Latest Releases Download: GitHub, SpaceDock Source (DSEV), Source (WildBlueTools) BARIS Wiki Now with CKAN support! Kelbin looked out the window of the orbital transfer shuttle at his new command: The Discovery II! Its long truss assembly had several radiators attached to it to keep the ship's revolutionary fusion engine cool. Its liquid hydrogen tanks held enough propellant to let Discovery II leave for Jool at any time. It'll be a long journey, but the cryopods let the crew sleep the whole way. Before he knew it, Discovery II will reach Jool, and the crew will be investigating those strange readings... The Deep Space Exploration Vessels (DSEV) mod is inspired by numerous NASA studies on deep space exploration. With DSEV, you can create your on deep space exploration vessels, or kerbal versions of: Discovery II: Kopernicus: NAUTILUS_X: Features LEGO-like part design lets you recreate the NASA spacecraft in Kerbal form or create your own designs. Stand-alone approach minimizes required mods. Textures are shared by several parts to conserve memory. So even if you hide parts in favor of another mod's counterpart, the textures they use are shared by parts that don't overlap. All crew spaces have custom IVAs. Command pods have Optional support for ASET Recommended Mods (ASET IVA support requires RasterPropMonitor & ASET Props Community Edition) Dependencies The Spin Hub and Counter Torque Ring require Infernal Robotics. DSEV is a Kerbal Space Program mod by Wild Blue Industries. If you want to boldly go, we'll get you there. [Min KSP: 1.12.2] Pathfinder - Space Camping & Geoscience
Angelo Kerman replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Get the latest here! Buffalo - Added ElectricCharge to the Buffalo Crew Cab and Wagon. - The Buffalo Wagon now properly shows up in the Utility tab. Module Manager Patches - Added Antenna Range Module Manager patch by badsector. Thanks badsector & linuxgurugamer! Bug Fixes - The Recycle ScrapMetal converter (which requires Extraplanetary Launchpads) now requires 9.75 units of ScrapMetal to produce 1 unit of Metal. This accounts for conservation of mass and for density differences between Metal and ScrapMetal. - Fixed an issue in the commercial science lab where it was incorrectly converting the lab's data into Funds and Reputation instead of its stored Science. - Fixed an issue in the commercial science lab where it would remove the stored science before completing data transmission. - The commercial science lab will only show the Publish Research and Sell Research buttons when in Career Mode.- 3,523 replies

[Min KSP: 1.12.2] Pathfinder - Space Camping & Geoscience
Angelo Kerman replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I added the USI link to the first post. Thanks for the link. I'll add the AntennaRange patch into the next release, which will be real soon. I think you're reading into things a bit much. I have a specific goal in mind for Pathfinder's difficulty levels that I'm working towards, and USI-LS isn't part of the plan. I took some time today to work on the mod's wiki. It's definitely a work in progress and incomplete, but you can see the start of it here.- 3,523 replies

... Or, with Kerbin being destroyed, maybe you could have a spinoff series involving a base on the Mun that has weekly adventures while flying some fancy spaceships as the Mun flings across the universe...

[DEVTHREAD]Pathfinder - Space Camping & Geoscience
Angelo Kerman replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I'm using densities per unit of resource to help match things up. According to the resource definitions established by Extraplanetary Launchpads, Metal has a density of 0.039 tonnes/unit, and ScrapMetal is 0.004 tonnes/unit. I've fixed it so that 9.75 units of ScrapMetal produces 1 unit of Metal, taking into account the density of Metal and ScrapMetal. Turning Metal into RocketParts is already done by EL and MetalOre into Metal is also done by EL and if you look at the comments in EL's smelters you'll see the process. -

Ok, I just checked, the IronWorks' values for Metal and ScrapMetal match those found in EL. To break the perpetual metal machine, I'll have to use different values. -
[Min KSP: 1.12.2] Pathfinder - Space Camping & Geoscience
Angelo Kerman replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'm curious to know why so many want USI-LS in the baseline support. The only real differences would be in the storage templates and maybe the Pigpen. The Prairie uses a different method to generate food than USI-LS's greenhouses and probably needs to be disabled or replaced when using USI-LS in order to ensure a consistent user experience. Why not just use MKS? I guess I'm also asking how people use Pathfinder as I don't really hear about that. Mostly people just post bug reports, heh.- 3,523 replies

Thanks for the feedback. I based the metal ratios on Extraplanetary Launchpads. I'll take a look and make sure they match those from EL. I thought they did... MetaOre also comes from EL; when I integrate another mod, such as EL or OSE Workshop, I adopt the resources it uses. If I created my own resources, you'd have to do some mental flips to figure out the production chain depending upon which mod you're using, and the integrated mod's storage tanks would no longer be helpful. Pathfinder does revert to MetallicOre->Metals->RocketParts when EL isn't installed. Maybe what's needed is for EL to patch ScanSat so it will show up. Thanks for the suggestion on the Gold Digger. There was a request for a generic equipment tripod earlier, I'll add your suggestion to the list. Finally, I'll put my technical writing skills to use and update the wiki page so folks know how the modules inter-relate. No worries. To drill for MetallicOre, right-click on a drill (both Gold Digger and stock Drill-O-Matic), and press the "Modify Drill" button. You'll see a window where you can change what the drill extracts. I'll be sure to include these steps in the wiki. Cool, glad you've got a patch that works. -

Glad you like the mod. I should have some bug fixes and documentation later this week as well. Nice! Sounds like you've got the patches that work for you. I was considering Antenna Range but holding off for KSP 1.1. I can add that to the baseline mod if you like.- 3,523 replies

The hub uses Infernal Robotics, so if there's an issue, you might want to report it there. -
No begging needed, I take requests. And if you need personal jetpacks for those rumored KSMC kerbals, I've got you covered.

