[1.1.2][1-1-2] May 13-2016 EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements
Behemoth1702 replied to rbray89's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Apparently I am unable to dissect mod from mod here and therefore unable to properly install this. I tried and KSP locked itself up during loading a few times. Could you guys help me? "All I want" is city lights and clouds for kerbin, that's it. Duna sandstorms are a plus but not needed at all. I just want Kerbin to be prettier. -
[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18

Thank you for your answer! I've done some testing and it's a bit different from what you describe above. But that is because I used a canard at the FRONT of the plane, haha, so it went the other way around! Positive values increased the AoA, negative ones tried to decrease it. Thank you for your explanations! Might want to add them to the FAR wiki or a readme or something. I have to figure out now how to use this to improve hypersonic flight. Thanks everybody! I am really anjoying FAR right now with spaceplanes. Now - onto rockets! Haha.- 14,073 replies

[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18

Thank you for your helpful reply! I can kind of understand why I was unstable now. I decreased span without reducing wing area and VOILLA, perfect stats! http://i.imgur.com/oBYoOIo.jpg Thank you very much for your help! But this AoA thing needs some more brain matter from me to understand. I will have to do some tests to fully understand this, lol. So as you say when an UNDEFLECTED control surface with %AoA set to 100 gets into 5° area of attack, it will ADD deflection so you end up with 10° AoA at that control surface? So it sort of amplifies the control? And if set to negative values it will move "into" the flow to reduce AoA? Thank you!- 14,073 replies

Hey guys, thanks for the helpful replies. Unfortunately I am not able to re-create the issue. It seems that a restart fixed SOMETHING. I know for sure that the graphs did not look like that before. Also the craft controlled kind of differently. Mhh. Sorry to have sturred up worries. Everything is fine I suppose. @ferram4: Could you explain a little bit on the %AoA setting on control surfaces? I can not understand them yet. It has something to do with AoA but how exactly my craft benefits from this is beyond me. :-/ As I said I am a newbie at all this advanced aerodynamics stuff. Thanks! EDIT: BTW I really admire the magnificent Firehound, amazingly flying beast! Did you model it after the Su27 series by any chance? EDIT2: I made a screenshot of the "yellow stability graph going up" issue. Any comments on design are welcome, I want to get better at this. http://i.imgur.com/OQ6VGmA.jpg- 14,073 replies

Another thing - I just can not get a plane that has it's yellow stability graph going down when AoA rises. It goes down a bit, then slowly up and stay negative BUT it does not continue to go down, such as with the FAR planes. My CoL is always behind CoM. Am I that bad of a plane designer? Should I add/remove wings? Weight? Control surfaces? :-/ No idea what causes this.- 14,073 replies

Hey guys, I am a newbie at this since I've installed FAR just now. I really enjoy the FAR planes, they greatly show off how the improved aerodynamic calculations make the whole aerodynamic aspect way more realistic! I've read through the wiki on GitHub, but I can not figure out/understand all the different parameters on the control surfaces. I kind of get pitch/roll/yaw, I guess it splits up the input into percentages. The more % you set the more it will deflect. The deflect amount is also clear. But what is %AoA? It seems to do something with angle of attack but I have no idea what it does or how to use it. Can anyone help? Thank you!- 14,073 replies
