Back in November I met a researcher from Japan on a conference who managed to create a strain of bacteria that can produce plastic from CO2 and hydrogen.

I suggested it right after the BFR presentation, 100 or so pages back on SpaceX thread. Make governments pay to keep their criminals away from Earth. Use the money and convict labor to build up the colony and prepare the infrastructure for the arrival of "real" free colonists a couple of decades later...

@sevenperforceThe difference between 2x and 3x booster recovery is huge. You sure it's accurate?
-
Can you just make your point without giving vague examples from more than a century ago that may or may not be relevant to BFR? I have no reason not to trust SpaceX's cost-per-launch estimates.
-
Any payload that's profitable to launch on a single F9, will be even more profitable on BFR, if their infographics is to be believed.
-
1) Different satellites have different launch windows, inclinations and orbit heights. 2) Sometimes waiting for half a year is not an option. 3) Launching them all at once bears a risk of losing them all at once. Multiple launches are safer that way.
-
You got it wrong. BFR cost per launch will be much lower than any other rocket, even Falcon 1. It won't accumulate payloads, instead it will launch payloads that are way smaller and cheaper than what's economically viable for Falcon 9, and still make profit.
-
You could at least google that.
-
I expect delays, but not a lot of major design changes. I think the design is pretty solid already, at least for the cargo version. Last year’s downscaling of ITS was primarily because of operational reasons, so they can use existing facilities to build BFR.
-
They can’t waste time and resources on human rating FH because New Glenn is coming, and they really need to have BFR soon in order to not get squashed by BO.
-
-
That’s a good problem to have.
-
Did BO announce any cost estimates for their NG launches?
-
You said that like 4 times already, no need to repeat, we get it. Maybe you can show the reasons WHY do you think it's impossible, other than "It's not happening, not even a remote possibility, not in 30 years"? Because @tater, @_Augustus_ and others made some pretty good points which you don't seem to address.

PAZ badge. No sign of Starlink sats though.
-
It takes two round trips. One is between you and the sat, the other is between the sat and the server you’re trying to reach. That’s 15 ms.
-
Can't help thinking that this whole 12,000 sat project is just a cover-up for some sort of secret doomsday weapon. Like mind-controlling every human on the planet with brain wave-generating satellites or something even crazier. Hmm, I think Elon said something about zombie apocalypse...

So that you can crash it into Laythe?

I’m used to fighting creepers with 1s delay
-
Not to mention the signal delay. I don’t think you’ll be able to play online games with it.
