Incentive for Space Stations
_stilgar_ replied to TheEpicSquared's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
As I remember one of the devs said, that is basicly the idea behind the current tourist contract. You get a contract to send one tourist to Eve fly-by, another to Jool and third to Minmus. So, you should send them all to a space station, and when you have a mission to Eve, you dock, pick up the tourist and go there. Another ship goes to Jool. This way you have all those space hotels with tourists waiting for their transport to arrive. No need to make every tourist contract a grand tour project -
I saw in one of the streams that there are buttons in Kerbnet in top left corner that switch the view between heightmap and biome map. Probably, when you have Narrow Band Scanner, there is a third icon, to show resources. EDIT: And a confirmation from one of the developers:

Boxed Version
_stilgar_ replied to ZooNamedGames's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I know retro gaming. Civilization 1 feels much better when you run it on ancient 486sx with 4MB ram than when it's just in a doxbox window. But I got rid of most of my old computers, they were taking too much space in my home The thing is - the PC is a PC. It doesn't matter if it's from 2001 or 2016. If I want to play a game from 2001, let's say, Freelancer, I'm not going to play it on Pentium III machine with Windows 98. Why would I? I already have a PC. And luckily, there are people who made mods that enable me to play Freelancer on modern operating systems (and also in HD). And the thing about CDs and DVDs... I have lots of games on disks. I also own them on Steam (sometimes I bought games more than once, just to have it available online). With fast internet connection, it's faster to download the game than to find it on a shelf -

But you are still going to have a working DVD drive and a computer that can use it? Really? That would be like, wanting to play the game from the 80s by plugging a tape recorder to your PC and trying to get it to play it. You can download the games from the 80s from the internet. If they were popular, they most likely have communities that make sure they work. Or, other community writes a emulator, so you can have your old computer in your new computer (like DosBox). I'm sure that in the 2046 it will be easier to download the KSP from the Internet (or other network) than to read the DVD with the game. -

The tech tree progression is ridiculous
_stilgar_ replied to Wjolcz's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
This is ridiculous. Average KSP player played the game for maybe 100 h... but let's say it's 1000 h. 0.1% would meant they learned the game in the first hour. They must be genius. It took me 10 hours to learn how to orbit properly and come back safe, next 10h to get to the Mum and land there. 10 hours to get to other planet. Same amount for rendezvous and docking. So I would have to play for 50 000 hours for that 0.1% to be true. But maybe I'm just stupid. But if I'm not stupid, most players are in tutorial mode for 10-50 % of their game time. -
1.1 is seriously bugged, but comes it as a surprise...
_stilgar_ replied to Temeter's topic in KSP1 Discussion
This doesn't make any sense. So, you'd have to play 1.0.5 for 2 more weeks... and guess what, you can still do that. 1.0.5 is still available. State of 1.1.2 doesn't change that. So, vacation before or after release of 1.1 doesn't change the number of bugs, but if you want, you can play 1.1. So, release before vacations makes more sense. -
Just click that "Like this" button with a heart icon below the post.

1.1 is going to change how joysticks work in ksp ?

The Unofficial News About KSP Posted On Other Sites Thread!
_stilgar_ replied to Robotengineer's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Whoa... fantastic indeed. Did they mention this view mode in any of the dev diaries? I don't think they did, but it's an awesome feature! -
But he said he uses the ramp and I'm curious why he didn't line up the floor of the ramp with the floor on the bay.
-
Those wheels will change to different model, so the height may change as well. One question though - Why is your cargo bay upside down ?
-
Are you equally opposed to working for someone for free? Because that's what testing the pre-release version is...
-
And they can just wait two weeks? We've been waiting for 1.1 since May 2015. Do those two more weeks even matter? If they wanted to find bugs so bad, they should've applied to be in Experimental team.

You can always buy another copy on Steam. This game is worth it, isn't it?
-
Not really. You only have to copy KSP folder somewhere else and that's it. You can play it just fine without Steam.
-
No, you need to read the original post. It said we'll be able to opt-in two weeks before release. I guess it's too early
-
Dresbas' craft already exists - it's in orbit, with a Kerbal you have to rescue. Just fly there and somehow land it back on Kerbin.

Yes, but Steam may not see it has to update the game for some time. When you see on the forums that other people are playing 1.1 and you still have 1.0.5, restart Steam. If that doesn't help, verify the game cache.
