I suggest we pick someone from the group to volunteer for the Mars mission. 'Hey Elon, we here from the pristegious kerbal spaceflight and science forum have been following your every move and speculating ad nauseum and completely-needlessly about what your company is doing and going to do in the future. Given our irrational need to armchair quarterback your company we have selected a rather unintelligent and gullible person to be the first person to land on Mars. Note it does not need to be a return mission because our rather fractuous tribe think of this as a sacrifice to the roman god of War, Mars. Please try to drop this person on a spot that we will still not be able to see without our planet hunting low resolution telescopes. Keep up the good work and keep us speculating.'

Why would you ask that, you mean like their poles oppose so the slam into each other at the speed of light, why don't we make them out of matter and anti matter , I bet that would set off the ligo detectors. How far out would that sterilize all life, few hundred light years.

Not as near or far as it actually once was. What do you get when you homogenize prune juice with fermented goats milk? -
Granted, but they are all cheap plastic toy rockets. I wish NASA would let us play/test fire the Saturn V full sized model at space center houston.

I think hes asking how can light be magnetically powered if the spindown radiation is less than normal neutrons. I think the answer is that in normal neutrons the major mass layers are more tightly coupled but spinning faster. In a magnetar that might have resulted from recent collisions, its is spinning slower but the two mass layers are less tightly coupled, one is spinning much faster than the other, potentially in opposite directions, as a result despite the low speed a large transient magnetic field is generated. Electromagnetism is reciprocations between the two components of light, mwith a strong magnetic field coupkes electric field capable of stripping anything, everything of its elctrons and shooting them intonspace at very high speeds in the magnetic field, collisions would generate alot of blavk pole like wavelengths. Needless to say this is a environment very hostile to human spaceflight, not to worry these stars radiation is relativly short lived, mand eventually they go grey.

I don't want to be the one who colonizes a inhabited system. I might land a sample return rocket to a laboratory in a decaying orbit to see what type of life developed and maybe look for new and interesting chemistry which would be digitally summarized and sent before the probe-lab decayed into orbit.

But cannot make the enzymes that make the lipid bilayer membrane that contains itself. Second, you are guessing, its just about as bad as Aetheon and his bias. Nothing has changed, noone has created life from the sterile chaotic culture in a laboratory. The error of disbelief in science is the creation of the overstated case. There is a concept of coevolution, most commonly supported by the ubiquitous nature of ribosomes in both major divisions of microbes. There is some disaggreement of codon usage, but RNA and protein functions are interlaced. This is something that has to happen before lipid bilayers can be synthesized. Thus the idea of RNA first or protein first is another false dichotomy.

Yes, where do you intend to take the first bite? -
But the auxially power was based on the temperatur diffential of the insolated and dark sides of moho, thermocouple based, i only fooled you into thinking the decoy power failed, instead the base has grown and diversified. The underground base is completely immune to solar flares or power failures, and everyone has achieved transcendental immortality. Being inside the dyson sphere, the mission is to take it over and turn it into the next set for keeping up with the kardashians, i of course ban video media on moho.

But kerbil is not large enough and the density of the weapons has it make a horseoribit and returning at the soeed of light intersects you ship destoying you and all future instances of you. In addiotion my armada is spead to all the planets and iiradiating them so tge faikure oone launch only irradiates on ship I make a 100 ships that go to irradiate that one remaining planet the one remaining planet, each traveling in from a different direction.

A new flat (2mm) lens that can magnify light
PB666 replied to PB666's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Yes, you are missing a new generation of photovoltaics were the light is focused by one device and converted to electricity by another. If you can produce a focusing panel for one third the mass and use a power conversion panel one tenth the mass you effectively increase the power mass efficiency by 3 fold. The orher benefit is that in situations were you need a minimal amount of power to make panels worthwhile, this can effectively make an underlit panel sufficiently lit. I have to repeat this again because there is a historic tendency in this group to misuderstand these technologies. Nothing like this will reach space, shocking as that may seem. Every technology needs to be reworked and reapplied to reach space and in the process some things will rise faster than others. What I found was interesting in designing the ultimate SEP is that if you really want to have alot of power you need panels that roll out, panels that go from very compact spaces to completely fillng the maximum 2D space that the structural can support. This is not easy to achieve with current technology, particularly with crystalline arrays, and the most efficient arrays are cystalline. The other problem is moving electrons. 1000 sq meter panel, alot of the mass goes into moving electrons on average 75 meters at 24V. That is to say you have to move 300KW of power at 24 V. There is therefore a need to concentrate the power generation to motifs that can step up the voltage for commuting electrons. If this can be broken up to panels that generate a stepped up voltage by higher power density in smaller strips then the step up transformers may not be required and the panel weights go down. Overwhelmingly in a SEP ship the problem is the energy density/mass. So that the basic problem is to get the voltages up at the source as mass efficient as possible and reduce the panel and the electronics and structural devoted to supporting thos panels. What actually gets this done only the future can telll, but I can see promise in multiple technologies to get there. If you don't see where i am going, try building a shell ship for SEP propulsion, alot of the gorey problems become apparent in the attempt to design. At some point there is just know way to launch the shell inside a fairing. This gets into the basic problem of how to rollout something that will inevitably several football fields in size for use as a space tug, will it be worth it if you cant get the mass and structure down. -
Destroy it or not, its fate is to be destroyed, wait 5 billion years. This is just like a plant saying, i shouldnt photosynthesize because it will deprive the ground of light. The plant is rock, it is made from space rocks, whatever decision it makes is that of a space rock. You think because yor are living your fate is different from rock, then wait 80years and reask We can ask the question about divesity, its a reasonable one, but the caveot of Earth is already in progress, it aint going to stop because of antiselective behavior, those things just go extinct and we find their remains only as rocks.

A new flat (2mm) lens that can magnify light
PB666 replied to PB666's topic in Science & Spaceflight
You can make them out of light materials, since rhe structure is essentially non crystalline, unlike solar panels you can role the out over great distant and taught them like a rope. I should add to this that solar panels need to be replaced at least every 100 years. If you used this system youbwould still have to replace the panels, but only one tenth the mass, so that the mass needed to carry is less. -
Unilkely, you are talking about prebiotic conditions, those prior to encapsulation. RNA is one of the most labile substances on earth, that is a likely consequence of the first cells excreating the enzyme RNAse to clean up the competition.

Suddenly discovers what gender is for. What happens when test fire the exhaust from a Nerva into the VAB? -
But the workers had not been fed, given they were mechanoids they eat your station, then eat minmus. Still on moho I begin build deep underground facilites.

Errrr, niether dynamite or nitroglycerin need air to detonate, blows up anyway, game over. I am president of the we heart Dres society having recently lost Kerbin to explosives we settle the passing Dres. But just to make sure there are no passing threat we send radioactive Cesium to all the other bases to sterilize them.

Ali stood out because he took on the system. There was a war, one side wanted to paint that it was about economic systems, it was about nationalism. Ali correctly saw that and pointed out that he had no reason to fight a people who done nothing to him. He was right, later most americans saw that. prior to 1965 you stood up and got drafted into some rich mans war, we got rid of the draft later, we haven't had a draft since. Because of corruption our armed forces lost respect, because they reformed they got their respect back. Ali stood up at a time when a person of his make would stand up and get hung, he not only stood up but he leaned against a bad system, he bettered himself, his family and the folks around him. He did not a cept the status quo or his station in life, he pushed up and pushed the system up. I dont agrre with his tone or arrogance, but a child ofvthe sixties, i cant also agree with alot of crapnthat went on at that time. -
