Melted chocolate just gets all over the place, and that's no fun, is it?

---BEGIN CTRL - V--- I can't find the "run test" action when I right click on parts I have to test for contracts as there was before. --- END CTRL - V--- I was just posting in general discussion and I was clarifying something to a poster, by quoting the OP.

Excuse me but Science can't wait, I got tests to run !
Norpo replied to deprav's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Huh? He's not talking about science modules, he's talking about contracts. Quote: "I can't find the "run test" action when I right click on parts I have to test for contracts as there was before." Anyways, I haven't played Career mode in a while. But i'm pretty sure some parts have to be tested via staging, and others can be activated through Run Test. (if i'm wrong feel free to correct me) -
"The horrors I've seen up there... The horrors..." "What, did you see aliens or something?" "No, our pilot used an ion engine." "That's not too ba-" "AT QUARTER THROTTLE. On a 100 ton asteroid tug." "The horrors, the horrors..." Ontopic: this is actually pretty nice. Do they get less stupid over time as well?

Tried to get a lot of gee forces without resorting to hacking/cheating. (infiniglide was considered a grey area, though ) I think I did pretty good for my first time. I should turn this into a challenge >.>

Honestly, I think people (particurally regulars) should start trying to rate pretty much every thread that they have an opinion of, right now the rating system appears as though it's only used by trolls and people who don't know about the rep system >.> Then again, trying to get an entire internet community to use a feature is like trying to herd cats. Kerbal Stuff, an open-source Space Port replacement
Norpo replied to SirCmpwn's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Is this the right place for asking questions? Oh well. 2 questions; Is it okay to post crafts on Kerbal Stuff? I've never seen any crafts on there. And: Will there ever be a seperate category for crafts in Kerbal Stuff? I figure that if it IS okay to post crafts there, it'd be a good idea to add a category for crafts. (also, thanks for making this replacement for Curse! I like it vast amounts more.) -
When I did this. By accident.

I reluctantly accept my fate as a potato; in a bag somewhere, to be eaten someday, but not today. Living as a potato isn't a good life, but it's honest living, dangit. I teleport the next poster is in the wilderness somewhere, with only what they have on them at the time of posting. (potato powers are nice.)

Welcome to the forums! Getting to the Mun and Minmus is a great achievement; great job! (And I wish you luck on that Duna mission!)

Nope. mrrpamplemousse.

Title says it all, i'm wondering what the general community opinion is (As I haven't done either). To avoid ambiguity, let's define an Eve return as "land on eve with a kerbal and bring him back to Kerbin" and a Jool-5 as "Land on every moon with a Kerbal and return him to Kerbin" Discuss! EDIT: Dear people of the future using Google to get here. The version this was posted in is 0.25, with 0.90 (beta) on the way. The general consensus among posters has been "eve is hard" and "jool-5 is a bunch of semi-hard tasks into one". That being said, I like red iron crown's post the most, sums up all the other posts nicely. Eve is primarily a design challenge, in that you need to make a lander with a pile of dV and a high TWR. Once that is done, the mission itself is not overly challenging as the transfers are easy ones, the landing is trivial if you use chutes, and the ascent is not overly difficult once you figure out it's best to go straight vertical until 30km or so. Jool-5 is more of a design, planning, and piloting challenge. You must create a mission profile and dV budget, then design your landers and mothership within those constraints. There are more transfers to complete successfully, mess one up and you might not have enough fuel to finish. A Tylo landing is one of the game's big piloting challenges, involving a white-knuckle high-G suicide burn if you do it efficiently. There are just many more opportunities to fail a Jool-5, IMO. That said, both are big accomplishments of which any player should be proud.

That seems about right. Okay, IT'S ASCII WITH SOMETHING ELSE. Now what? There's a second piece to the puzzle. -
According to Bing Translate (yes, it has Klingon, but google translate doesn't), "I do. I speak a little."

I think there's a pattern... 32 being "s", and there being no spaces. proof: when bartekkru quoted gooddog, he changed the quote to change the pattern. Since we have both a plain english version, and the encoded version, in theory we can decrypt it? I might be able to make a quick python program to decode it Edit: Scratch that, i'm lost; "t" is two things? -
Tried to make an eve return lander. Yup, going as planned. Totally. Not blowing up AT ALL.</sarcasm> I'll figure it out eventually, blowing stuff up is half the fun!

I honestly don't care if it breaks save files, my computer can't handle vessels made of more than 250 parts anyways. Not like it'll destroy days of work for me. (planned on starting a new sandbox in .90 anyhow)

7/10 Small-ish animated gif, so it doesn't kill my bandwith. also, the hidden message.

How to show "What you did": Mission Profile Notation
Norpo replied to Thunderous Echo's topic in KSP Fan Works
Yeah, I think appropriately coloured circles with the first 2 letters of the planet/moon name would work fine. That way, even if it does end up monochrome, you can still read the name and figure out what's going on. An alternate, more detailed-ish pack (Give duna simple ice poles, bands for jool, some land for Kerbin, craters for the Mun etc. while still keeping a cartoon-ish extremely simple feel) could be nice, though. -
Yeah, those structural pieces can take a heckuva beating. There *will* be damage, but if you have enough armour, then you don't need to care about a few panels flying off. (now drop it from high orbit around Tylo)
-
I did find a mod that CLAIMS to use little-ram, since it's just cloning all the planets and just assigning new attributes to them, here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/97865 I've never used it, but i've always been planning to. Not as interesting as exploring all new planets to me, but still pretty close.

Transfer engine discussion
Norpo replied to Bigbootie's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
For serious missions, I go with nuclear engines. Top notch ISP, (and i'm normally using a big enough rocket that ion engines would be ridiculous at that point). Serious missions would be, say, a Jool-5 mission. just-for-fun missions, either the Poodle or the Skipper. A duna lander and return would fall in this category. For VERY fun missions, Kerbodyne engine clusters. Many of them. Never getting out of orbit and just watching the explosions would fall into here. (I tried to make a giant fuel depot, 289 parts and I was getting 1 fps a second, I was lucky when it exploded) -
Yeah, I think the official status of it is that they don't have any new planets planned, but that could change after official release/beta. From what I remember, the person who was going to make/planned to help make the second gas giant left, so now that's in stasis and probably isn't going to happen. edit: And as the above post said, there ARE add-ons that add new planets.

Nope. Overfloater.