[DEVTHREAD]Pathfinder - Space Camping & Geoscience
Angelo Kerman replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
No worries, I understand, thank you for considering the mod, sorry it doesn't meet your needs. USI-LS doesn't fit my vision for the mod, though somebody did create a patch for it. Glad you like the latest updates. I have more work to do on the Buffalo, such as the in-space components. All in good time though. My brain decided that it needed to let the Buffalo designs percolate for a bit, so here's what I'm working on next: Forgot to mention four words: Duna, Eve, Kerbin, Laythe. -
As promised, here's my next project: You'll find the development process over on the Pathfinder Dev Thread.

Thanks! I'm glad you like the mod. Thanks. USI-LS doesn't fit my vision for the mod. But Pathfinder gives you options to match your play style. So when people ask about USI-LS, they'll be able to locate your patch files. Hm. Well, the Buffalo is integral to Pathfinder (and will work nicely with DSEV Phase 2), and fits the mod's theme of being on the go, prospecting for good resources, improving extraction rates on drills, that sort of thing. The downside for me is having to support a whole bunch of different mods, and that becomes a chore. But I anticipated that people might want to use the Buffalo separately, so if you look in the Assets folder, you'll find the Buffalo in its own separate directory. The only thing you'll need is the WildBlueTools directory, which contains the plugin used by the MSEV as well as its common storage templates. You'll also need Community Resource Pack for its community resource definitions. Next release I'll look into making it more separable for those who just want the MSEV.- 3,523 replies

Heh. If you check my sig you'll see a link to the release thread. Kenlie reminds me of somebody who feels under appreciated and needs a fantasy life, through his story, to get an outlet for his needs. He might want to change the names of the characters to protect the innocent though... heh!

Well, now that the Beta release is out, I can focus on learning more about IVAs and adding a bit of functionality to create the in-space variant of the Buffalo MSEV. Some inspiration comes from: And of course: -

Thanks all! I've only created two IVA views (the Buffalo Command Cab and Crew Cabin), so I'm still a newbie. The base IVAs are definitely placeholders. and now that I have a basic understanding of how to make an IVA, I have some research and planning to do...- 3,523 replies

[DEVTHREAD]Pathfinder - Space Camping & Geoscience
Angelo Kerman replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Get the latest here! 0.8.0: Pathfinder Beta: Home On The Range NOTE: This is a beta release, there are bound to be bugs. This release Introduces the Buffalo Modular Space Exploration Vehicle (MSEV). It is based upon NASA's real-world Multi-mission Modular Space Exploration vehicle (MMSEV). Just like the NASA vehicle, the Buffalo can be configured as a rover, but it doesn't stop there. (Coming Soon!) The Buffalo can become an asteroid exploration craft, a munar lander, a cargo hauler, and more. This initial offering provides the components needed to build the "space truck" version of the Buffalo; future versions will offer in-space functionality. The best thing is that the Buffalo can be assembled by an engineer via KIS, and the vehicle is sized to fit into a standard 3.75m cargo bay! The Buffalo components include: Buffalo Command Cab: A command pod that seats two kerbals, with Stock IVA and ASET Props/Avionics-based IVA (highly recommended). It also has integrated ladders. Buffalo Crew Cab: A crew cabin that seats two kerbals, also with IVA. It also has a rooftop solar panel. Buffalo Wagon: A.K.A. the Wagon, this Buffalo Storage Container holds lots of resources when deployed. It is a semi-rigid container that is shaped like the Crew Cab, and it too has solar panels on its roof. Chassis (1u): The chassis serves as the foundation for the Buffalo. It is sized to the same length and width of a KIS standard SM-62 storage container/Buckboard/Ponderosa. While it is initialy configured as a battery, the Chassis can store a variety of different resources once converted to storage. Chassis (2u): Same as above, but it's twice as long. Standard Flatbed (1u): Sized to be as wide as the Buffalo cabin, the flatbed is sized to hold 2 SM-62 containers/Buckboards/Ponderosas. While it takes an engineer to mount the flatbed onto a chassis, anybody can put cargo on the flatbed. Standard Flatbed (2u): Same as above, but twice as long. Wide Flatbed (1u): A wider version than the standard flatbed, the wide flatbed can hold 3 SM-62 containers/Buckboards/Ponderosas. It is sized to fit in a standard 3.75m cargo bay. Wide Flatbed (2u): Same as above, but twice as long. Trailer Hitch: This specialized "docking port" is used to connect trucks and trailers together. It also has an integrated ladder. Chassis Decoupler: For those times when you need to mount a Buffalo to a rocket, the chassis decoupler fits the bill. Interim Wheel: Based on the RoveMate M1, the Interim Wheel provides ground transportation while we wait for KSP 1.1 and its better wheel system. Bug Fixes - Fixed an issue with the stack node on the Mineshaft. Now you can use it to close the gap between Buffalo modules separated by trailer hitches! Personal Note: This release marks a major milestone for Pathfinder; it's reached beta! There's more work to do but I've finally completed my initial vision for the mod. At this point, this thread will become the dev thread, and you can find the release thread here. Thank you much for your continued support of Pathfinder, I look forward to hearing your continuing feedback. - - - Updated - - - Ok! Now that I've hit my deadline, I can start looking at how to disable the KIS release button. That's a tricky one..
