That's plain nasty! Think of the poor kerbonauts being blasted off to space in a bleeping spin dryer! But it works, and they where green in the face already when hired ...

Crashes Post 1.1.X Simple Question for the affected ones
Curveball Anders replied to AlamoVampire's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Indeed it might be. The problem is that it's not a very obvious issue since it only happens for some (many as you are) users and it doesn't seem to be related to any specific action in the game. So if it can be traced to interaction between KSP/Unity and some other software on one platform then it's possible to find out what's happening on other platforms. -
Took a Science Lander thingy to the Mün. But I miscalculated and had way to much fuel left in the transfer stage so I stopped by my Münar station and dumped the surplus there (and dropped the spent stage). A Science Lander and an almost empty Progress was already attached so it's a bit crowded Edit: Reached a new level of fail, or possibly a new level of kerbonaut safety. When I went to undock and land the beast on the Mün I realised that I'd forgot to add crew to the lab (or they ran away). So now I'll have to add an extra mission shipping two scientists to their new office.

Crashes Post 1.1.X Simple Question for the affected ones

Ah, but the Linux crashes are probably not related, at least not directly, to the windoze crashes. -
Crashes Post 1.1.X Simple Question for the affected ones
Curveball Anders replied to AlamoVampire's topic in KSP1 Discussion
C(rud) Cleaner https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CCleaner is a useful tool to find, list and possibly deactivate stuff that might cause issues. It's a little bit more user friendly than msconfig, but note that it can be as dangerous if not handled with care. -
Courage and stupidity

I really hope no. If there's any more people management added I'll have to abandon career mode forever :/ I'm into engineering, not HR ... -
Crashes Post 1.1.X Simple Question for the affected ones
Curveball Anders replied to AlamoVampire's topic in KSP1 Discussion
"NTDLL.DLL exports the Windows Native API. The Native API is the interface used by user-mode components of the operating system that must run without support from Win32 or other API subsystems." Basicly it's a core part of windows and crashes in it happens when calling programs do something stupid. Your idea about OneDrive was a valid guess. In the current situation where the game crashes over and over again for some users while not at all for others despite running more less exactly the same environment it more or less has to be some external (external to KSP that is) software component that doesn't play nice with KSP (or that KSP doesn't play nice with). I'd bet a beer that it will be some installed service/helper that plugs into the memory or otherwise monitors system calls. It might very well be that the issue actually is in KSP or Unity but until the issue is tracked down it's impossible to locate and fix. -
Always slap some cheap solar panels somewhere on the payload, to make sure you never end up in limbo with other resources but no EC to use them.

Check the IVA views and note that like 60% of all drawers are full of snacks ... So 'only' is a strange word to use in combination with 'on board snacks' on any Kerbal vehicle, it's not like a cheap airline

Rather "Ooops, that wasn't supposed to happen!"

and snacks.

Did an eyeball launch of a robotic resupply (aka a Progress) to a manned (actually it was womanned or possibly kerballed) pod stuck in high Kerbal orbit at 81 deg inclination. After they got their fuel and snacks they continued their op of bringing interesting science reports to a lab in near polar orbit (they ran out of fuel trying to match it's 87 deg inclination ...) I'm now planning the delicate op of getting the still quite heavy, bulky and slow manoeuvring Progress to try and dock and resupply the ditto lab. Which is like getting two grown elephants to play 'pass-the-apple' without bumping into each other or using their trunks ... In Orbit ...

1.1.2 even less stable than prerelease
Curveball Anders replied to nosirrbro's topic in KSP1 Discussion
In my experience there's some kinds of software that often cause 'strange' malfunctions in other programs. Antivirus/antimalware that features 'live monitoring'. GPU optimizers, both official and 3:rd-party, that monitors performance and adjust settings on the fly. Memory/CPU optimizers (if that's even still a thing). Download/network managers/optimizers (including <expletive> browser toolbars/helpers. VPN/Tunneling (like Hamachi) or unused but not inactivated network adapters (firewire/wifi/vlan). Back in years long yonder when I did (volunteer) tech support this was the first things I looked for when trying to solve/trace bugs/crashes that wasn't easy to reproduce. -
I got a bit curious since I've noted to at least one of my white-suits appeared to meet even the most hilarious manoeuvres with a big goofy smile. So I checked the file of my current save (science mode). And actually 6 out of 34 had 'BadS = True' (including Val & Jeb), so 4 out of 30 random recruits.

The Grand KSP 1.1 Discussion Thread
Curveball Anders replied to KasperVld's topic in KSP1 Discussion
As you go higher, you need to travel further to establish a survivable ballistic trajectory. The basic principle of "more power to get me higher" simple doesn't work, you need to get the trajectory right. About twice as far as high if I remember my Mercury suborbital flights correctly. -

It sounds like only a very steep trajectory could crash that. What's your Pe at Ap? -
1.1.2 even less stable than prerelease
Curveball Anders replied to nosirrbro's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Same here. Been playing quite a lot of hours during the weekend and not a single glitch (except missing some mods the first hours after patching until modmanager was updated). -
KSP: Salvage One - turned - video game??

That rocket even looks like something out of KSP! -
Kerbal Space Program patch 1.1.2 is now live!

Always create a backup before an update. This goes for all software. -
It worked flawlessly for me (win10 and store).

Well modders aren't required to do anything, and while documenting their creations is highly appreciated, I'm just happy for the functionality (most of the times). But it was very good of the devs to open up the API and also document how documentation can be included in a standard way. (Maybe this comes back to the fact that so many staff are modders in their sparetime )

I usually spend way much more time building and testing 'optimal' vehicles to shuttle tourists around than actually flying them. It's normally a professionally crewed (if that's possible with a Kerbals) so I can snag some experience for the crew at the same time.

What feature could you not live without?
Curveball Anders replied to theradRusssian's topic in KSP1 Discussion
This. As I wrote in some other thread I have a beaten up old laptoy (basicly a typewriter) that I bring along when I leave home for summerhouse or other travels. I keep it updated (there's currently 3 different KSP installs on it) despite the fact that it can barely launch a 3 part rocket at 3 fps without melting or hover off the table due the fans going ballistic (including the cooling pad). The reason is that with it I can sit anywhere and play in the VAB to plan (and dream about) the missions I might (as in never) do when I get back home . So if you see a (mostly) grey-haired dude, happily slacking at a porch of a little cottage with a laptop it's probably me -
Finally got around to build and launch a combined Orbital Taxi Mk2 and refueller for an earlier Orbital Taxi Mk1 (that got stuck in orbit without enough fuel to get down below 70k). Op successful, 6 stuck/stranded brave Kerbals back on Kerbin and ready for new missions (after eating some fresh snacks).

That was the KSP x64 version in Unity4. I've used 1.1 x64 for over a week now without any x64 related issues.
