  1. Yes that's the major draw back of relying on the Z axis mirroring. The part has to be designed so there's no obvious forward/backward directions, that also restricts use of spot lights as they would show one side is facing backwards.
  2. you can do it but the wheel design needs to be forward/backward agnostic. it's a little difficult to explain, but basically if you consider world axis in KSP, SPH will mirror parts along Z/-Z. so if you prebuild a 90 degree rotation so the part is aligned to Z/-Z in lateral deployment, the part will mirror and work when rotated in SPH to actual lateral attachment position in X/-X. check my post in lo-fi's wheel module thread for image of it working and few caveats.
  3. LOL. I admit it! I cheated. productive weekend... 4th engine; color scheme change; main landing gear; new lander leg for Karbonite. a little more kinds to iron out with landing gear, but getting there. todo: nose gear and tail gear to match main gear.
  4. very cool! I don't know anything about the realfuels mod. and very little about rocket engines beyond what I can read on some webpages. I just made them for looks. What changes do you suggest in the regular versions? The stats were drawn up using the stock counter part engines... 2.5m is poodle; 1.25 is LV909; 0.625m is rockmax 48-7s. 3.75m I kind of extrapolated fromt 2.5m. perhaps I can adjust the models for more visible gimble effects. mind if I include your realfuels patch in a a future update?
  5. perhaps the frequency at which this particular engine has been requested in such a short period made me more inclined to be negative toward it.
  6. Yes, there's been at least a dozen, probably 2 dozen, threads asking for this thing in the last couple of weeks. EmDrive, Quantum Vacuum Plasma Drive, Cannea drive... etc. My point is KSPI already made what you are asking for, very well I would add, in all aspects. And no, you don't have to apologize for anything.
  7. downloaded the twitch session, didn't realize it was in 3 parts. watched it a few times. Very helpful. Thanks for doing it! I'm taking a stab at landing gear that deploys laterally. I think I've worked around the Left/Right mirror thing without any special plugins. KSP doesn't mirror in the X/-X; but it does mirror in the Z/-Z direction. so I just rotated the lateral gear by 90 degrees so it's aligned to Z/-Z axis. in SPH, rotating it to proper lateral position, the opposite side will attach correctly mirrored, animation as well. Looks wise just have to model forward/backward agnostic for suspension linkages and such. only catch is LandingLight, they are direction dependent and will look flipped. edit1 well, I spoke too early looks like. trying to cheat the wheelcollider is bad idea. edit2, success! lateral deploy landing gears! now I just need to sort out wheelcollider suspension. Note: WheelCollider operates in World space, not local.
  8. any idea what mod might have this "FNPlugin.AtmosphericIntake.OnFixedUpdate()"?
  9. why do you model the default postion at max compression? why not model the default position at neutral compression?
  10. 1st test flight; the reason I made propeller engines
  11. KSPI uses MW to measure heat output. while MKS uses MW to measure electricity. Related, but not the same. KSPI's MJ unit is totally different resource. While the direct conversion rate is 1000EC = 1 MJ, there's no way to convert directly. You have to jump through the whole Microwave beam power hoop to convert EC to MJs I just pretend Mega Watt in Karbonite is really KiloWatt, which is what it really should be. Mega Watt is generally used to measure power generation of power plants; while consumption is generally measured in KiloWatts. TL;DR 1ElectricCharge(KSP) = 1KiloWatt = 1MegaWatt (Karbonite/MKS) = 0.001 MegaJoule(KSPI)
  12. check Main release thread 2nd post. RoverDude made a tutorial video. - - - Updated - - - Haven't sold myself on the colors yet. But it's a start.
  13. Thanks! the stock behaviour is hard to explain. This would save many landers and vessels.
  14. HURRAH, all is working now. I don't know why, I don't care. I think I have an idea why, at least with the buttons using ActionGroupSwitch.... but I'm not going to spend another 2 hrs to test. RPM heard I asked you about looking into it and decided to work properly. The power of fear. LOL
