  1. In addition to checking the CoL/CoM, could you try running a FAR simulation at different altitudes and velocities? That might tell you why it's flipping out at hypersonic speeds.

  3. Like, everyone not coming, ******* yourselves. Suckers. azrarht
  4. Or maybe some verniers in the upper part of the first stage to help with the torque (assuming they could be powerful enough to overcome the forces)? Or both?
  5. My guess is both. Lets just hope they won't try to refurbish the N1-L3 for this purpose
  6. The job of the person in charge of the landing (jk, jk, I don't want anyone losing their job over this)
  7. Is there a launch site that would allow this, with a meaningful goal orbit and safety margins along the way? The first stage goes pretty far from what I've seen.
  8. That's data. They can consistently hit it, just need to go a little slower next time
  9. Maybe a little dumb question, but does anyone know what exactly are the 4 towers around the launchpad for?
  10. This reminded me of one Vsauce video: The relevant part starts at ~7 minutes, but I find the whole thing interesting.

  15. I know, I've been there when you made this I meant work as an SSTO, but for some reason deleted that from the post. Derp. Also, for this challenge it'd need a capsule, which would put a huge dent in the performance of that sweet plane EDIT: Yep. Getting the Ion Isp nerfed in atmo would suck.
  16. You do realize that quantum computers are only faster than standard ones when used for specialized parallel computing, right? Also, thanks for nothing, uncle Scrooge. How very charitable of you The next poster gets ALL the money!
  17. Wouldn't it be easier to just use the giant fans as propellers for a lifter plane? Bear in mind, gentlemen, that rockets are not the only methods of propulsion in KSP. Ion gliders might just work after 1.0 is released.
  18. My only problem with the Not-Rockomax micro thingy is that it usually doesn't work - most of the time all the nodes just disappear after placing, making it useless. I would see some uses for it if it worked consistently. Apart from that... I believe that I have used all of the stock parts at least a few times, be it for looks or function. And I harbour no hard feelings to any of them.
  19. It's not very clear from your post which Lagrange point you are trying to simulate. I think you're trying to simulate L4/L5, which should be possible (well... they won't be automatically stable like the real ones would, you'd have to get the trajectory absolutely perfect for it to work - but you probably know that), but it should be stated somewhere in your post. "Just outside SOI" is pretty general and might get interpreted like you are trying to simulate L1 or L2, which will, of course, never work in a 2-body system. As for the reason why it does work with the Mun but doesn't work with Kerbin... No idea. It most definitely should.
