (YOUTUBE LINKS ETC) is EATING my POSTS. Ok. So, like if anyone else tries to tell me how I should post my own links and sub domain again, I\'m gonna go crazy. PS, thanks Capt\'n, I\'m rolling on the floor now after that fail.

Nope, still broken.

No, that\'s not the URL. This is (without the lines) ___http://benart.www.idnet.com/TBpopcornOne.zip___

The rumours were true. The Mun landings were faked! We launched the entire set, cameras and production crew to the Mun to do it. The results fooled the entire world. Now it\'s your turn to relive the event. Self contained and extremely strong, the 'My First Mun Landing Diorama' (also know as project Popcorn One), has everything you could ever need. Includes a life size flag of the KSP institute. Unfortunately, the original photos were destroyed in a cover up. Please stand by as we launch another rocket to recover the cameras from the Mun. [sorry the forum no longer lets me post links... so use the upload below or type by hand] ___http://benart.www.idnet.com/TBpopcornOne.zip___

Flag, need now. For a secret project. Can anyone help?!
-
Oh. Yep. It\'s a pain as Blender use a really special (I think it\'s advanced multi PC/user workflow thingy) file management system. You can delve into each .blend file and actually take out each object as a separate file. So you have 2 options. Either delete all the parts you don\'t want, save it as a new file name 'shuttle part 1' etc, then return to your first file and do the same again. Or start a new file, go to 'append' (Which is blenders stupid substitute for the word 'import') and select the .blend file with your shuttle. Blender will now list the parts/materials ect all contained in that file, and you can select the shuttle part/s you want.

Looks like you either have a wafer thin satellite dish, or your normals are backwards. First off, select the 'face' you want to be the 'dish'. Use the 'C' button to go into select mode. Then use 'e' to 'extend' the surface. You should now have a satalite dish with some depth/thickness to it. This will help a bit. Then 'select all (A)' and go to 'recalculate normals' from the action list on the left. 'Normals' tell the computer and game which side of a polygon is the 'front' and the 'back'. The game does not draw the 'back' of polygons. So they need to face the correct side. If this does not work, I\'ll post up how to view and change normals.

Can you lan.... WOW, you landed back on it!?

KSP at American Museum of Natural History TONIGHT!

WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW! Hope you get some cool recognition! -
Oh, sorry, I missed that post. As you said, you were given wrong information. As far as I can tell, Wikipedia is hosted on US servers. So even the UK site would go down. Although, SOPA applies to non-us site apparently. The main problem seems to be with it allowing accusations (without proof) to cause take down actions. This would be extremely dangerous in it\'s self.
