I did a little quick testing. This can be done with a ModuleManager patch, but I need to figure out the detection logic and write the script. I tested it by directly editing the Mk1 Command pod like so... //MODULE //{ // name = ModuleAnimateGeneric // animationName = Mk1Lights // defaultActionGroup = Light // actionGUIName = Toggle Lights // startEventGUIName = Lights On // endEventGUIName = Lights Off //} MODULE { name = ModuleLight lightName = spotlight useAnimationDim = true lightBrightenSpeed = 2.5 lightDimSpeed = 2.5 resourceAmount = 0.04 animationName = Mk1Lights useResources = true } Give me a little bit and I'll figure out the module filter. I just copied those values from the light parts and it seems to work ok. Though I have no idea how much power they should actually consume.

It's Been Over A Quarter Of A Year
Alshain replied to Jeremiah's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
@rudi1291 Except the OP of the other thread started off wrong from the beginning, complaining of perceptions of PC users getting more than the console users. This thread is probably better suited to actually discuss the issues. I'm not sure if this is covered under the topic, but my question is, what happened to the Wii U version? Is there still going to be a Wii U version? Are they planning on doing a Switch version and if so, will that mean there won't be a Wii U version? -

Alshain replied to Jeremiah's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Really? You know EVERYONE personally? People tend to not come here unless they have a problem, so how would you possibly know everyone on console has issues? The devnotes are agnostic, the features they develop just get to the PC first because that is the primary build. That doesn't make the devnotes PC only, it makes them platform agnostic. -
Option for "Classic" Part Sorting
Alshain replied to ZooNamedGames's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Your muscle memory can be retrained. Like I said you will grow accustomed to it after a while and all will be fine. By the time they added an option to choose to hide categories (which isn't a likely thing to happen btw) you will already be at a point where you no longer want it. -
Option for "Classic" Part Sorting

@ZooNamedGames You will adjust to this one too. It takes less effort to find what you are looking for after all. Instead of searching forever to find a part in the aero and utilities section, now you can find it rather quickly. -

Or, they could do nothing and in a few months you will wonder how you ever put up with it the way it was before. I understand you are going to keep looking for things in the wrong places for a while, but if you just use it you will get accustomed to it without even realizing it. -
Tylo isn't green. It said we can dress up as a planet, and I feel like all the sitting behind the computer has made me as big as one.

Cut scenes in career mode
Alshain replied to Matah's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Exactly like those, I'd love for those to go away too, but at least they don't happen as often or for as long as these cutscenes would. -

Of course there is potential for bugs in every bit of code, but that doesn't mean the code they are doing is going to be limited to the PC. The code that flying tiger is doing will however be limited to the console. The code they have been working on for 1.2 is for consoles and PCs. So, once again, the devnotes have been mostly platform agnostic, not PC only. There are a few areas that are of course PC only (like if they do anything with the control configurations) but mostly the development has been for both. Correct, Flying Tiger does the porting, Squad themselves have put a whole lot of emphasis into the game versions that will be ported to the console though. So they are still working on the console version. Good, you should already understand how this works then. There was an inordinately large number of players who were not so lucky. There is always going to be one or two players who have a hardware configuration that doesn't play nice with the software in the PC world, but 1.1 the number was a lot bigger. Not everyone had the problem, but it was a big enough group of us to consider the game to be in very bad condition and therefore unplayable. Just because some players could play it, doesn't make it playable. It just means you are lucky. -

That's not true, Squad devs have been very involved in 1.2, which is the core version that will be used by both PC and console. Flying tiger just does the wrappers to make it function with the appropriate hardware. Squad still develops the game. It's hard to explain to non-programmers, but trust me, all the work they did on 1.2 will go into the console version. -
It's a game not a simulator. They didn't want it to be like FAR. This was done on purpose.

Cut scenes in career mode
Alshain replied to Matah's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
This has been requested before, and my response will be the same... This would be incredibly annoying. We don't need stuff added to the game that would just force us to click through it to get rid of it as fast as possible each time we play. -
Your screenshot disagrees with your description Cd*S is 94.014 m^2 so using your approximation Cd is 4.

