KSP2 Release Notes

It's a game with very realistic aspects. It's not a simulator at all. Games have realistic aspects in order to make them believable to the general public. It's no different than Call of Duty have realistic combat, that doesn't make CoD a simulator. Though believable to most of the public, a true expert can easily dissect a games realistic aspects. Ideally, a well designed simulator would either not be able find fault with the simulation OR it could be defined as a technical limitation/impossible to simulate within reasonable cost. KSP fits into that first category of a game only. You spend most of your time outside the rocket and it takes mods to make cockpit flight even somewhat usable... it's just not a simulator, period. FWIW, most of the games that have "Simulator" in their name these days are not simulators. A quick search on Steam for the word "Simulator" produces MS Flight Sim, Euro/American Truck Sim, and a bunch of games that are not simulators. I'm currently playing one called Farming Simulator 2017.... it's not a simulator (but it is kinda fun if you like that sorta thing).

Ultimate Explanation: KSP is not a simulator. It never has been and never will be. The devs have never claimed it to be and Harvester himself explicitly stated it was a game, not a simulator.

Getting More KSP Stock parts
Alshain replied to Sgt Doomball's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Weapons will never happen. This isn't a war game. -
It's not possible to make a universal plugin that makes all other plugins compatible. The closest thing to this is a Library with an API, which do exist in the modding community (The Firespitter plugin is an example of a Library with an API). Assuming the Library continues to be developed, often the plugins that utilize it do not need further updating. In the case of an Library it works the other way around, the plugin has to be built to use the API in the first place.

Parachute Staging Toggle

They moved it to Advanced Tweakables, which is stupid, but at least it isn't gone. -
Based on what we have seen, only 2 joycons work on one console, but you can link several consoles.
-
Second hand market. People got bored with the thing very fast and almost immediately started dumping them. Sure, I'm confident it will get cheaper and cheaper until it becomes a collectors item and then gets more and more expensive. It just depends on how long you want to wait. I'm not getting rid of mine, I think it is a great console, and I have several games (mostly Zelda titles) that I like to play again and again.
-
Too late, that happened about a year after it was released. That is what happens when you release a console and then don't bother releasing any games to play on it for a year.
-
I made that reply 3 months ago when we didn't have that information. Since then I've decided this console is best left on the store shelf. Nothing about it seems like a good idea. Especially 3 little words... Paid Online Services.
-
Someone else mentioned that as well. I have no idea why that would be, my suggestion is to not use 7-zip.
-
Well that's fine for them, but I'm not voting for it in a category that I think demeans the game.
-
So you agree with me then? You basically are just arguing my point but making it sound like you are disagreeing. It's all about image. If you cast the game with the likes of Broforce, it demeans the actual educational value of the game and everyone views it as that game with all the explosions. We all love this game and don't want to see it with that kind of image. It's a wonderful game for learning about how real space travel works, it's not about the explosions.
-
Scott does space games, that is exactly my point.
-
You sure about that? Danny2462: 150k subscribers - shows massive destruction Scott Manley: 550k subscribers - shows space travel
-
I was thinking KTNE, sure it's not visual explosions, but the tense moments leading up to it, and the game is all about explosions.
-
Those problems are inherent in space travel. That is why they are in KSP. But it's not about the explosions, it's about the noble challenge of space travel. I will be doing my part in this vote to ensure KSP does not get associated that way any more than it does already. That means voting against it I'm afraid. I wish it were in another category.
-
Ugh, stupid category. There are at least 3 other categories that would be a better fit for KSP. I'm refuse to vote to make KSP the winner of the "Exploshuns r kool." category, it's demeaning to this game. The game is about space travel, not gratuitous pyrotechnics. It should be nominated for the The “Just 5 More Minutes” Award or the The “I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award” Award.

You mean learning all about space travel means you have no life? I disagree.

1. Given question 2, I take this to mean "Is it intuitive?". Yes, for Rocket Science this is very intuitive and easy to learn how to play. 2. Yes, the game is very hard, but failure in this case is part of the fun. 3. No clue. 4. That is a modded part ship, not exceptionally hard to build with the B9 mod. The main thing you need to know is that this isn't Airplanes in space. If you want that, go get Star Citizen or Elite: Dangerous. This is real world rocketry. It behaves just like anything from NASA, ESA, or Roscosmos would within a certain degree of realism. You aren't going to be dog fighting in space, you won't point straight at a moon to get there and fire the engines. You have to learn realistic orbital mechanics. The B9 mod tends to make the game look more like SciFi style ships, but that really isn't the case at all. Real spacecraft do not fly like Star Wars fighters in space and they don't in KSP either.

We absolutely need native VR support!
Alshain replied to jrandom's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I was always saying that. You are making stuff up. I compared sales numbers of two gaming consoles. You brought in airplanes! You chose to ignore what I was saying and insert your own twisted interpretation. No, it is not profitable to game developers. It is profitable to it's creator. You seem to have a lack of understanding of market share Video games and video game consoles are actually in two completely different markets. The vive is effectively a console, though it is a bit unique compared to others it still is a console, a device needed to play certain games. Video games are their own market entirely. So while the device may be profitable to HTC, that doesn't mean implementing it will automatically be profitable to Squad. For one thing, the markup on the device itself can make it profitable at low sales, and that thing is hugely expensive so has got to be a ton of markup. But the markup doesn't help game developers, only the device manufacturer Good! Because this isn't manufacturing, it's economics. -

You are comparing commercial planes to video game equipment. If you don't see the problem there, then you are beyond understanding of the world. There seems to be something you're missing with the concept of reality. If you don't want discussion, don't visit a discussion forum. You are just as much a waste of my time. Good luck in your imaginary play life, it is going to be pretty bitter when you don't get everything you want just because you like it and think it should be.
