  1. The first time you show this to somebody who's only used to the metric system he completely laughs his poophole off: That's because we expect the imperial system to be quite the same, just with a different starting point. We don't expect the relations between the units to be so random. Same thing with paper sizes.
  2. Really? I thought I once flew to the Mün and back with the KerbalX...
  3. For me KSP works completely fine in Windows 10. What was the big problem?
  4. My stock Saturn V, Apollo replica. What I don't like about it, is that the S-IC and the S-II are too fat, some fuel tanks are empty and some engines are throttled back. Also, I've seen much better Apollo Lunar Lander recreations than mine. What I really like about it, is the dropping of the interstage ring, and the sepratrons used for separation. I wonder how far I could get with this beast when fully fueled and all engines fully throttled up.
  5. You don't need to do a plane change. Just do the trans-lunar injection burn at the right time at the ascending or descending node. So when you fly anytime into orbit, the longest time you would've to wait until the trans-lunar injection burn would actually get you to the moon is about half a month. If you're really good and wait for your launch date until the moon is at the right place, then you can do the trans-lunar injection burn in the first orbit. This way you can theoretically fly to the moon even from a polar orbit.
  6. Flew my new Space Shuttle to my Space Station And the framerate was like "Duuuude whaaaaaat?"
  7. This topic is very old, but it's one of the first that comes up when you google "Kerbal Space Program white sun", so I'm sharing here how I did it. 1. Download KSPRC (as I'm posting this the current version of KSPRC is V-0.5) 2. Only copy the folder named KSPRC to your GameData-folder 3. Delete every folder and file in the KSPRC-folder except Assets, Plugins and KSPRC_LensFlare.cfg 4. Profit I hope this helps some random people that stumble over this thread (like me).
  8. Astronomer's Visual Pack V3 - Beta, PlanetShine, Distant Object Enhancement, Engine Lighting, Collision FX, RCS Sounds, Stock Plus (because chutes). Once my new graphic card arrives I will definitely add Scatterer and try out KSPRC instead of Astronomer's Visual Pack.
  9. Just sign up at https://imgur.com/ and upload the pictures you want to show. Then you can pass the url of a picture here.
  10. First time landing my Space Shuttle on the runway.
  11. I have mostly the same rules as Tourist (the creator of this topic). And I have to say before each launch if it's only a test or the real sh*t. When it's a test then I HAVE to revert it. If it's the real sh*t then I am NOT ALLOWED to revert it. Quicksaves are done regularly, but Quickload is only allowed when a bug appears.
  12. Unless cars are the fanciest kraken at that time and only here for the super rich.
  13. God dammit! This of course happens now that I started to learn russian, to understand the videos on Roscosmos Youtube Channel.
  14. Would be cool if it would be determined by the active part. Then you could just change the SOI by clicking Control from here .
  15. If you liked the Martian then you'll probably also like Apollo 13. https://xkcd.com/1536/ It is also very accurate regarding the science.
  16. I think this fits in here: My stock-parts-only Soyuz replica.
  17. But the movie says that the Endurance is at L2. They chose to go from L2 and then aerobrake to save fuel. I'm no physicist, but it would be cool if somebody else here could calculate how big the time dilation would really be. Here's a german article about some things that Interstellar got wrong.
  18. The time dilation wasn't because of speed. It was because of gravity. Miller's planet is so close to the black hole that it almost touches the event horizon. The Endurance is much further away from the black hole, because it waits at the Lagrange Point L2. Look at Watney's skin at the end. And the Endurance in Interstellar is probably so high-tech that it has a magnetic shielding or something like that.
  19. For interplanetary transfer burns with lots of payload I mostly use the Rhino. I don't want to use nukes, because I hate long burntimes. And what I even hate more is multiple burns
  20. I've built a stock-parts-only Soyuz replica. I especially wanted the rocket to sit on the boosters, like the real Soyuz.
  21. There are news about this: http://news.discovery.com/space/alien-life-exoplanets/alien-megastructure-probably-not-exocomets-more-likely-151128.htm
