ASET Props Pack. v1.5 (for the modders who create IVA)
Angelo Kerman replied to alexustas's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Thank you, that really clears things up! Here's what I've come up with so far: I might move the life support elsewhere and add more RPMs, but it's coming along nicely. One more question: Is there a life support monitor for Snacks? -

I am starting to lay out the cockpit controls and discovere the Flight Deck Light, Engineer Deck Light, and Cabin Flood Light. How do I tie these buttons into an IVA light or lights? -
In my mind, I was hearing "Stealing the Enterprise" from Star Trek 3 while reading these latest pages. Great Work!

More IVA Questions
Angelo Kerman replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Modelling and Texturing Discussion
Heh. Now I get why IVAs can be tricky. But I'm having a blast figuring out the layout. Thanks! It needs some work but I think it's getting there. One thing I'll do is replace the display graphic on the air filtration units with actual props. Here are some more internal views. The idea is that you'll have a HUD, so the instruments aren't as visible with the default camera view that you get when you enter the IVA view for the first time. -
More IVA Questions
Angelo Kerman replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Modelling and Texturing Discussion
D'Oh! Thank you much, that was the rookie mistake! When it comes to IVAs, I am a rookie, heh! -
Has anybody had a situation like this, where the IVA falls out of the cockpit? Here's my Unity setup: I can't figure out why the interior suddenly has dropped out of the cockpit. I don't have any props installed yet, I'm just trying to set up the basic IVA. Thanks for your help!

Thanks! This is not bad for my very first IVA attempt: I need to rework where the control panels go, I have to figure out how to add a tinted window, and the cockpit absolutely begs for a HUD. But hey, it's getting there! -

Question about IVAs and colliders

Ohhhh ok, thank you, that explains it. -
ASET Props Pack. v1.5 (for the modders who create IVA)

Finally I get to play with your ASET props! One question though: do people tend to bundle the props with their mods, or simply make ASET Props Pack a required mod? In regards to the kOS prop, I'm curious about how it would work. Is the intent to have all the readouts on the screen, or simply click on the prop and bring up the standard kOS window? I ask because I'm sucktacular at making IVAs (well, considering that I've never made one before...) but I'm really good at programming. -
Hi all, I am working on my first IVA, and it's been loads of fun (not in a sarcastic way). I've been following some tutorials by nil2work but one question I have is regarding colliders. I know that parts need colliders, but I'm confused about colliders for IVAs. are they needed? For instance, the crew cab I built has a floor, do I need a collider for the floor? What about colliders for the sides of the cab, are they needed? Here's a reference: Thanks for the help.

Thanks! I'm hard at work on the next item, here's a hint: I haven't done this before so it's taking a bit. -
@MOARdv: I am about to create an IVA and I understand that you can have transparent windows with RPM. How would I go about doing that? Is that feature in the documentation somewhere? Thanks!

I am, and iit will be in the Pathfinder thread. It is next on my list. I can't use this mod as a basis due to the license but the concept is one I've had for awihile.

A Thread for Writers to talk about Writing

Thanks! I took the idea and am running with it. I took the night off from modding to create an outline of a story. Of course I need to finish my mods before making the story, but hey, that gives me time to work things out. -

I think I get what you're saying about character development. Here's a writing exercise I came up with, set on the very first manned flight. “I’m scared, Bill.†“You? THE Jebediah Kerman, scared?†“Yeah, I’m scared. Just don’t tell anybody ok?†“I’ll erase the flight tapes later, buddy.†“…Oh yeah, right.†“What’s bothering you, Jeb?†“You know, the old legends. Up in the heavens, ‘here there be Kraken’ the old scripture says.†“There’s no such thing as Krakens, Jeb. Just bad luck. “ “But what if they’re real?†“They aren’t, trust me, and you won’t have bad luck today, either.†“Right. Yeah.†“You want to abort the flight?†“Krak no, CAPCOM! I’m scared but you know what they say, there’s no courage without fear. *sigh* Let’s light this candle!†“Right! Alright then! Resuming countdown, T-minus two minutes.†Oh, and thanks again for the advice to asky why the kerbals are going to space. That's opened up a bunch of ideas. -

Interesting. Thanks for the advice! I think my problem right now is that I don't have much to say when it comes to stories. I can describe how things work pretty well (helps to be a software engineer by trade), I can create history and backstory, but figuring out the why, the motivations, the direction- that's a tough one for me. I think the closest I got so far was with STS, where Bill, Bob, and Jeb were building a ship in orbit and were recalled to KSC to test the new Shuttle, with a backstory of saving an aging space station. It was done as part of the Space Shuttle Challenge by Inigma. I was constrained by showing missions in the challenge, so it got drawn out. Now that I think of it, I guess one of the themes was "just because it's old doesn't mean it should be thrown away." I'll have to think on that for future stories. BTW, the graphic novel format Kuzzter pioneered is a fabulous idea! -

Make sure to do a fresh install from GitHub. If you use CKAN to install the mod, it appears that CKAN corrupts the install. Also, make sure to properly bolt the Saddle to the ground. If you can move the Saddle then it's not properly bolted. Also, be sure to set up your base on even terrain. A hillside is ok, just make sure you don't have a bunch of variations in the terrain. What do you mean by "forced me to revisit every lab?" The only thing that Pathfinder does is add the commercial science lab to all lab parts that have a ModuleScienceConverter. If you don't want that to happen, simply rename MM_CommercialScienceLab.cfg to MM_CommercialScienceLab.txt and restart the game. -

The problem I kept running into before abandoning my writing efforts is how to develop the plot for my KSP missions. What to do to make them stand out... I got stuck with the KSOS Mission Chronicles, and had to keep STS short to try and keep some sort of plot to a workable level. Trying to do something like Duna, Ore Bust, Eve: Order Zero or Project Kappa is beyond me. How do you guys do it? Side note: Kuzzter's KSMC idea is really intriguing, so much so I started writing a character for it, heh. But once again, I got stuck with what the character would do in the game...
