  1. but, I guess we will figure that out after we actually figure out who we're taking a ride with.
  2. if so, the question is how inclined will the orbit be? the more inclined it is, the more pictures we can take.
  3. Are we going to put the satellite on an inclined orbit so that we can see more of the earth?
  4. whoa. PS, to post the .craft file, put it onto a site like dropbox or mediafire, then post the link here. PPS, rep for u
  5. *sigh* whatever you say Nicholander...
  6. We're using a 1U satellite? How the heck are we gonna fit the experiment, and all of the equipment? With a 1U, we don't have halves. we have an area for the electronics, and nowhere else. If you think that a plant experiment with moss can go into a 1U, plus needing everything to keep it alive for a reasonable amount of time...
  7. hoooooooly! reeeeeepppp fooooorrrr yooooouuuuuu!
  8. All these SSTOs, WOW. rep for you you deserve it. PS, not many people get rep on their first post out of the welcome forums.
  9. Sooooo, have we figured out whether we're gonna be using a 2U or 3U?
  10. Here I have my wonderful crafts that are guaranteed to be amazing, daredevil, and nice-looking. Now let's get to it. Crafts: The Altair The Altair (also called Gelios or Luch) is a series Russian communications satellites. Download: http://www./download/3ioz6ktoccx8qgb/Altair.craft Auram's corvette I Just decided to make a capitol ship, it has a cargo bay underneath. So here it is: download: http://www./view/7cjkqijcmfn6i8j/Skysporter_Corvette.craft sorry for the one picture, it just gets really laggy on my computer The Supermarine Spitfire The Supermarine Spitfire was a British fighter plane that fought in WWII download: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mwl1psqucx3mfd9/Supermarine%20spitfire.craft?dl=0 Note: Be careful with the turning, the craft can be very unstable and stalls all the time.
  11. Uh, you might have wanted to go through some of the posts where we said we'll put it on a decaying orbit.
  12. oh, and k^2? if we do get a free ride from NASA, are we gonna get the cubesat up to the ISS and deploy the cubesat there? if we will, how will we get it away from the station? should we change the size of our orbit? If we're just gonna detach it from the rocket, then how are we gonna do that? We haven't really talked about what where we're gonna deploy it from.
  13. wait, wait, wait. We don't know that we can't get a free ride from NASA yet. Don't go too far with it.
  14. The Phobos dream has become a possibility!
  15. maybe we could have 1 cubesat orbiting phobos with the plant in it, and another landing on phobos.
  16. oh, and BTW, we already have a cubesat part in KSP. The cubic satellite part
  17. with 12 mil, the Phobos mission with a 2 or 3U isn't that far off!
  18. uh, I'd rather stay out of that sort of stuff. I'm the helpful criticiser
  19. Once the plant dies, it's going to start decomposing and the absence of gravity isn't going to help the situation. we'll have to have it pretty well sealed
  20. but we will need to provide enough Co2 for the moss to survive.
  21. how are we gonna protect it from radiation and expose it to the sun?
  22. No, I didn't mean launching it by ourselves, that would be impossible, but we need to see if we can hitch a free ride before we pay anything for launching the cubesat. Even if we can't hitch a free ride, we can't go 'yep, NASA', we have to look at different companies for the cheapest prices. *yawn* going to bed now, 11 o'clock here.
