Free to play with microtransactions for cosmetics. However, don\'t get too excited just yet. They\'re either in closed, NDA\'d tech tests or closed, NDA\'d beta right now.

I\'d have to say that if I can expect a cost/hour played to be more than 1 USD/hr, I probably won\'t play it. For example, I got TF2 when it was still $20, and I\'ve gotten 132.2 hours out of gameplay from it as of this post. I got Just Cause 2 when it was $50, and I\'ve gotten 92.5 hours out of that so far. I\'m not sure how many hours I\'ve gotten out of KSP; if I haven\'t already, I know I will play enough to drop it below that. The problem a lot of big-budget ($50 or $60) titles have is the fact that in order for me to even consider buying them at full price, I\'d have to expect to get at least 50-60 hours of gameplay. That\'s ton, especially if it\'s a game that is purely a 6-8 hour story with no multiplayer or replayability.

I\'ll second the LNP, mostly because it\'s a pain to figure out what things are without a graphics pack, and managing a couple hundred dwarves with the in-game UI is waaaay more difficult than using Dwarf Therapist.

Considering that Bill, Jeb, and Bob always seem to bring bad luck to my rockets (since .14, every rocket they get into has a catastrophic failure) and that I don\'t do custom names for my Kerbals, it likely will be some randomly named Kerbal.

[v0.17] Damned Aerospace Version 1.5.3 + Crewtank

Please see the stickied thread at the top of the board. -
I don\'t really have a favorite, but that\'s because there\'s very few shows on TV that I feel are even worth watching. -Eureka; it\'s a good show, and sadly in its last season -Warehouse 13; another good show, but not back in season for another month -Doctor Who; who doesn\'t love this show? -Top Gear; the original (British) one, not any of the bad spin-offs

[STOP PRESS] Ballmer could have actually DONE SOMETHING WELL!
Katalliaan replied to thorfinn's topic in The Lounge
I could have sworn that Microsoft announced that they don\'t want people to be able to make a replacement for the start menu. While it may do well as a tablet OS, it probably will suffer as a desktop OS. -
How could we provide more of a challenge to KSP?
Katalliaan replied to Tortoise of The Cosmos's topic in KSP1 Discussion
There\'s also the fact that the game is far from done. I\'d suggest waiting until campaign mode is added before talking about difficulty, since currently the only difficulty available to us is in designing and piloting our crafts. -
For launches: Can\'t go wrong with Tom Lehrer.

White Owl's video series discussion thread
Katalliaan replied to White Owl's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Kamiei: the .crafts from the first season won\'t work with the official aircraft parts, since their internal name (what the .craft files reference) is different between the C7 pack and the official aircraft parts. You might be able to get away with editing the .craft file - replace the mod parts (anything that starts with 'c7_', IIRC) with the official parts in that, and it might work. -
I haven\'t fully killed any of my computers yet, but I have burned out two or three power supplies because I underestimated the demand the rest of the parts were putting on them.

It depends on the purpose of the mission. If there is a reason to leave it, I do so (marker, satellite, out of fuel, etc). Otherwise, I try to return it to Kerbin.

Sense of directions issues, and some suggestions
Katalliaan replied to haltux's topic in KSP1 Discussion
If you are pointed towards/away from the body you are orbiting, you are pointing anti-radial/radial; I\'m not sure of the use for that in orbital burns, though. If you are pointed parallel to the body you are orbiting, but at a right angle to your orbit, you are pointing either normal or anti-normal; it\'s used to change your orbital plane. If you are pointing along your trajectory or opposite it, you are pointing prograde/retrograde; burning in those directions raises or lowers (depending on which way you are pointing) the point in your orbit opposite of you. -
I use Xchat, although that\'s mainly because it works on both my gaming machine and the Linux box I use when I\'m away from home. There\'s not much innovation you can do with IRC, so there\'s really no reason to insist on a client that was started recently over one that\'s been around (and stable) since, say, 98.

Ideas for experiments while in orbit?
Katalliaan replied to VincentMcConnell's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yes, although IIRC it\'s easier to do with radians than it is with degrees. -
[0.19] Multiversal Mechatronics - Fixed Camera - 1.3
Katalliaan replied to r4m0n's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Did you put a camera somewhere on your craft or use one of the .cfg edits provided for the spaceplane cockpits? Without either, the plugin won\'t be active as the only valid camera is the default one. -
Just performed a manual water landing in a spaceplane with no engine
Katalliaan replied to Wigw2's topic in KSP1 Discussion
As George Carlin once said: That being said, I\'ve never had much success with water landings unless there\'s enough parachutes or engine power to slow down the descent. I\'d rather take my chances in finding a flat-enough patch of land than try to imitate Sullenberger. -
Just wish he had it set up as a show, since none of his other series really interest me.

[v0.17] Damned Aerospace Version 1.5.3 + Crewtank
Katalliaan replied to DYJ's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Sweet. -
Charzy, by mixing antivirus software, you\'re doing yourself more harm then good, as they can conflict with each other and give false negatives. You\'re better off with just one antivirus program (ie drop MacAfee and keep Avast).
-
It has parts that may have 'docking' in their name or descriptions, but they are just struts and don\'t actually do anything.
-
Great collection of failures. Well-timed to the music (hard to go wrong with Kevin MacLeod!), although I doubt anything can compare to the near-save made in 'Rocket Science is HARD'.

[v0.17] Damned Aerospace Version 1.5.3 + Crewtank
Katalliaan replied to DYJ's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The extension is .7z, which is an archive created by 7-Zip that is supposed to be better than .zip. Googling that in combination with Mac shows a handful of programs that can open it. -
Why would you do such a thing? While I play MC, I stay far from the official forums - the more users there are on a forum, the more immature people and trolls there are, and there\'s no way that even good moderators can handle the MCF.
