  1. in stock its a pain, however if you have Kerbal attachment system (KIS/KAS) you can have a kerbal attach a pipe from your drilling tanks to your spacecrafts tanks, makes things quite a bit easier, ecpecialy if your building a base and have trouble lining all these docking ports up. theres also struts that can be bolted on by your engineers too to strengthen your base
  2. another nice thung is if your far enough in the tech tree mechjeb can dock for you, another idea is set your primary docking ports to a north south axis
  3. mks/oks by roverdude, theres a docking tube you can run where ever, i use that,kis_kas and mechjeb, engineer too, also roverdudes freght too
  4. hmm, mks/ oks, transport and packrat is what i use, the hydrogen goes in the huge sphere tanks.
  5. that would be interesting, but would need another part I think, a middle piece and hub covering, perhaps one that has extra sas?
  6. hmm, not really unless you got fuel lines to connect from the big tanks to your tiny ones, they hold very little compared to the big ones
  7. if you have trouble getting the docking ports to attach right in the VAB, remember you can hold the mod key( alt for us windows users) to attach node to node also very useful if attaching something in a cluttered area
  8. you cant pay for training, however there is a kerbal academy in the MKS mod by roverdude, which can train your kerbals to two stars in orbit and three landed but not on kerbin ( minmus for me soon ) however they need a teacher of that class thats been trained already to teach new kerbals (quick and dirty to lvl 3 needs a kerbin orbit, mun landing, minmus flag planting and a quick dip out of kerbins SOI.
  9. using mks, and kas/kis for parts, the transfer pipes are lovely since you can then transfer fuel from one craft to another via EVA, currently working a new game up to munar and minmus landings,
  10. burn till your ap is up there at 75km+ then you burn half the time before your node to get to orbit, for example, my last burn for orbit to 80 k needed a burn of 62 seconds, so at 32 I hit Z to kick engines to full power for the burn. my worst was 1200 delta v for circilization
  11. go eva, right click your pod and take data, tben right click your main ship pod and click store data, however you only can keep one of each data per biome per ship
  12. i believe you warped past the opening threshold for the shutes, thats possible, or too much strain on them
  13. when i made my kerpollo flight i built my lander stage then had my transfer stage under it
  14. value is also dependant on what difficulty and options you took, bit 15k kerbicks is base pay
  15. i can see a refinery being plopped down, a base built on several worlds to gather resorces, soon kerbals will be able to colonize the solar system ( plan for me later, tho once 1.0 comes out everything will change since karbonite will switch to stock resorces for the most part
  16. simple pod for the job, one 2 seat command module, one hich hiker module, your docking port and wheels, or you could mmake a craft from plane parts too for a multi seat minmus rover
  17. include juuust enough exess delta v to deorbit, then recover them, tho recently I have taken to having my sats having a docking port built in so they can be relinked into a craft for later reuse, or returned to kerbin with another craft
  18. actualy we have plans for a rail gun to lauch stuff into orbit that would be placed in the ocean at the equator, unfortunately no humans or live creatures ( 100G+ launch would splat the living thing)
  19. for me to get to LKO ( low kerbal orbit) I use 5k delta v, as stated, burn strait up to 10km, then angle to 45 deg, then at about 30 k angle down to about 15 to 10 degrees while you apoapsis is at 50k, then once your orbit is at +75ish km you stop your burn, coast to your desired burn point and burn to orbit for about 1k delta v, ofcorse there are other ways, much much more effective ways, but this works for me.
  20. orbit kerbin, orbit mun, land on minmus and plant a flag, dip out of kerbin SOI and then return to kerbin to get enough exp to go to lvl 3, which is full use for now for engineers and moderate use for pilots and scientists
