10 Tylo landings in 1 launch no refueling or mining
otblock replied to JacobJHC's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
That's a landing per sub, dear lord! Incredible work, comrade! -

Nice. I've been looking at most of your posts, and this one is exceptional! Keep up the good work! -
Eve Luxury Floatation Aerostat Habitat

This sounds insane. I figure it should be possible, if you give the balloon enough time, and with decent balancing. I hope a new submission comes up. Please. -
Nice. My current science turned sandbox is my current project, but this seems uber useful for career. How did you get around good ol' ice friction wheels?

Multi job title kerbals
otblock replied to Buzz light fear's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
That would be realistic, sure, but a balancing nightmare. You theoretically could run a base with a single scientist/engineer, running the lab and boosting mining as well. Also, it removes the complexity of interplanetary missions. Hard choice between pilot and engineer for a small manned mission to Duna? Who cares? Have a fusion! The point is, it would be easy to run complex missions that would take crews of two at the least with one kerbal, lightening your payload and possible life support. -
I am currently working on a Duna base, and wish to have some sort of rover assembly, and my current design isn't making the cut. It flips out when I try to drive it. Is there a solid, reliable design for a majority of celestial bodies?

SSTO Interplanetary Spaceship?
otblock replied to RenegadeRad's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Just take a good long look at any of Rune's SSTAs, and you have the concept. The Javelin is a good example, and quite a few crafts in the back pages of the SSTO showcase will do this, easy. -
Do perfectly good designs not work the next day?
otblock replied to Brainlord Mesomorph's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yes. I had a functioning (decently, no masterwork) space shuttle capable of hauling a Big Red to orbit. I change it slightly to have those neat double docking ports, both normal and senior, and now it looses control. -
There was a guy who made an SSTO that went to the Mun, mined there, and profited. It all depends on what you think is cheaty.

otblock replied to quasarrgames's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Brilliant. The spin is good enough alone, but an SSTO! With refueling, this would be wicked on another planet. -
Next time, there are other methods. I believe proper use of thrust limits and fuel cells could do the trick. Or, you could use nukes. Either works, but nukes carry more.
