  1. @kmMango: I haven't heard anything back from @Joco223 yet. Joco223 has finished all the rockets, but he's just finishing the testing. There are no tech limitations (besides everything being "real") as this will be in sandbox mode. If you know KOS, do you think that you could write some scripts for Mad Rocket Scientist's lifters? If not, then could you make some upper stage variants for @legoclone09's lifters? I'm thinking that they should be the same diameter, but maybe with better TWR and less ∆V, etc.
  2. @Felbourn, I bring to your consideration: Kosmos 212 and 213. I know that they were not the first automated docking, but Kosmos 186 and 188 were skipped. Zond 5. It was the first spacecraft to circle the Moon and return to land on Earth. Looks like you are already doing that. Soyuz 2 and 3. A failed mission, but an important first in the Soyuz program.
  3. Hmmmm.... E:O0? Deeman is still for hire. And with the holes in the S.A.V.E's...
  4. @batman78781 Yeah, he punched a conspiracy thoerist who had been calling him a liar and a coward. Then tried to film him in an "ambush." The judge said that Aldrin had been provoked and let him go. Look it up, it just shows that Buzz is a BadS.
  5. Actually, I forgot something. If you checked "Missing Crews Respawn" when you started your game, he (and any other Kerbals you murder ) will come back, just like The Optimist said.
  6. It said in the video description that it was a Reconsat launched by Mitsubishi.
  7. You can't really buy him back. But you can go into the save file and change his status from "dead" (or the equivalent) to "alive" (same). You could also open up the debug menu and fiddle around there. Or you could sit in the corner and cry. Then send his ashes into space.
  8. So, I was Googling rocket trajectories for the Real Space Program, and I found some Youtube videos of a rocket launch. It's put up by a Youtuber who doesn't believe that rockets don't work in space, the earth is flat, there's a "Firmament" stopping rockets from working, etc. The comments section makes it pretty funny, especially if you look at his other videos. Now: what would you say to these types of people if you met them in person? How would you react? Would you try to explain this to them, or punch them, like Buzz Aldrin?
  9. I asked in the RO thread about circularizing after apogee. You might be able to save on ∆V that way.
  10. So, I'm having some trouble figuring out an ideal launch trajectory. I know that it says to not worry about circularizing after Apogee, but I keep falling into the atmosphere. Is it worth saving the ∆V to do this, vs. my frustration? How do I solve this?
  11. @Mad Rocket Scientist Ok, just tell me which lifters have which mods installed beyond the base RO install. @legoclone09 Sometimes I think that FASA has some help. The J-2 and H-1 are powering my GeoCommSat lifter.
  12. Isn't it? That's why I like using RSS- there's more of a challenge for me now. I think that we will be flying ascents manually, but if someone knows how to write a KOS script that would also work. Last time we didn't have anyone who knew how to do that. Also, it might make things a little easier if you figured out how to circularize after apogee. I haven't figured that out yet, but I think it would make my rockets smaller. Lastly, don't be afraid to widen the core stages+booster, if you need to. I hate having a limited choice of engines, it makes things annoying.
  13. Hello again, @CaptainApollo! I do remember you, and it's good to have you back. A lot has changed since school started, but I think you'll get used to it fairly quickly. I used to be mortally opposed to the concept of "likes," and refused to call them anything but +Rep, but the terms are kinda interchangeable to me now.
  14. No, I don't think so. I mean, if you have enough fuel to do a dogleg, that's fine, but you just need to get it into a 27-29 degree orbit. The payload should be able to take care of the rest.
  15. i think that we'll be doing most of our launching from the KSC, so don't worry about launching from Baikonur.
  16. @legoclone09 If you need to, you can stretch the tanks, add SRBs, etc. Or start with the 30, and downsize.
  17. @Mad Rocket Scientist Staging is flexible, but should probably stay roughly the same number of stages for all 4 designs. I was thinking that all 4 designs would have some similarity to them, like a rocket family- see the Delta II, III, and IV families. All of the IV's are kind of similar and work from the same basic design, but have their own peculiarities, just like the II's, etc. Oh, and staging doesn't include clamps, ullage, etc.
  18. Ok, so it seems like we have a lot of rocketry engineers. I want to put this to a good use now. @ZooNamedGames Since I'm Booster Control Officer, I think that I can use a team to keep watch/help design various rockets. @Joco223, can you design: a 2 stage, 1 tonne to LEO a 2 stage, 3 tonne to LEO a 2 stage, 5 tonne to LEO a 2 stage, 10 tonne to LEO @legoclone09, can you design: 2 stage, 15 tonne to LEO 2 stage, 20 tonne to LEO 2 stage, 25 tonne to LEO 2 stage, 30 tonne to LEO @Mad Rocket Scientist, can you make: 3 stage, 40 tonne to LEO 3 stage, 50 tonne to LEO 3 stage, 75 tonne to LEO 3 stage, 100 tonne to LEO Let's say that LEO is ~180 by 180 km. Constraints: You should only use mods that are compatible with the latest install of RO. FASA and Soviet Engines are allowed. If you have another engine pack, tell me in a PM.
  19. @ZaPPPa Uh... why are all the people named Kerman? How to work with RemoteTech? How to calculate which booster to use for a specific payload, and the fuel load in them? How to test rockets without using the "Simulation" mode? How you design planes.
  20. Hi, @BloodDusk! I think you did a good job on this intro. Need moar boostar, though. The video is good, too, nice job!
  21. It would need ~200 kN of thrust to maintain a ~10 m/s^2 acceleration. If I understand your question correctly, you want it to have 10 tons of fuel to draw from. It would need ridiculous Isp to maintain 1G acceleration for the entire Duna trip, and I can't do that math. I feel like the length of time you would be firing it would require calculus to solve.
  22. I would add a picture... but my avatar works fine, too. It's a picture of the my dog's breed. Looks just like him, when he was a puppy!
