  1. henryrasia, that experiment, excellent idea! So Mazon Del, it'd really help if you could do that. Also, when you said "10 seconds per frame" were you saying that the camera can only take a photo every ten seconds?
  2. Sorry if this has already been answered before, but how much power will the cameras consume?
  3. I honestly don't think we need a subforum right now, though, things may get a bit more hectic and stuff as we approach the December 31 working design deadline, so we may need one shortly.
  4. elfnet, please read everything from page 123 and onwards. That will get you up do date on our progress.
  5. I really don't think we should use a Raspberry Pi as the CPU, can't we just modify the Raspberry Pi camera module to work with a CPU designed for CubeSats?
  6. Also, K^2 and henryrasia, maybe we should set up a Chatzy chat room, so we can have a sort of Skype meeting. (Without needing to create a Skype account, getting and setting up a webcam, etc.) Maybe we can have a "Chatzy meeting" every once in a while, if everyone is able to be there at the same time. I could set one up, it's easy. Link to Chatzy
  7. Hmm... I think we should go with the two camera solution, but that really depends on the reliability of the lid mechanism, and how much those solutions will cost. Also, anyone here with any Solidworks experience? And K^2, could you put this logo Lunniy Korabl made in the first post?
  8. It's right to get into details here, to answer your question MBobrik. and henryrasia, nice declaration of goals! Also, I say we name it KerbSat, though I think we should have a poll for that. Also, I think someone earlier mentioned that we should make a 3D virtual model of it, with some program which I don't remember the name of. We should really do that, does anyone having any 3D modelling experience here? EDIT: Something like this: EDIT 2: Found the name of the 3D modelling program, Solidworks.
  9. Well, that sucks. We'll probably be ready to go to the next one, assuming it's next year in December 2015. Or maybe there will be one earlier near where another one of us lives.
  10. Please fix the download. Please. I need to try this, the stock Kerbol System is getting boring for me. Please.
  11. Also, K^2, how's the sim going? And henryrasia, how are your plans on going to the 1st Latin American IAA CubeSat Workshop?
  12. Let me sum up what our CubeSat will do: The CubeSat will be a 1U (Perfect 10 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm cube), and it will be in two sections: The top section will have a pressurized area, it will have moss and some sensors to monitor that moss, the CubetSat will spin to create artificial sub-gravity (Like 0.16 G, or 0.38 G), and monitor how the moss reacts and grows in this new environment. The bottom section will have everything else, the MPU, CPU, communications, etc.
  13. Unfortunately I can't really help on this because I'm doing stuff for the KSP Community CubeSat, but things like this just make me happy. It makes me happy because we're being ambitious. And awesome. First we have the KSP Community CubeSat, and now a movie. Wow. Thank you KSP community, thanks for being awesomely ambitious. Thank you. Yeah... Sorry for the unnecessary motivational speech/thing. But still, this is cool.
  14. K^2, do you have even a vague idea on how much power our CubeSat will consume? Also, could you put the logo Lunniy Korabl made in the first post K^2? (The image is right below)
  15. Should we also have a regular color camera too, there could be a small light which would be on for a fraction of a second maybe while the camera takes the picture. Just a thought, maybe we can only fit 1 camera. (Though we could have the camera be able to switch between infrared and regular color, though I don't know if we can find one that can do that that will fit)
  16. Also, how many ground stations will we need to be able to get short enough connection time intervals in the 3 weeks that it will be orbiting?
  17. LEDs? I thought we were going to have it be pitch black inside the pressurized area, and see what's going on using night vision. (And we would use something else to substitute photosynthesis for the plants)
  18. Cubli? That is only useful for moving around on the surface of a planet, so no. We're sticking with the magnetotorquers
  19. Still, I don't think that we need that much money to just build the CubeSat.
  20. Wait, WHAT!?!?! How the heck do you end up using $150,000 to make 1 little CubeSat?!? I mean like, ArduSat asked for $35,000, and SkyCube's goal was $82,500. So I have no idea how they ended up using $150,000, beats me.
  21. Do we have to use the new avatar? I'm pretty happy with the one I already have.
  22. You read ALL 158 pages?!? Now THAT'S some serious dedication! Anyway, welcome Treldon! Also, K^2, remember to add the logo/patch Lunniy Korabl made on the previous page to the first post you made.
  23. Good to have you back astropapi1! Also, a diagram of our CubeSat design would help, especially for the visual thinkers here. (Including me!)
  24. Half-assed? I disagree, since the Soyuz has been flying since 1968, and it's still flying almost perfectly, with some updates of course. And the R-7 too, it was the first rocket to ever reach orbit, and with some upgrades and updates. (IE: The 3rd stage, updated systems, etc.) So yeah, I don't see what you mean by "Half-assed" and "Never got good updates".
  25. Sorry if I haven't been paying much attention to spaceflight news, but why are they launching the Angara A5 to a GTO flight now, even though the only other test flight was a suborbital one of the Angara 1.2? Shouldn't they do a LEO test flight of the Angara A3 first? (The Angara A3 is like the Angara A5 except with only 2 boosters, not 4)
