Yep, it would make no sense at all to send a probe with not enough memory storage. The only reason why they would suspend communications in this time is because they need the energy for all the instruments rather then transmitting data which needs lots of power.

It can have also advantages to be able to manually patch and not forced to. You can't start a Steam game before the actual patch isn't installed. I had already a few situations that made me hate Steam for this behavior.

Better it's easy at stock and you have to mod it to make it harder then the other way round, you can't expect a kid to download and install a bunch of mods to make it playable.

While the HRSC is capable of producing RGB only images it would be a waste of its capabilities. HRSC is always transmitting images with all 9 channels it records. It's up to the mission guys to convert this images in RGB form so we can watch them but they are free to transform channels like near infrared into the red channel for an example so we could also see the infra red stuff in the images. Even if they would compose a image that uses only the 3 RGB channels it would still be a false color image. If you're being pedantic you can even say that images taken with normal consumer cameras are false color images because a composite image of the channels a CCD chip records never will reach the natural color capabilities of the human eye and also most consumer cams add some effects to the pictures to look more attractive.

And that last statement is based on what? Science? Observation? Mathematics? Trolling? For me it seems it's based on hype. One guy got the idea there might be black holes and everyone liked that idea and build a framework around that. Today nobody doubts anymore about their existance even without ever seeing them or having rock solid evidence for it. It's easy to claim something is there if that thing is not observable, detectable or whatever. It's as good as claiming there is a omnipotent being but it won't step in contact with us.

Yeah this is something that worries me also. I'm not going to upgrade if that is going to be confirmed. I don't like to put shackles on me voluntary. I don't have any idea yet what drawbacks the Win10 upgrade could bring, which software won't run anymore because of incompatibilities and what other things like AppStores Microsoft tries to force upon us. Microsoft is like every company win oriented, giving such upgrades for free is for sure very well calculated by them and they will get their money for this by other means.
