  1. An error keeps popping up in the Debug Menu and it's stopping me from docking, and I think it has something to do with FAR because this is what it says in the output log:

NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object at FlightGlobals.get_ActiveVessel () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

    at ferram4.FARControlSys.OnDestroy () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

    What's causing it?

  2. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to cross-post from the thread I made to here or not, but I need help. D:

I landed a drill on the surface on Minmus where there is definitely ore to mine, but for some reason the Karbonite drill, which is the drill I've used to mine ore loads of times before, isn't working for some reason.

    OSB1LsN.png

I have the option to drill Karbonite, but not ore. I know it works because I've done it before in the past.

I made a thing out of all of the drill parts I have (other than the oceanic ones) and only the auger gives me the option to mine for ore.

Why did it suddenly stop working? D: Is there a way I can fix it?

  3. (The only relevant mods I have are Karbonite, ScanSAT, and EPL, nothing else should touch the Regolith stuff)

  4. If you're sticking two Claws together, that could be the issue... but if you're really just docking two ships, that shouldn't happen. The fact that your game is modded may very well be an issue.

That's true. It also happened once when I was using KAS pipes to load one of my resource-transferring rovers with Karbonite, though when I reloaded the save and tried it again, it worked.

I guess the relevant mods I have installed are Kerbal Attachment System and Karbonite for that one-off bug I just mentioned, and for the more persistent bug that I explained in the OP, would be the USI Kolonization mod since I was using their docking ports and tube things.

...I still have this funny feeling it isn't because of my mods though, since both of my bugs as well as Danny's example all have one thing in common, and it has to do with attaching things together. I'll try to replicate the effect with a vanilla install later.

  5. (I have a modded game but I don't think it matters since this also happens in the stock game)

I've been working on an extravagant Minmus base for a few days now, shipping new pieces from Kerbin and attaching them to the main part of the base by scooting them along Minmus's surface using RCS and into the docking ports, but sometimes I keep getting that Glitch Device effect. You know the one, right? Danny did a video on it, the one where you attach a Kerbal to two claws and then the surface disappears from underneath you and anything in the planetoid's SOI falls to its invisible core and explodes. That keeps happening, but it happens when I'm sticking my base together for some reason.

What exactly triggers this bug? I'd like to know so I can think of some workaround way of building my base so I can avoid that bug. I hope it gets fixed in 1.0!

  6. Disable AA in KSP.

    Which Linux ?

Did you install the proprietary nvidia driver (not nouveau) ? Then you should have an nvidia-settings icon in the settings. Open it, look for the antialiasing settings (am on the wrong computer right now and can't check out but can do later if you wish ...)

    K

Yup, I got the proprietary drivers and changed the NVidia settings. Disabling AA in KSP worked though :D Thanks!

Though another issue I have is that it's really laggy. The FPS is pretty bad. I don't have this issue at all in Windows and it makes it almost unplayable.

I've gone back to playing KSP on Windows now, as I'd rather have the occasion memory leak that crashes the game rather than a game that's constantly laggy. If there's a fix for this I'll go back to Linux (Ubuntu) though.

  7. I recently made the move to Linux and I've been trying to get anti-alias working, but...it won't work! I've tried editing the settings in KSP, I've tried tinkering with my driver settings (NVidia) but nothing works.

The option to toggle edge highlighting is disabled too, saying I don't have the hardware? It was working earlier, though, so I have no clue why it's suddenly not working.

  8. Super! :D

    Thank you! :D

    Here's something new (Kraken attack!):

    kraken_attack_by_y0rshee-d8o1pe9.png

This one is cel-shaded, it's practice for a faster art style since I plan on making a comic and the soft shading takes too long. That didn't stop this from taking forever. :P I think it would have taken a lot longer if I shaded it differently, though.

The spaceship is based on a really simple space station I made a while ago, with some orange tanks attached to the back of it. I had to change the look of the cockpit so you can see the Kerbals properly.

