Is it true that after you get a 1000 rep that your rep just explodes from there? I've gotten 160 rep from November to now, something that took me way longer when I started here.

No. This game should be a one in a million. I just hope that if they release DLC it isn't going to be like how Paradox Interactive does DLCs.

It's when people complain about my/others uses of mods it's problem. Rarely it happens but it's still a thing, but not a major problem.

We drop below 0 F here about every other year. The coldest I remember is -15. When it's that cold, you can throw a pail of boiling water in the air and it turns into snow.
Poor you. So glad I'll never be more north than I am right now during winter. Hopefully.

The team has grown. Including folks with serious game dev, art, and game design experience (Rob, our new designer, has a particluarly impressive resume). Daily Scrum is packed these days, and the environment, team dynamics, and work-life balance are pretty awesome.
And you still have myself, Trigger, Nightingale, JPLRepo, etc - so we're not exactly short handed on the dev side. Just that most of us are focused on the things you're not seeing (yet) in KSP Weekly.
Also bear in mind that most of the folks that departed after 1.2 were not around for particularly long (Beyond Arsonide, Romfarer, and Mu), given that most were brought on for the massive bugfix surge that was 1.2. So while a lot of talented folks left after a relatively short stint, it's impact (IMO) is a bit exaggerated.
As noted in the OP, a lot of us are incredibly busy on future stuff. i.e. my KSP Weekly notes have been 'Continue work on seekrit stuff' for the past several weeks So yep, stuff is happening. The product overall is pretty stable, so while you are seeing a few fixes here and there, there is also a significant amount of work going on in the background (beyond localization, which you folks are already aware of).
Lastly, I don't blame the less public team members one bit from shying away from the spotlight
Glad to have an actual dev respond and say what is going on. And of course the shy part of the team not saying anything is not a bad thing. Definitely not.

I hate winter. Feeling cold sucks, I do not enjoy living in the same temperatures the people on the Titanic went through in the water.
Christmas, however, will be awesome. I want so many cool things, I hope I get them.
Also, moving to Florida in about 3 weeks, hopefully I will never have to deal with cold ever again, already want to sell my winter coat.
The lowest temperature I have ever experienced is -5 degrees Fahrenheit, never again.

I, in my 1078 hours of KSP, have never built a working SSTO. Ever. Don't be mean to yourself, in this game, nothing is impossible. What I would do is save up money to build your own PC (you can build a great one for the same as an Xbox One or PS4). Also, see what YOU can do, and branch off ideas from that. For example, you can build a rocket to go to Duna, but does it just have to be a rocket?

I personally do not think KSP is at it's highest peak. It's a great game, but I feel like it could be better.
Firstly, @NovaSilisko left the team, and with him, a great easter egg storyline. Why is this a problem? No more complicated easter eggs. The remnants are now scattered across the system with no meaning, except of a distant memory. My opinion on that.
Secondly, it feels like SQUAD just forgot about rocket parts. Planes have gotten loads of new parts recently, while I believe there have been only a few new rocket parts (Vector, Monoprop engine? More I don't know?). Might as well just call it Kerbal Space Plane Program. There is a clear gap with rockets, which has never been fixed.
Also, better career mode? Visual enhancements? Maybe a new planet, that is actually worth the journey? KSP is far from dying, but far from being what I would consider the best game ever.
