This is not from today but from the last time I played. I've been experimenting with shuttles. Disregard the unsynced audio, I was also testing the Windows 10 video capture thingy.
-
Only manual flying here, no MechJeberino.
-
I, uhhh... I killed Valentina in a bizarre timewarp accident. I rescued Samantha Kerman from orbit though, she's my new Valentina now.
-
In my current save I have contracts for temperature scans and flag planting on the Mun, but I never had the "Explore the Mun" contract. Go figure.

Are the Kerbals you resuce from orbit ever not an engineer?
Janos1986 replied to LordCurlyton's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I rescued a pilot once, he's been the first kerbal on the mun in my last save. Too bad he crashed on reentry due to a timewarp issue. RIP in pepperoni. -
I am doing some thing wrong
Janos1986 replied to Dh397's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Open the chutes at about 250-260m/s and you should be fine. -
Yesterday Jeb was considering other career paths. This is KSP I swear, it's a mod.
-
That isn't an exploit, it is the true unsaid goal for space travel in general, on Kerbal and Earth alike. It's a typical trait of the human nature. "Get to another planet and MINE IT. MINE UNTIL THERE'S NOTHING LEFT. Then sell the resources for profit and move to the next one."

Getting large stock wheels to steer?
Janos1986 replied to Harvesarmy's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
No, the wheels are made to steer like a tank. On the bright side, you can turn around on the spot. -
EVA camera rotates, how to turn it off
Janos1986 replied to johnnyhandsome's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Can't you just choose the Chase cam for the EVA? -
Well, surface sampling/eva report missions usually give you locations a few kilometers apart, so a rover helps you with that. You could also go by foot or with RCS, but in places like Duna that would be pretty difficult/time consuming.
-
For fun, basically. It's useless per se.
-
As it is, reentry heat is a joke.

Excess drag in Duna's upper atmosphere
Janos1986 replied to ftunk70's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Maybe the fact that Duna's gravity is lower than Kerbin's means that the gases are more evenly distributed in the atmosphere...? Dunno, I'm a plump neckbeard, not a physicist. -
Personality traits
Janos1986 replied to DarkGravity's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
They are purely cosmetic. I personally choose them if they have an interesting/funny name or by profession. -
I'd go for solar panels, so you can rack up money from satellite contracts more easily, like using the same one to complete 2 or more, just accept all the contracts right away and then launch the ship. Just yesterday I got 3 contracts at once (2 equatorial orbits on kerbin and one polar orbit on the Mun) with the same probe. Easy money.

Career Mode, Planes Only
Janos1986 replied to Old_Gaming_Geezer's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Yeah but you'll need a ton of fuel to get in orbit and do other stuff. At some point you'l just get a horizontal rocket and I'm missing the point of doing that instead of just building a rocket or a shuttle. -
Career Mode, Planes Only
Janos1986 replied to Old_Gaming_Geezer's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
There's not enough science on Kerbin to do that, Ramjets are way up in the tech tree and I think they're nerfed now with the new atmo (just speculation, I haven't unlocket them yet). And forget the RAPIERs. -

I drop my first stage, usually consisting of boosters alone, at about 8-9km from launch, then I switch to the second stage which is usually an LVT45 until I get suborbital.
-
Since we are talking about TWR on the launchpad, in atmosphere of course. My 2nd stages usually have 1.4-1.5 while the 3rd stage for circularizing in low kerbin orbit a TWR of 1 is just fine. At least for me.
