  1. Terribly underwhelming for what amounts to nothing more than a mediocre parts mod alongside a stand-alone logic GUI contract one-off mission builder... Oh and the obscene failure to check COM of parts... alignment of parts... I mean how hard is it to go through each of ~100 parts in the VAB before going live? It was a year in the making and only took 10 min of playing to see how disconnected Squad has become from reality of what players want. Career, still broken, had hopes that MISSION BUILDER was going to fix that.. Nope. There are 100 free mods that make KSP better for every failure this DLC propagates.. and there are many.
  2. I wonder if the streamers realize in the EULA that TakeTwo is also claiming ownership of all content and income generated by the use of the product? But people like RPCG just say "Its boilerplate..." "Nothing to see here...". We'll see how 'boilerplate' it is when TakeTwo sends him a 'pay-up or cease and desist' letter.
  3. Game not even updating or installing from clean wipe. what?
  4. Title says it all. We have been sold down the river in the pursuit of $. Thanks, Squad. KSP was great. Thank God I will have 1.3.1 and all my mods for eternity. o/ See ya.
  5. Take this however you wish, it is up to you... Back in the day I played one of the first available KSP builds. I bought .90 and have played it ever since, 507 hours to be exact (I know that's nothing compared to some). When you first start a career you have real goals. Launch your first ship, escape the atmo, orbit Kerbin... Ok, you do those and suddenly you are bombarded with a million 'test this part' or 'get a temp here' or 'get so much ore from Mun'. You do those and suddenly it's a repeat of the same 4 or 5 goals, just a different distance or from a different body. Once you get to the Mun the only real challenge (if you want to call it that) is adjusting your ascending/descending node to get to Minmus. Ok, great. Now what. Other planetary bodies? Sure, just add more fuel and a bigger candle... done. Ok so let's do a simple fuel depot that gets resources from Minmus to make it more efficient to get to those outer bodies... done. Now at this point you've won the game in theory. You can go back and start a harder career mode but that is simply overcome by driving around KSC until you can get to Minmus and then the science tree is pretty much done... The game is missing depth. It has so much potential that is just sitting idly by... rotting. There is no story, there are giant worlds of varying sizes with nothing more to do on them than find the handful of Squad monoliths and 'anomalies' such as the arch on the Mun. There is 1 single resource magically available everywhere. The kerbals are alone on their own planet. No other outposts, nations or competition. Contracts need to quit being a grab bag of the same 4 things just with random variables. It becomes mind-numbing very quickly. Reputation isn't even relevant in the game. If you have actually had it effect your game then you are REALLY playing it wrong. So what do we do? IMHO it's time Squad focuses on real content for the game. A long-arcing story that gives you a REAL reason to go to different bodies other than to say "wow, I passed the Eve challenge, yaaaaay!!" Multiple resources available from different bodies or their moons. Different combinations of resources to create multiple tiers of fuels/parts that require REAL mining, production and logistics to acquire new tech and parts and not just click a button on the tech tree. Kerbnet was a GREAT step in this direction, More steps like it are needed to keep myself interested. I watch many of the streamers on Twitch but I just get so bored when I fire KSP up myself and quickly just exit out. I know there are a million mods, some that do a lot for some sort of story line but let's be honest. Most can make the game VERY unstable and many do not play nice with other mods... not to mention the lack of knowledge in one or more fields such as optimization of code or graphics. Not to say that there aren't great mods. There are, absolutely. However, none of them really go all the way on the story idea. Yeah, you can sandbox it and pretend but why start up the game in the first place if you just want to imagine doing things. It's the sense of accomplishment that makes KSP so intriguing along with the science/physics aspect. Bottom line. KSP needs more purpose in the game and a lot less random repetition. p.s. Some sort of camera replay system for launches/landings would be amazing where you can go back and watch your launch.. think of Madden 20XX replay where you can move the camera and zoom in, etc...
  6. From the KSC overview, when you enter a building you get the music as if you are in there but it stays on the KSC overview screen but when moving the mouse around and happen to hover over where an R&D node would be for example it lets you click it even though u cant see what you are clicking.. Is this just me?
  7. Anything USI or Umbra. That is kraken/crash bait.
  8. So one of the only things that might make KSP not so blah anymore is being delayed.. to probably 2017. Does Squad have a project manager? Seems like quite an unorganized bunch. I know a dozen or so Unity devs and they say what Squad is doing can be done in weeks with competent devs. But hey, at least we'll have more in-depth blah contracts that still won't be logical and still won't make any sense.. The only thing 1.1 will do is make an EJ stream watchable now with his 2,000 part transport ships. They might not be slide-shows now... but then again, this is Squad so I wouldn't be surprised to see very little actual difference in play.
  9. My planned modlist is to wait the 3months after 1.1 that it will take for modders to update their mods that will undoubtedly be broken. And then I'm sure I'll complain more about how Squad has nobody on staff that has half a clue about what we players want as far as contracts go and they will still be pointless and illogical.
