"Empty all tanks" slider
Hcube replied to Wjolcz's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
+1 I would like that too. Also i'd like a way to dump fuel while in flight ! Maybe not for rockets, but atleast for spaceplanes and jets... -
Anyone else having problems with 'warp to next manuver'?
Hcube replied to Xellas's topic in KSP1 Discussion
This. It's crazy annoying. You can't click anything while using the auto warping ! Also, i had this problem where the autowarp didnt stop when i hit escape ! it stopped by itself seconds (or days, because it was x10000) later -
What do SpaceX actually plan to do if they get to Mars
Hcube replied to xenomorph555's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Thinking about that might be a bit soon since SpaceX are just starting to perform commercial LEO launches, have never sent any astronaut in space, and have only the F9 as a rocket... -

do you think that they would have cut the mic for swearing, just like in Soyuz T-10a ?
-
That's very interesting ! Thanks for sharing.

We could use an arbitrary "drag unit" that would be just used to compare different parachutes. It would simply let you know that x chute has y times the drag for this other one etc... I guess a reference velocity wouldn't be very useful, because parachutes are used to slow you down... therefore your velocity changes a lot while you pop them. Knowing a chute's performance at a precise speed wouldnt serve much of a purpose since you would only pass through that speed during a few instants. (i dont know much about aerodynamics, so i could be making a mistake here)

See height of part in SPH/VAB
Hcube replied to Rockyfelle185's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Engineers report gives you the total height of your ship ! -
Why is the trunk also "evacuated" by the launch escape system ? From the flight plan pictures i have seen the trunk doesnt even have a parachute. Is it not dead weight ? Why not only escape the capsule ? Also, anyone knows why there are fins on the trunk ? What is the reason for those since F9 has no bottom fins? Wont it just shift the center of pressure forwards and create some instability ? Thanks

Very often with dual-satellite launches. See ariane 5 for example : it pretty much never launches single satellites, but regularly some medium sized satellites, 2 in 1 launch. And sometimes you do see really huge satellites like terrestar1 or so... The fact that only few payloads are 10+ tons is precisely due to the limitations of the launchers... If (should i say "when" ? ) launchers big enough to launch 40t payloads in orbit were(will be?) common, you would(will?) see loads of those around.

Apart from the SRBs that were nerfed to oblivion, i like the engine rebalancing ! The T30 is the new king of early-mid career for me ! Also, (is it just me) I feel like the Mainsail is crazy amazing now, even better than before.
-
No offense but... no wonder you got no response. Even though you have great ideas you are way too agressive in your post. Just look at the discussion between you and Roverdude. Your message has some very good points wich i completely agree with, but too many "I think" "it should be so" "this is wrong" etc. But yeah i would like a .625m strap-on SRB much like the GEMs. It would be possible to recreate very realistic Atlas V designs with those. I personnaly used the flea only once. It just uses memory if you ask me. The fact that it was added in the game knowing that it would be used only for the first launch is what makes this SRB almost pointless to almost every player.

Yeah i would love a difficulty slider for satellite contracts. And wait, i think that you totally can switch vessels from map view ! just click the other vessel and hit "switch to" ! Why did you say that you need to go back to KSC and mission control ?

Warp To Next Maneuver Node Improvements
Hcube replied to Caelib's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
amazing ideas ! I also had this where i did a "warp here" , got automaticaaly brought there at, say x100 warp, then it displayed "Timewarp complete" , but left me with the x100 timewarp on. This is very very annoying because i hadn't quicksaved and i missed my rendez vous. Anyone else got this ? -
Agreed, the fairings are very meh right now. I'm sure they will get fixed, but meanwhile ill probably install PF, because i feel bad for detonating a Kessler bomb every time i launch a probe. Also, interstage fairings, much like saturn V's single-part one (the black and white striped one between 1st and 2nd stages)
-
I would just not try it... There is no reason to fire a kerbal, and if there's a risk that it might break the game, then.... just keep the kerbals x)
-
I do have unlocked solar panels and batteries, along with 2 different probe cores and the first 2 antennas. I even have 0.625m parts such as decouplers, adapters, etc. And yet no satellite contracts. I only seem to get rescue or tourists contracts (the latter being even more dull than satellites ones if you ask me). I play almost stock ; i only have Chatterer installed.

3-man command pod texture detail
Hcube replied to martinborgen's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Well, there are traces of flames around them: the sides are burnt. How is that not a retrorocket or RCS vent then ? -
Well, you always have the 2-seats Mk2 landing can ... Or just use the 3-seats Mk1-2 capsule, it has three but it looks very good. By the way, Soyuz is a 3-men capsule, not 2.

Making a Shuttle- Aligning COM/COT
Hcube replied to Zucal's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
(The picture links are not working on my mobile so im gonna say general stuff) If they are properly aligned, there is no reason for the craft to flip over at launch. At first just use the CoT and CoM in the VAB to have them roughly aligned, launch it, see the way it flips, change SLIGHTLY the orientation of the engines and repeat until it flies right ! That's pretty much the only way you build a shuttle. The real problem is : even if it launches right, it has to stay so at SRB separation, and this is very hard IMO. Tip : If it is somehow stable but you need more control, spam Vernor engines (the LFO RCS ports) on the top of the external tank, and on the bottom of the shuttle. Tip 2 : the further away the engines are from the center of mass, the more efficient the gimbal will be. Hope this helps EDIT : Seeing how the SRBs were thrashed in 1.0 and drag augmented in 1.0.2, good luck building a Mk3 shuttle that can get to orbit ! The huge SRBs now burnout pretty damn fast -
Thanks for the answers, the pod did totally fine ! I too agree that heatshields are pretty useless. I never felt that i needed one : every time i had one it barely ablated...
-
Are they gone ? I have unlocked probes, been to Mun and Minmus, i have unlocked antennas, upgraded research lab etc... And no satellite contracts...
-
Thank you, gonna try it tomorrow
