Constellation Mission Packs Discussion Thread!
Zucal replied to Mad Rocket Scientist's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I'm doing the video too, but it will take me a lot longer. I've traced the booster issue to the exact parts, and the booster seems to work fine when the clipped part is removed. Removing it makes the boosters look pretty ugly though, so I just have to pray the issue is fixed by then. - - - Updated - - - I debated using the new probe cores for the fuel tanks instead of the drills, but they have a greenish tint to them I don't like. Oh well, still good for Apollo LEMs. The telescope itself will be nice for my Hubble/JWST rebuilds, as will the dish and solar panels. -

Constellation Mission Packs Discussion Thread!

^ What he said. It's a structural girder in all three, but the issue is with the boosters and they have multiple structural girders so I can't narrow down the issue. -
Constellation Mission Packs Discussion Thread!

Damn. I'm going to have to wait till 1.1 to release this, the clipped sudden overheating bug has killed my Ares V, Ares I and Copernicus DTV. They all blow up instantaneously. I'll keep working on them all, but it's a bit of a bummer -

I mean, the majority of people won't be the negative ones, they'll be the ones who want to voice their opinion most. Those overlap a bit, but right now is a particularly rough time in terms of people not liking some of Squad's decisions. At other times it's the exact opposite.

The moderators here are the best in any community I've ever seen. The reason some threads are closed and some aren't is because some are more relevant at a particular time, some develop flamewars that necessitate a closing, some are in the wrong place or posted for the wrong reasons. They deal with things on a case-by-case basis, so it's no wonder that not everything is always consistent. There's a difference between being civil/obeying the community rules, and sucking up to the mods.

[11/26/15 Update] Say Hello to the Light-Green Group!
Zucal replied to Endersmens's topic in Kerbal Network
4 light green bars! Again, skipped 3rd altogether on the main page. -
Conference is live. -First stage flight remained nominal, was not the issue -Pressure readings from second stage indicate that was the problem -Station is fine, but a lot of important equipment lost on this flight. (Spacesuit, IDA, experiments, etc.)

That was terrifying and sad, but also by far the most graceful RUD I have ever seen. I hope they recover quickly from this.

I made a tank replica too!

Cygnus is an unmanned spacecraft built by Orbital Sciences that resupplies the International Space Station under the CRS program, like SpaceX. The Cygnus spacecraft has successfully delivered cargo to the ISS twice, and is due to again this summer. That next flight will be the enhanced version, featuring circular solar cells and an enlarged cargo area. This is my first craft in a while, and I hope you all enjoy it! Craft Info: 270 parts, 32 tons, 130 m/s of dv with more if you leach from the cargo tank. Craft Download: LINK (Mediafire) Thanks for viewing!

Squad has always been hesitant to make the game easier, especially any kind of autopilot feature. They want to toe the line of gameplay over realism in that regard, because much of the charm of the game is the process of failing and reiterating on designs. You can see their point- they don't, and I don't want a game where the entire building process is "That engine and that fuel tank have enough delta-v. We're done here." In real life, so many things can go wrong with a mission. Equipment failures, flipped bits, explosions, decompressions, debris strikes, etc. There's no random part failure in KSP, and likely never will be. That leaves only a few things that can go ever go wrong with a mission- forgetting crucial parts like batteries, forgetting a heat shield for aerobraking, and not having enough juice to get where you want to go. Adding a dv display is handy, but removes yet another failure mode from the game and puts it one step closer to strict realism. I'm fine with that, and I'm sure many people are, but Squad's vision for KSP isn't another Orbiter and we have to respect that.

Definitely. This is everywhere- in any movie with a nuclear power station something always "goes critical" when in reality that's literally how it generates power. The point is that not every movie can be fantasy or a superhero film, so some will have to turn to real-life jobs and opportunities. A lot of the time those are really damn boring, so they liven it up as best they can.
