  1. Those rescue contracts are sometimes very sad. I once got a rescue contract for a kerbal and his ship on Mun's orbit. Sure, no problem. Then, I found that it was a Mk3 Passenger module. With 1 kerbal in it. Where is the rest of the ship Where is the cockpit? WHAT HAPPENED HERE? HOW MANY OF THEM DIED? Unless they just launched single Mk3 Passenger module, without anything else and just one kerbal on board... makes sense, right?
  2. One core with HT has the performance of about 1.5 cores (it varies, sometimes you can get even 1.9, sometimes it's just 1.1). So, quad core with HT is like six core without it. Of course, you can only feel it if the program you are trying to run is multithreaded.
  3. I use them for my VTOLs and as a structural elements for my long range ship modules.
  4. "Auto-hire crewmembers before flight" ?
  5. You are aware that you can turn that off in the settings, right?
  6. Are you sure? If I have an object, and two vectors of force applied on opposite ends of this object, if the vectors have opposite signs, the body will not move, but rotate. How can you replace those two forces with just one?
  7. SQUAD could upload older versions at "beta versions". Paradox does this with Crusader Kings 2 and Europa Universalis 4. It would be the easiest way to downgrade the game, but SQUAD would have to upload them.
  8. There is this thing with Shadowplay - it can only record fullscreen applications. KSP by default starts in borderless windowed, and changing it in settings doesn't work ( there is a hack to force it though). Since Windows desktop can be treated as fullscreen application, shadowplay has a setting to just record everything on desktop. Probably your problem is that in previous version of Windows you were using "record desktop" mode of shadowplay to record KSP and update disabled it. Just enable it again in shadowplay's options. Or you can just get that hack to force fullscreen mode (borderless is better, so don't do it unless you have to)
  9. Of course, you just need a substance that absorbs the waves of the frequency you want. It's hard with gamma, they pass through most stuff, but with radio waves it's super-easy. That's basically what your radio antenna is doing
  10. It's not kelvin, it's kelvin. It's a kerbal unit, they replaced the first letter with 'k'.
  11. If you had one rocket, it would have some dV. If you had two identical rockets flying side by side, they would be able to cover exactly the same distance as the first one. It doesn't change anything if your rocket has a company or not. If you then connect those two rockets flying side by side... again, nothing would change That's exactly the same reason why heavier objects fall at the same speed as light ones. One rock falls the same as another one. If you connect them by a string, the new object would have the mass of two rocks, but the string doesn't change anything
  12. Before you get to ION engines, you have basically completed the tech tree anyway...
  13. I only clip parts if one could fit inside the other part. So, no clipping fuel tanks, but I clipped RTG reactor inside the Klaw (it's mostly empty inside anyway). This way I was able to make very small mobile Klaw (Klaw + RTG + probe core + round-8 + docking port + 2 spiders). It has a 1k or so delta-v, and can fly to an asteroid or something like that and any vessel with docking port can now dock to it. Or it can rescue kerbals and transport them to nearest ship. Without clipping RTG inside Klaw it would look stupid.
  14. Does shock cone mounted on the engine (backwards) provide air for the engine?
  15. To all the people who are underage and are applying anyway: Why do you do this? You know you won't be accepted and you are just giving additional work to a person who will have to deny all those invalid applications. Now imagine that this person could do some actual work to make KSP better in that time instead of having to go through all those requests... Also, if you can't fill this form correctly, how do you expect Squad to believe you can fill a bug report?
  16. I think there is too much work with all that docking - I have Mk3 supply ship with ISRU - it lands, makes fuel and then if other ship needs it, it takes off and flies to it. Sure, it's not the most efficient way, but I save lots of time by not doing all those runs to orbital stations...
  17. I don't know about Occulus, but when I'm using nvidia 3D vision, shadows are not rendered correctly. Other than that, it does look pretty nice in 3D.
  18. You don't have to put airbrakes in action groups - they are in the default "brake" group.
  19. It's best to switch to "stabilize" SAS mode when you are close to your heading. If you switch to stabilize and then back to heading, it's much less shaky.
  20. There are two ways to do it. Either make your plane a VTOL, by placing engines or lots of vernors on the bottom and land normally. Or, just land it as you would a normal lander, engine down and try to get your speed to 0 when you are 10 meters or so (depending on the size of your plane) above the ground, then rotate it to horizontal position (lots of reaction wheels or RCS helps) and land it.
  21. 0.1 of 1.0 is 10%. 9 rams = 10 shocks. That was my conclusion as well...
  22. I created a supply ship - with large tanks, ISRU unit. It was VTOL spaceplane, capable of landing and launching from any planet/moon without atmosphere in kerbol system (and some smaller ones with atmosphere). I made a test landing on Minmus, only to discover that ISRU won't work without ore tanks...
  23. Rotating your orbit to different inclination is most efficient at apoapsis, if your orbit is highly elliptic. Your speed at AP is probably just 50 m/s or something like that, so you can even stop your craft and start moving in the same orbit in opposite direction
