  1. I don't think we are ready to send a letter/Email/notification/whatever to a space agency yet, we don't even have a full blueprint/design yet! I mean come on people, we have 46.5 days until the end of 2014, we gotta move it people! We won't get any where NEAR space if we continue at this sluggish pace of 5 or so posts a day, so we gotta speed that up, say 15 posts a day at minimum.
  2. Thanks henryrasia. Also, how long did it take you to make one of those planet banners you made?
  3. Uh, henryrasia, what exactly did you ask Rareden? (You can copy and paste the PM here) And cool Lunniy Korabl, nice work!
  4. Hmm... do you know any other talented artists on the KSP forums?
  5. Well, eventually we will land a CubeSat on Phobos.
  6. Hmm... okay then, though I really don't see how it's not feasibly possible to do that in a 10 cm isolated cube floating 418 km above Earth, but hey, I'm not a biologist. So chances are, you're right.
  7. So not just 0.16 and 0.38 G, great idea! So I guess the area for each of the Moss's will shrink, because if the whole dish started growing at once, through the mission we'd be changing how much gravity it would have, not so as you can imagine, it will get us lots of data about how Moss reacts when suddenly put into another gravity, not what we really want. So, we have maybe, 6 or 8 Moss compartments/areas in the dish, and the first compartment/area starts growing when it first starts spinning at one gravity (I don't mean 1G). After about 2.625-3.5 days (That's assuming if we have 3 weeks, divided by 6, 7 and 8, so that's why it is a "X-Y" thing) we change to another gravity and make the next compartment/area start to grow, and that cycle for 6-8 times until we've done all the compartments/areas. Also, Mazon Del, after one Moss compartment/area is done growing and we switch to another gravity and compartment/area, should we kill the original moss (Maybe it will interfere with the next Moss?), or see how it reacts when it is in this new gravity after being in the previous one?
  8. This Rareden: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/25231-Rareden-s-Projects And you say that the Lunar Gravity would be risky, K^2? (I'm presuming that's what you meant when you said "Maybe Moon's gravity if you are feeling risky") All the previous talk about this people had (Including you, I think) said that 0.16G/Lunar Gravity would be just fine, but Mars Gravity/0.38G would be a bit more difficult. (Though I think Mars Gravity will be just fine)
  9. Here's a question to ask: Would the CubeSat be stable enough if it was spinning at the rate it would need for Mars gravity? And I think someone should ask Rareden to make us some stuff, mission patch, something to put in our signatures, etc.
  10. I agree, this definitely isn't something to take lightly.
  11. K^2, could you put : "NEXT DEADLINE: BY THE END OF 2014 HAVE A NEAR-FINAL DESIGN THAT WOULD ACTUALLY WORK" in the first post? And our shopping list will have to depend on how much money the KickStarter will get us, and that is something I really don't know. Maybe $80,000 US dollars or so, but ArduSat pledged for just $35,000, and they ended up getting $106,330, and managed to launch 2 CubeSats! (And are currently making a 3rd, I think)
  12. Bumped, again! Anyway, nice probe, von Ziegendorf! And good luck with your mission to the Moon with FAR, Overfloater!
  13. Would atmospheric stabilization systems (For the moss) be considered a component of the experiment? Or a new system?
  14. Atmospheric sensor? I think it needs to be able to detect air pressure, temperature, humidity and the exact composition of the air (Like how much oxygen, CO2 and other things) I THINK that's all we need it to detect.
  15. Hope you get your PC soon, and thanks for the status update. And 1st Latin American IAA CubeSat Workshop? Fantastic, and it's before the end of 2014 working design deadline! Brilliant!
  16. Just download it, edit it, and upload it back: Also, deljr15, thought these CubeSat diagrams of ArduSat I found might be useful:
  17. A digital artist? (I think that's the term) I'm not good at drawing, but there are definitely some people on the forums who are! Maybe perhaps Felsmak? He draws planets, but I suppose he'd make some fine stuff for us.
  18. Hmm... It doesn't look like you've forgotten anything, good.
  19. Here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jR2B_M67cITTBtV_PDMoioVQp3bnCTR85ecQeVKmpWI/edit
  20. I think we can determine if we will have deployable solar panels or not is to know how much power our CubeSat will consume.
  21. By concept you mean like what I put "Design/Concept that would actually work"? Also, K^2, can you put "NEXT DEADLINE: End of 2014, have a design/blueprint that would actually work and have the sim be done" in the first post?
  22. Deadlines? Okay, here's an idea: (Feel free to criticize it and change it, I'm not that good with setting deadlines) Early-Mid November: Have a basic concept on the CubeSat. Mid December: Have the sim be done. Start of 2015: Start actually engineering and designing the CubeSat. March 2015: Have a design/blueprint that would actually work. April-May 2015: Start talks/discussion with a space agency to send the thing to space. Mid June: Start the Kickstarter. Mid July 2015: Kickstarter finished, and assuming we got the money, start building parts of it to test. (Like put on a balloon) October 2015: Tests done, start building the CubeSat. November 2015: Start setting up communications systems around the world, we can ask people on Reddit and the KSP Forums to do that, I think someone mentioned something like that above. End of 2015: Have the CubeSat be done and tested, then we wait until the launch provider will put it on a rocket. Whenever the LV provider says so: Have it done and able to launch.
  23. Endersmens, how's that website going? And yes, I'm hyped up too about this henryrasia!
  24. K^2, welcome back! Anyway, when are you going to update the first post, and how's the sim going?
