[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18
blu3wolf replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Then we are in complete agreement, and are arguing semantics. Incidentally, you can measure GS without GPS. Just need an INS for that.- 14,073 replies

[1.10.0] Final Frontier - kerbal individual merits 1.10.0-3485

Again, orange suits are a cool idea, but anything that would require them to die first is something I would never want forced in an update. Some of us use permadeath. -
[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18
blu3wolf replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Well that is simply not true. Sophisticated aircraft display CAS, TAS or GS on request. In real life, affordable (ha!) planes have simple instruments which can only display IAS. Whack an EGI on the sucker and you can do it all.- 14,073 replies

[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18
blu3wolf replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
without wind, the ground speed GS is equal to the true airspeed TAS. The indicated airspeed IAS is roughly the TAS at sea level, but accumulates error at higher altitudes. Basically the IAS is the result of imperfect instrumentation. The equivalent airspeed EAS is the IAS after calibration to correct the imperfections (and that makes it TAS again), and after correction for compressibility (which is where it becomes EAS). I havent really wrapped my head around EAS properly, but the way it works (I believe) is that EAS will be significantly lower than TAS, as it gives you the effective airspeed you are travelling at, with respect to the amount of air going over the wings. At least, thats the way it works in Falcon. Problem there is that that speed is CAS which should not have the compressibilty correction. Im sure someone here can set us both straight with how it works in FAR- 14,073 replies

If you do make this change, please also include an option to keep things the way they currently are. -

Ah, an incredibly detailed bug report! I am certain that will be of great use. Fancy seeing you here. Can't say as Ive seen any issues with StageRecovery so far - seems to play nice with FAR, FMRS and RealChutes.- 14,073 replies

[1.10.0] Final Frontier - kerbal individual merits 1.10.0-3485
blu3wolf replied to Nereid's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
new career mode save started today, but using FAR this time. Will take them a bit longer to get 'first kerbal in space' ribbons this time! With the custom ribbons, is it possible to add more custom ribbons, possibly using a mod? Im wanting to add an Australia analogue ribbon, as there is a good number of other ribbons which are flag analogues. -
[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18

It should be clarified that parachutes have a safe operation envelope. Rare (and expensive) is the real life parachutes which are 'zero-zero' chutes that work down to 0 altitude, 0 airspeed. You need to have more altitude when you pop that chute. Try it from a kilometer. - - - Updated - - - Im not the expert on this topic around here... but shouldnt atmospheric drag cause a net reduction in orbital energy? body lift is going to put either a radial or normal force on the vehicle... dont you need a prograde force to raise apoapsis? By all means, someone correct me if Im wrong, Im intrigued here.- 14,073 replies

[1.10.0] Final Frontier - kerbal individual merits 1.10.0-3485
blu3wolf replied to Nereid's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I dont even have that excuse... I just didnt realise (its sorta obvious in retrospect) that Scansat made changes in the persistence file... Guess this gives me a chance to make a new career save (again) for the KSP release.... -

\I got teh bug pretty sure I lost the ribbons just after installing SCANsat. I dont think I have a save with the ribbons still either, so that sucks -
[1.10.0] Final Frontier - kerbal individual merits 1.10.0-3485
blu3wolf replied to Nereid's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Im using CKAN and havent noticed any lost ribbons. I have noted a few cases where I have reverted a flight, and the ribbons are still awarded though. -
[1.10.0] Final Frontier - kerbal individual merits 1.10.0-3485
blu3wolf replied to Nereid's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
@DesTroy: @Nereid: In fairness the 7.12 update is pretty recent. When NetKAN runs next it should index CKAN to show 7.12 instead of 7.9. -
They can burn up in the atmosphere given a steep enough reentry...

[1.12.x] Kerbal Alarm Clock v3.13.0.0 (April 10)
blu3wolf replied to TriggerAu's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The CKAN meta files reckon 3.3.0.1 is specifically for KSP 1.0.0 - if its working on 1.0.2 then that needs to be updated. - - - Updated - - - made a pull request to label the latest version of KAC as being 1.0.2 compatible here: https://github.com/KSP-CKAN/CKAN-meta/pull/438 -
[1.3.0] Kerbal Engineer Redux 1.1.3.0 (2017-05-28)
blu3wolf replied to cybutek's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Last time I looked, KER only reported torque from misaligned thrust vector - I was under the impression it was intentionally not calculating aero effects. Thats certainly the behavior I want out of it, anyway - unless controls are added to give torque for a specific atmospheric pressure. - - - Updated - - - Also, the torque caused from drag would vary with a heap of things, you cannot put a fixed label of 'x amount of torque' due to drag without defining the speed, the pressure... And at any speed above a couple meters a second, the drag on the given picture would cause a lot more than 400Nm of torque. Thats gonna be torque due to misaligned thrust vector, like it should be. -

[1.10.0] Final Frontier - kerbal individual merits 1.10.0-3485
blu3wolf replied to Nereid's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Jebediah Kerman just completed his first mission of my current career save. Things went very well for the flight. On review of the post mission ribbons and awards, it was noted that Jebediah Kerman had been awarded the Dangerous EVA ribbon. Whilst exact details of the mission are still classified, I can confirm his only EVA was after splashdown - which, whilst still potentially dangerous, it is felt that the ribbon's award is not warranted in this case. A meeting of the KSPA board moved to revoke the award of the ribbon, and at this time the ribbon has been revoked. This leaves only the concerns about the potential of a repeat circumstance - which, I trust will be assuaged by efforts following this bug report. -
[1.0.x] HoloDeck - Sandboxed Flight Simulations
blu3wolf replied to enneract's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
It cant be added to CKAN until the github release is marked as a full release, and not a pre-release. It also needs the netkan file written, but until there is a full release of this, that cant be added anyway. -

Its already on CKAN. The version on CKAN says its only compatible with KSP 0.25 though, so if you have 1.0 installed, CKAN wont show it to you.

[1.0.2] LV-N Heat Adjustment Module (29-4-15)
blu3wolf replied to Randazzo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Its not an NTR, though. Sure it says it is, but it runs on LF instead of hydrogen, and it requires the LF to run at all - unlike an NTR. Your complaint it seems is with the engine and not the heat model. -
[1.0.2] LV-N Heat Adjustment Module (29-4-15)
blu3wolf replied to Randazzo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Thats basically foolproof. -
If you change the name of the file in your dropbox to be (for instance) 'flagpackcurrentversion' and overwrite that file when you update, then CKAN would be able to get the current version of the mod (as the download location wouldnt change). Alternatively if you are able to host the flag pack on github, CKAN can autodetect when you make an update and change the download location accordingly. Yesterday I made a request to add the flag pack to CKAN with its current fixed version as the target. If you put the pack on github then another request could be made to auto update it. https://github.com/KSP-CKAN/CKAN-meta/pull/399