  10. IMHO if they did a Kerbal Dept of Defense Program it would outsell KSP by 3 fold. Developing drones for different purposes (speed, up time, range, etc...), Spy satellites with varying purposes (spying, weather, taking out enemy satellites, etc..) that you can actually spy on your enemy with, Missiles (DUH!) of differing purpose (dumb bombs, altitude triggers, ballistic, conventional and nuclear warheads, cruise missiles, ground-to-air, air-to-ground, air-to-air, Maverick/Hellfire style TV guided.. etc.. ). Develop aircraft for different purposes (transport both heavy and light, bombers, fighters, helos).. All of this while having competition and enemy nations, trying to sell to governments. KSP could be integrated by making it a solar system-wide conflict so you would have to deliver supplies to other bodies.. I would start a kickstarter for this to be a standalone. I know there are some mods that give KSP a flavor of this and there are also those who would abhor the idea of violence... but doesn't that sound like where KSP should really go? I would drop $60 in a heartbeat if the game above existed within the realm of Kerbals.
  11. Cheating is going into the .cfg files and making units of fuel .00000001 in weight and giving an orange tank 3 trillion units of fuel. MechJeb is NOT cheating. It simply buffs out the saltiness from the grind of circularizing and spending 15 min to set up a rendezvous burn. It's a space program, if they wouldn't have some level of automation I'd be disappointed.
  12. Title says it all... Went to moon in a lander can for some science.. I EVA'd, collected science then when I re-boarded the ship I could not take off again to return to Kerbin because the game was considering him a tourist. I use Portrait Stats and that too shows his image with the camera instead of the pilot arrow. Can anyone help? Honestly, if I have to send a rescue I'm done with KSP for a long time...
  13. How do u launch a vehicle with a kerbal in the external command seat? It cannot be the first part and will not allow kerbals to be fit after placing it on something else.
  14. I agree. It's sad that they did not pay more attention to rovers, both mobile (Spirit, Opportunity, Curiousity) and just landers (viking, etc..). They are a VITAL part of any space program. They are the pioneers. They carry many instruments with purpose, not to mention the landing sites are chosen with purpose. I wish KSP had more of this. There needs to be a reason to visit each body. Probes/landers should have a much more vibrant role in the game.. not some crap rover body that a 3rd grader can produce in a computer class and some low-tec primitive circle on a stick wheel set. It all goes back to asking if Squad has any real creativity or logic on their dev team.
  15. Am I just crazy or doesn't time-warp exaggerate heating effects similar to how time-warp exaggerates air-intake?? That could be your flaw. Otherwise, you need to get into thicker atmo sooner.
  16. As usual, a new patch = total obliteration of the fun in the game unless you are into bland, boring, incoherent, illogical stock. What do they do that blows up so many mods so completely? Do they really change THAT much in the workings? Now we must wait for each mod to trickle in, and get updated constantly for weeks and weeks. No point in even trying to enjoy it until 1.1 which I'm sure will 2x the destruction of fun/mods, and then it will be another couple of months for things to finally settle and the game to once again be enjoyable and playable. Does Squad need someone to give them guidance and purpose in the game? A game designer perhaps? I'll start a Kickstarter and raise capital to buy the product and take it to where it should be going. just give me a number Squad and I'll be glad to take it off your hands. As it is now it would be the beta for what I would have in store. It's underwhelming and uninspiring at every turn. So we have buoyancy.. so what. Give us a reason to use it or even care. So we have an air breathing tiny set... so what. now you can go less distance and get there slower. Yeah its fun to play around the ksc with a seat and a kerbal... Just more uselessness and unplayability. I've never seen a product try so hard and not having a purpose. No, I don't like sandbox. What's the point of doing anything if you can do anything? I'm just gonna step back for a few months until its playable again. Post all the typical responses with attempts at humor and humiliation you desire.. just understand that I do not care and your attempts to aggravate me are futile. In fact, I'm just going to step away from the game for a few months until it appears to be at least somewhat playable again so I won't even be reading your responses.
  17. Is this normal? The 3 smaller green bubbles do not snap, but the big one will attach a larger engine. Is there something I am not aware of or will this be one of Squads after-patch-because-we-dont-let-smart-people-test hot fixes?
  18. I'd prefer they work on a logical, more in-depth contract system so that THIS comm system has more purpose and not just 'hey, look its Remote Tech Lite and you can already do this stuff with half a dozen mods and even better'. Contracts should be their #1 priority. Contracts should take you from your first probe to Mun all the way to landing a base on Eeloo. Give the game purpose. Playing in the sand is fun until you realize that you are just playing in sand.
  19. Looks better than average tbh. If you were to build one to be interplanetary then you should keep most of the mass as close to the same plane of the engines as you can. But for Kerbin that looks good.
  20. Can anyone give me a quick rundown on how/where stock contracts are generated in the KSP folders and the relationships. I'm determined to give the community the contract mod/fix it deserves since Squad has no idea what we want.
  21. I ran into this in the past.. Launch with the Mk1 Command Pod and Flea Booster only. This particular contract is somehow directly linked to the flea. Just more Contract idiocy from Squad.
  22. Don't forget the crap contract system that has you landing on Eve with 3,000 units of ore and requires you to launch from Eve with 3,000 units of ore... after your first Mun landing no less... Contracts are the cancer of the game.
  23. Contracts are the cancer of the game. They are so incoherent and illogical. So sad that Squad had such poor planning and execution, much less creativity and logic when designing the contract system. They need to give the game a modularized contract system where you can choose the pile of crap that exists now, or customize your own progression style that integrates with the tech tree and can adapt to mods that include modules. The way it is now gives the game no purpose other than to create your own goals in sandbox but you don't have the feel of progression or leveling that successful games have.
