Would it be hard to implement some simple over-the-net setup lobby (with chat)? I'd be thinking a single server that pools active player servers into a list you can choose from, and just redirects a client player. The player server can then just handle the clients on its own, easing the load on the main server. Plus of course a VoIP channel for communication. I know it would kinda destroy the feeling of having a Star Trek bridge with designated stations in your room, but it would allow a lot more people to connect and play, even if they cannot get enough RL friends to play this (none of my friends are massive fans of the sci-fi genre, unfortunately. Or just space in general.) It would also allow the captain to shout "CLEAR THE COMMS" (It's okay if you don't want to go in that direction, maybe I should just find new friends ) Anyway, great project! I'll be definitely keeping up with this one

I read your previous post, as most likely did the OP. I don't agree though. Sure, it will add development and testing costs, but we are talking sugar rockets here. There's no need for "explosive bolts" or "flight computers". Right off the bat I can think of at least one cheap mechanism that will passively separate the stages when the first burns out and the second starts producing thrust. Please excuse the crude 2 minute MSpaint drawing, it's just to illustrate a concept. The "sticks" (couldn't figure out a better name) are supposed to go all around the rocket, I'm thinking 8 of them. Probably good to lubricate them for easy separation. Applicable to side boosters as well. Second stage gets ignited by a fuse running from the first stage, like (youtube link). How much would this cost? Probably a few $ and a few tests to get the fuse timing right. As for the balloon, care to elaborate?

Is Superposition your answer?

WHAT! The game of my dreams?! I'M THROWING MONEY AT THE SCREEN BUT NOTHING IS HAPPENING Ehm. So, it's like a lovechild of FTL and Guns of Icarus? I'm loving it. So damn much. Downloading right now. In the meantime, a few (probably dumb) questions: As for the enemies, I'm guessing it's mainly AI. Can player ships battle each other? If so, are you planning on making official tournaments, battlegrounds or something similar? Would it be (in theory) possible to play this by myself (insane mode )? Or is it just too much to handle? I might have a problem getting minions friends to play this with me :/ Is it playable over the internet, or just local network? If the former, is there a lobby to gather random people? Also, I'm digging the ship designs. Beautiful.

Get the sign to a class E asteroid, point it directly at Kerbin and call it... "Hypageddon". (sorry, I know, I'm leaving right now )

You mean I can fall asleep on it? Meh, I got my bed for sleeping. Push the button to gain $5000, but lose a friend.

I wouldn't be surprised if they just released a totally random image and laughed their bottoms off while the community "Illuminati confirmed"-s every little detail

My usual checklist would be something like: Forget that the current version even exists Try hard not to think about the new release, because you have important work to do Think about the release anyway Spend all day on the KSP forum instead of working Daydream about all the awesome designs that will be possible after the new release Remember all the important work that you had to do and panic Pull a few all-nighters to catch up with work Get superhyped when the game gets finally released Ignore sleep deficit and play the new release until you pass out Wonder why KSP always gets released when you have the most work to do Sacrifice the souls of the innocent to SQUAD anyway for making such an awesome game Unless it gets released before I finish my work... Then I'm screwed.

So... when you leave the satellite alone, stable (warp to 5x to stabilize and then go back to 1x), without any warping and without any input, your orbital parameters change constantly for no apparent reason? It could also be that you have some unbalanced differential forces in your vessel - like a Kraken drive, but weaker. In addition to perfectly circular orbits, this could lead to some pretty bizarre behaviour.

Removing default space background
Deutherius replied to Mesons's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
The only way to turn an orbit invisible is to disable the craft itself through its class (you can do that at the top of the screen in map mode or tracking station). No idea if you can disable the whole UI, though. -
Could it be that you are trying to get the orbits perfectly circular (eccentricity as close to 0 as possible)? Because KSP doesn't like that very much, the orbit will constantly flip Ap and Pe around, and every rotation of the craft will induce changes to orbital period - the longer the orbital period, the more this will change it. If so, try adding some eccentricity to your orbits (make them a little elliptical) - they are much more stable, and as others pointed out, you can keep the required orbital period the same just as easy, if not easier.

Proper Fairings ASAP
Deutherius replied to GusTurbo's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
The analogies in this thread are priceless I agree that the 2 part fairing shells look better, more epic, and most of all more sensible. But I wouldn't expect another movement to blossom in the same way as it did for the ROUND-8. I just hope that the fairings won't add too much to the part count. -

I... am awestruck. This is going to be so damn good. -
Anything can fly if you put a big enough engine on it. Nothing is restricting you from making ridiculous things fly, you just gotta figure out a way how.

Why would I trust graffiti? It's vandalism, not truth. Besides, the Cube told the cake is real, so my opinion is settled. The user below me is legally allowed to drink alcohol, but chooses not to.

The stock parts that you never ever ever use/hate.
Deutherius replied to ron1n1's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Someone here has said that it has one special "placing" node that you have to use to place the part - if you do, the other nodes stay, if you don't, they disappear. Still, way too troublesome for the player to figure out which node is the right one every time he wants to use the part. -
SpaceX after they land their first stage?
Deutherius replied to bigdad84's topic in Science & Spaceflight
It can. The Merlin 1D engine has a throttle from 70 - 100 %. It's too powerful to hover, even on a single engine, but it can be throttled. -