How hard is docking
Alshain replied to Maxmaster084's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
The biggest things to consider are 1. Experience. It's going to take you several attempts to get the system down no matter who you are. Until you get a practiced hand you are going to spend time and monoprop docking. 2. Mass distribution. It's generally easier to dock with the port on the front because the craft are cylindrical that way. Docking something where the RCS jets aren't symmetrical is harder (like a plane) 3. Illumination. It's simply easier to dock when it isn't dark. -

Alshain replied to Jeremiah's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I understand that, and as I said before, that is unacceptable. But what I was trying to explain is that they aren't ignoring you in favor of the PC version, most of the bug fixes will come in 1.2 and that is what the devnotes were about, that is for both PC and console. The crashes and freezes were present in the PC version too. That means they had to fix it in the core code. The only bug the console has that is unique (that I am aware of) is the save issue. In your original post you made it sound like PC users were getting everything and console users were not getting anything, but that isn't the case. 1.2 will come to you too but they had to finish it, and since the console version is the port, they have to fix it on the original first so they can port it again. With the exception of a few wrappers to make it work with your hardware, the game you are playing is the same as ours. The save bug is presumably in the wrapper and that's why it is unique to the console. -

Oh yeah, sure. But there really weren't many bugs in 1.0, maybe a few small ones. 1.1 screwed it up. So I don't see how that really makes a difference though. -

Alshain replied to Jeremiah's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
That's not true because we bought the game with the understanding that once 1.0 came out we would have a full retail version. We had no reason to complain when it was in early access but it's not in early access anymore so it's changed. It doesn't matter when we bought it, we still deserve the functional full retail version we were promised when we bought it. If anything we actually deserve it more because we went through all the trouble of helping them develop it for years while it was in early access by way of testing and making suggestions. But despite that I would still consider everyone equal whether you bought it in EA or Release. -

It occurs to me given the popularity of the game and the fact it was also an indie title, that some people may thing of this like Minecraft. Rest assured it is not. Minecraft is a different game on each platform it is developed for. They aren't even programmed in the same languages. The PC, XBox, Apple iOS, etc. versions are not the same game at all. KSP is not, it is the exact same game on every platform it is developed for and it is all derived from the PC version. Most fixes are platform agnostic (except for the save issue which is in fact platform specific) so if you want those agnostic bug fixes in the derivative, they have to come to the superior first. -
You don't have to wait for them to align, just add more fuel and go anyway. Satellites are small (low mass), so they don't need a lot to get there in any case. I wait for transfer windows when sending large payloads and manned missions, not satellites.

Alshain replied to Jeremiah's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Incorrect. The DevNotes were mostly about 1.2. Both the PC version and the console version of 1.2. What they read here was mostly about 1.2, which they will be getting. The specifics of 1.2 will come to the console version. They just incorrectly perceived it as being a PC topic when it wasn't. In fact the topic was both console and PC. Please do not claim I said things I did not. -

Alshain replied to Jeremiah's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
They can gripe all they want about the game being broken. They just can't gripe about the PC version getting 'more attention' as if they are somehow the red headed step child. Aside from the fact it isn't true, all this PC development will be ported to the consoles soon enough and they will reap the benefits of it... so it isn't PC development at all, it's core game development. The issue is they don't seem to understand that it has to get done on PC so that it can be ported to the console. Now that the PC version of 1.2 is done, they can begin moving it to the console version. That is in fact the nature of a game port. Console players just aren't accustomed to being the ported version, usually the PC is the ported version. -

@SpannerMonkey(smce) I get that, if it's early access then you expect it to be incomplete. However if you bought it in early access and the game gets released, your license is transferred and it's no longer early access. If you buy it in early access it is with the expectation that it is buggy now but will not be once released. You don't buy it with the expectation that it will be forever buggy. For all intents and purposes, nobody has an early access license for KSP anymore. Everyone who bought it now has the full retail version and it should work, whether on PC or console, regardless of when you bought it or at what price. But what I'm saying is in 1.1, it was not working, neither on PC or console. So up until a few weeks ago we were all in the same scenario. We all have a full retail released license for our respective platforms and our game wasn't working. -

The UK needs to re-examine it's policies then. If two people pay good money for a game but only one counts as a customer because they bought it a little later for a little higher price, that's just insanity. Fortunately I live in a country where all customers are customers, so I have every equal right to complain that a product doesn't work regardless of when I bought it or how frugal I am.