  9. It looks beautiful! Great work!

(And KSP featured your illustrations in their Facebook page, if you didn't know :))

That's awesome! I saw the Eve picture on the Twitter a few days ago, I had no idea my newer picture was on the Facebook too! :D I don't know who runs the social media pages but whoever they are I want to personally thank them.
  10. Do you have deviantart?

I used to, many years ago. I don't anymore, though.

I have a Tumblr but it's just a personal Tumblr, and so it's messy and unorganised and not very suitable for showing my artwork on.

I could make a web page somewhere to put all of my recent artwork on though! I think that would be a good idea. Once it's up and running I'll probably put it in my forum's profile.

  11. Hello, perhaps with the full log file, the error will be more clear ;) you can read this How To Get Support ;)

I ended up trying to quicksave (the debug menu made it look like it was at least doing something), and then reloaded the save. It must have corrupted or something because it loaded my previous quicksave which isn't surprising when you look at the screenshot below which is what the debug menu was showing while it was apparently quicksaving:

    TI45lUk.png

I ended up closing down the game and restarting it again so I'm not too sure if the output log will still be helpful.

  12. I flew all the way out to Minmus in one go, and once I got there I realised none of my buttons are working.

My staging was working on the way there, but once I landed and tried to switch to one of my other ships, I realised it wasn't working, so I tried going back to the Space Centre to switch from there, and that wouldn't work either. Then I exited map mode and my stages weren't there. My resources and stuff won't show up either.

    Here's what it looks like:

    twRR5iV.jpg

As you can see, I still have two more decouplers and some fuel tanks on my ship so these things should be showing up on the left, but it isn't.

All of the toolbars from my mods work, as Flight Engineer and KAC are open, and I can close and re-open them again. If I click Resources, they won't show up.

This flight is also manned, but the Kerbal's facecam is gone from the bottom-right corner too. If I click on the crew hatch, it'll show his name but won't give me the option to EVA.

All of the buttons on the pause menu work, I can edit my settings from the pause menu and stuff. I'm assuming Revert Flight works too but I don't want to click it since, well, it'll revert my flight. F5 shows no quicksave note on the side, but for all I know it could be quicksaving without telling me. I don't want to reload my last quicksave since it was before this flight.

Is there a way I can fix this without quitting the game?

EDIT: This has happened in the Debug menu, dunno if it really means anything:

    6sylQu5.png

I assume this would have started happening just the IVA facecam disappeared, but it started glitching a bit before that.

  13. About that base, which is fairly cool btw. If you plan to actually build anything there with Extraplanetary Launchpads you should make sure you have all of the parts on either landing gear or wheels. This is because as you mine ore and produce rocket parts your base's center of mass will change and cause parts to rotate slightly. KAS joints will carry this rotation over into the workshop and the garden and cause them to clip into the ground. You won't see this unless you time warp. When you break warp or come back to the base after a while the parts that clipped into the ground will rebound upward, either destroying themselves (most likely) or causing your entire base to flip out of control. The base is usually destroyed when this happens. The effect is magnified as the diameter of your base increases.

Having parts on landing gear or wheels allows the gear's suspension to act as a buffer to this rotation, preventing the rebound. Landing gear (note the legs, not the wheel gear) has more wiggle room than wheels when it comes to this.

I've been experiencing this already D: Fortunately it hasn't gotten so bad that it's tearing itself apart, but it does fly up into the air for a few seconds.

Would re-attaching the pipes fix it? If it won't, then I'm now delivering the actual launchpad itself so I could just make myself some landing legs and attach them to everything.

  14. llnkSJ9.png

I got a lot of my self-sustaining Mun base set up today! I had to turn off terrain scatter to take this photo since the lander's leg goes through a rock and it looks weird. One of the rovers broke on the 10km travel to the ore mining probes and back. I managed to get it back to the base - it's that mangle of scrap metal in between the workshop and the furnace.

Once it's all set up I'm going to set up a launchpad there, to make going interplanetary easier so I don't have to waste so much delta-v just getting into Kerbin orbit.
