[1.12.x] Parallax - PBR Terrain and Surface Objects [2.0.8]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Cheating to another body will cause that because the terrain quads are not generated properly. Going to another planet legitimately shouldn't cause that Left Alt + 3 will show the collider cubes. Some wheels don't work because: They might not use the correct WheelDeploy orientation (1 = deployed, 0 = retracted) They might not contain the correct part module (ModuleWheelBase) or a module named "WheelCollider" They're modded wheels and therefor use different part modules that I can't target- 3,166 replies

I need to update Beyond Home to support this version of Parallax, and that'll probably come in the coming weeks depending on how much free time I have (my university course starts again soon and that'll take up most of my time)- 3,166 replies

[1.12.x] Parallax - PBR Terrain and Surface Objects [2.0.8]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
So I learnt that the downside of uploading a release at 12pm is that I forgot to actually include the ParallaxCollision.dll file that makes the collisions work. I'm re-uploading the release now, please try again in an hour to download it. Apologies!- 3,166 replies

[1.12.x] Parallax - PBR Terrain and Surface Objects [2.0.8]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Can you try without EVE? I think one of your other mods is causing this, because Parallax is installed correctly and loads fine. You also exceed the minimum requirements- 3,166 replies

[1.9.1 - 1.10.x] Beyond Home 1.5.0 (Supports Parallax)
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The landing legs clipping through the ground is standard behaviour. Parallax (the mod responsible for the ground tessellation and displacement) is not collideable and purely visual. The physical surface is slightly below what you see. It looks like tessellation has been disabled, so this effect is made more noticeable by that. Make sure tessellate = true in the ParallaxGlobal.cfg which can be found in the Parallax/Config folder. Make sure your terrain quality is set to the highest value. It may say "New Text", which is a Kopernicus bug - Simply set the slider to the right-most value. However, that isn't the cause or related to the bug you're getting where you can't use the surface harvester - the physical surface is still there. Have you tried quickloading? I'm not sure what would be causing this- 1,656 replies

[1.12.x] Parallax - PBR Terrain and Surface Objects [2.0.8]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Have you got terrain scatters enabled? (Trees, rocks, grass). If you do, performance will tank because of a Kopernicus bug. Your timer went yellow because this has a high CPU draw. The only fix so far is turning off terrain scatters- 3,166 replies

Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
You don't meet the minimum requirement of Shader Model 5.0 (you have 4.5). You also don't have a dedicated GPU (you're using the integrated graphics in your CPU) and don't meet the minimum GPU requirement for a comfortable framerate- 3,166 replies

[1.9.1 - 1.10.x] Beyond Home 1.5.0 (Supports Parallax)
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
You are correct, except when I separate BH from Parallax, you will still be able to see the improved surfaces if Parallax is installed. This means you can experience the planets without the mod or with the mod instead of being forced to use the mod all the time This is a bug with the collisions, most likely due to Kopernicus, however I will be investigating these for the next update- 1,656 replies

[1.12.x] Parallax - PBR Terrain and Surface Objects [2.0.8]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
This is probably your issue. I recommend moving to 1.9, 1.10 or even 1.11. I'm not sure how you're even able to run it on 1.8.1 since Parallax requires DirectX11- 3,166 replies

Took me a while to notice it. Reduce the value of tessellationEdgeLength in the ParallaxGlobal.cfg in the Parallax folder. Bear in mind this will come at a performance cost- 3,166 replies

[1.12.x] Parallax - PBR Terrain and Surface Objects [2.0.8]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Ah, that's it - terrain detail. Parallax does not cause that bug. That is a known Kopernicus bug that's been around for years, caused by detritus from a planet pack. To fix it, you must delete your settings.cfg and let KSP regenerate a new one This is well known by planet modders and, I believe, RTB on the Kopernicus discord- 3,166 replies

[1.12.x] Parallax - PBR Terrain and Surface Objects [2.0.8]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Changing the stock texture quality has no impact on Parallax Bodies. Changing the terrain quality does have an impact and you must keep it set to the highest otherwise the subdivisions in the terrain are too low Terrain scatters function as normal however Kopernicus has a critical bug that causes them to sap CPU performance. I recommend having them turned off until that is fixed- 3,166 replies

Ah, PlanetShine. Yeah, that's a whole can of worms - I don't think it's Parallax interfering with it, it's just a very laggy mod in general Thanks for the report- 3,166 replies

[1.12.x] Parallax - PBR Terrain and Surface Objects [2.0.8]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
It's above 60 - it's fine! If you're playing on a 60hz monitor you should be playing with Vsync enabled anyway - No reason to go above, it's just extra work for your GPU. It becomes a problem when frames drop below 60 What is your GPU usage when you cap your framerate to 60?- 3,166 replies

I'll look into it for another update, but it will be extremely hard (not sure if it is at all possible) due to tessellation and the new collisions system I'm adding- 3,166 replies
