I'm doing it because I'd rather be judged by my post instead of rep. All my reputation is from posting in the Spacecraft Exchange, and obviously being able to build something decent doesn't make my opinions any more correct or my posts more valuable. So I don't hate the rep system, but I like being able to turn it off personally.

Y'know, what might be a lot better than three classes of Kerbals is a kind of tech/skill tree for each Kerbal. You can spends increasing amounts of funds to allow Kerbals to specialize, or do everything. A completely untrained Kerbal might be like a current 0-star one, but a highly-trained Kerbal could repair solar panels and radiators, etc.That way, a Kerbal has a bit more individuality and value- that along with badges for where they've been would vastly improve that chunk of the game.

I suppose I should start this off by saying that reputation has evolved from an objective "This is a good post" to "I agree with this." You may want people to only give reputation to those who are unceasingly nice and helpful, but reputation is really just a more restricted form of, say, an upvote on Reddit. If someone makes something cool, I'll give them rep. If someone says something helpful, I'll give them rep. But what if they say something snarky and sarcastic? if I find it funny, I'll give them rep. You're asking for reputation to become an objective rating that is handed out according to specific criteria. In a forum with thousands of members, that's not really going to work Now thread ratings, that's something we should talk about getting rid of.

I think you're reading this wrong. Recently the option to hide your rep amount was added, and so MRS started a thread to parody the Light-Green Group one. Just a bit of harmless fun with a forum oddity

The Ares I posted by me a while back has been scrapped in favor of a much more ambitious prototype. I think you will all like it.. In other news, I'm having difficulty with my Orion pad abort tests. The LES tower is super weak, it can't even pull the Orion off of the launchpad complex.

I believe that means he has disabled his reputation display. I can't find it right now, but that's an option in settings.
