totm june 2018 Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread

Hmm, I might try that, I have suspected it might have to do with changing thrust with ISP as well, so I'll try those tomorow if possible. -

I know that, but it's a 70% scale, and while in looks its not as accurate, it's more dimensionally accurate, but it's only one part more. *18.3 meter long IRL, 18.3X.7 is 12.81, longest single cargo bay part is 10 meters. -

Well, the best I've gotten my space shuttle is till just before the SRB separation, that's the point it gets rather uneven. it doesn't flip out either, it gradually pitches down. It only gets worse without the SRBs. Images below show the best i've gotten my craft flying, as well as my attempts to save my kerbals as a ditch effort. Do any shuttle builders have some tips? (Also, yes I'm using real plume for the engine effects ) -

My Space Shuttle for the Galileo/Ulysses and maybe more replicas looks good so far, sadly I have not figured the whole uneven space shuttle thing, and I don't want to install a bunch of SAS... It's really stable under KJR, without Galileo anyway, but it's still problematic to control ;( -

If you mean the mod, no, but I believe my New Horizons probe is some 1.3 Trillion meters away... -

I want to build something like a USS Fletcher or something for a while now, maybe I should fight your U-Boat -
Sorry for the lack of activity and entries, school and especially laptop sharing has taken a toll on the production of this series, and while I'll get one entry ASAP, it might be a few days. I don't really know what to improve on this series as well, though I do have an idea of what I want to do, it's still to be done.

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've built the Galileo probe, but I've given up on a non cheats reentry. I'll have to ignore max temp, the thing overheats the second it hits Jools atmosphere at any given speed! It also has phantom forces... -
My personal favorite is the IVO. Io is the only Galilean moon that probably won't get a flyby with JUICE or Europa Clipper, and with its intense volcanic activity, it seems like a interesting target. (I'm also interested in the potential for a Irregular moon flyby, Pheobe is the only such type of moon we've really had a nice look at). The Venus proposals are exciting, as Nasa has been paying so much attention (and money) towards Mars, and Magellan deorbited in 1994. The mission to Psyche would also be cool, a metallic rich massive asteroid is a type of body we really haven't seen yet. The Kuiper telescope would look for long term Gas Giant changes, look for KBOs, and even more. It's a safer and broader look than IVO or the ELF.

The Supermoon Total Eclipse - Who Watched It?
SaturnianBlue replied to The_Rocketeer's topic in Science & Spaceflight
It was really cloudy around the time the moon was partially eclipsed, but as the eclipse went total, the clouds cleared up, and I got to see it go red, and have it come out the other side. Stayed till 11:30 PM... -

The Galileo spacecraft is almost done, but their are still overheat bugs, and its RCS control is asymmetrical, and its tanks sort of flop around under acceleration. I had a NaN scare with a Payload adapter part whose position had decided to go NaN earlier. I believe with the Probe, the IUS, the shuttle+Tank+Booster, it'll be around 650 parts total... A new record! Anyone have feedback and solutions to my problems? (Besides adding 5 struts as that means 250 KILOGRAMS, and I already have KJR.) I'm working on the entry probe next. -

How far have you gone in Kerbal Space Program?
SaturnianBlue replied to Columbia's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The farthest I've gone is VERY far, with my New Horizons now 2.5X farther than Sigma's Pluron-Khato system, and unlikely to slow much! -

My Galileo is going nicely, I finished the RCS pods and added the bottom skirt, as well as the probe relay antenna. -
