Thanks I won't cause I have a bad computer! Thank you
-
Gotten two of my newest SSTOs to work, which sadly are both a copy of the Aeries 4a with some drawbacks and minor improvements.
-
Okay, I've updated some of the scoring and rules to make it more clear, tell me if I've missed something out. It really helps.
-
Actually doing it now - - - Updated - - - Anything that refuels without a separate lander counts. I like your idea, gonna actually try to do that one day... - - - Updated - - - I'll say this: that was not part of a challenge involving this. - - - Updated - - - Minor updates to scoring done.
-
Eve must be landed on. SSTO usage means no orbital assembly, runway takeoff, all planets take off and landing with an Kerbin SSTO (it can dispose of stuff to get to the other planets - only needs to be SSTO for Kerbin). Actually I might change the scoring a bit to suit people's needs tomorrow. It's 9pm where I live (Australia) so I have all night.
-
Okay I've posted a challenge for people on the Challenges Forum, but thank you for this info! it will be useful!
-
Hello! I asked on the forums not that long ago asking if it was possible to explore the whole Kerbol system with one ship only. Turns out its difficult, but not impossible. So, here it is: I want to challenge you to make a full exploration of the Kerbol System, according to the rules below, and you will be scored on the following system. Make sure you read all the rules and scoring. NOTE: If you want to use multiple crafts that do not dock in LKO here is a more suitable challenge: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/136742-THE-SOLAR-SYSTEM-EXPRESS%28es%29-CHALLENGE Rules: You must visit every celestial body in the Kerbol System You must use ONLY one ship. A refuelling lander is allowed, but it wont get any extra points, and must be built-in unless specified below: Constructing in orbit is allowed, but again, wont get any extra points. SSTOs and space planes will earn so much more points. You don't have to land, only enter the SOI. Mods that are allowed: MechJeb (I'll explain later) Kerbal Engineer Redux RealChute Parachute Systems B9 Aerospace for those people still on 0.90.0 New Planet Mods [*]Mods that are not allowed: Anything that adds in new fuel tanks/engines except B9 Anything that changes physics except FAR and DRE, not that it does so [*]NO CHEATING AT ALL!!! Point System: Stock: Have kerbals on your craft: 100 points per Kerbal (extra 10 if one's controlling it) Use a probe: 10 points Have a refuelling lander: 0 points The reason for this is that it is practically a must for most ships trying to do this anyway, but you still can use it. Not having a refuelling lander (only with kerbals): 20000 points - extra 1000 for a refuelling SSTO (thank you, tseitsei, for pointing out the difficulty of this) [*]Collect Science: 1 point/1 Science - this means about 14000 points in a brand new save and all collected [*]Use an SSTO: 20000 points - as in Kerbin SSTO, not an SSTO for other planets [*]Use a spaceplane: 5000 points [*]Return to Kerbin: 5000 [*]Survive an Eve descent: 10000 points Cool, Right? Return to orbit from Eve: 40000 points Use an SSTO: 20000 extra [*]Land on everything but Jool and the Sun: 30000 points, not including previous for Eve, extra 30000 if return to orbit [*]Land on Jool: To be decided (rules: you must stop with no velocity (use KER for checking thisor acceleration, and must have landing gear/legs deployed and no parachutes deployed (impossible)) [*]Not on Sandbox: 1000 points [*]Time taken: 1000 points per day for remaining time to 10 years mark [*]Style+Size of Rocket: Ill determine that Mods: Use mods: Part mods: only those that don't add engines or fuel tanks, list all mods in your craft/install if you have them FAR: 2000 points DRE: Depends on the G-Force effects TACLS: 1 point for every day that a Kerbal does not die. After one does, point collection will stop. Say the date that a Kerbal dies to make it easier for me. MJ2:0 Because it's hard to get Tranfers [*]KER:0 [*]Any stat mods:0 [*]Placement helpers:0 [*]Autopilot: kOS: 10000 other: 0 [*]New planets: Ill decide with the mods that add them. Leaderboards:

Name Score

1. EvermoreAlpaca 137592 (first person) (points lost due to not being a fresh campaign)

2.

3.

I'm done with that, so, any questions and Ill answer them! FAQ: Have you done this yet? Look at my signature. Less than a YEAR and I haven't done manned interplanetary yet. EDIT: I JUST LANDED ON DUNA! And returned. And overshot. And crashed into the moon. Whats the similarity with the newer challenges posted on the forum? People just don't look through older posts before posting new challenges on the forum.mIf you bothered to read them you will have noticed that I posted on the newest thread repeating this. Why is this hard? Thats the point. - - - Updated - - - Also, NO HYPEREDIT
-
Well, maybe a challenge will go up to see who can do it with the refueler. Maybe. - - - Updated - - - Or without one... - - - Updated - - - Okay I'm making a challenge for this if there hasn't been one.
-
How 'bout manned?
-
Hello, I've been wondering for a while if it's possible to make a rocket that visits every celestial object, maybe including a random asteroid, in stock KSP without refuelling. Anyone got anything? P.S. No infinite fuel please, and I don't care about landings I could put this on the challenge forum if wanted, but for now this is not a challenge. Sorry I don't have anything to show off All I want to see is who has done it.
-
Dammit I've got to try this!!
-
Ok, other than aerobraking on Eve (I had only played for a month and with DRE on 0.90.0) I confess that underestimating my first proper SSTO in 1.0.4 was... Not good. I accidentally undershot my landing and landed in water, and only the capsule survived, just to be eaten by the Kraken. And when I launched a probe to Eeloo, I stupidly traded a fail trajectory with a scrape of Eeloos surface, which destroyed my probe. And after I crashed the SSTO I went to check on the remnants of the probe and it blew up the space centre after glitching out. Lesson: restart sandbox saves.
-
Why didn't I think of that? Oh wait, I'm too busy trying to blow up the Mun... :D
-
The micronode actually has uses: tiny space stations, tiny probes, structural elements... For tiny probes. Anyway I never use Mk2&3 parts or the girders in rockets or planes. I also never use the Mk1-2 lander because... I don't know why...
-
Don't use the Thud because when I made something with it, I blew up the whole space centre. IN CAREER!!!
-
New one: forgetting about my Saturn V rocket and putting it on a transfer to Jool. My definite biggest fail... Unless I love reentry, which I do.
-
I usually have a Pe of 45km and aerobrake my way down. Not helpful if you have TACLS and you're out of food, but good if reentry doesn't help. I use this method after returning to Kerbin after an interplanetary mission.
-
Almost a kms on the runway: strapping ten BACC SRBs to wheels. Also with rockets to keep it on the ground. To bad it exploded due to reentry heating. im kidding, more like 500.
-
Mission Control: Kerbal X Number 73672: Come in please!! Jebediah: *crackle Housten, We'Ve had a problem. Mission Control: Wait, what happened?? MechJeb: He's... Floating around in space around target body 6 Minmus. MC: How... MJ: He ran out of EVA fuel. This is in sandbox though. In my career, crying because there is no money for new rockets to send him to other planets.
-
What is your record number of flights in a save?
RA3236 replied to Bubbadevlin's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I've only gotten about ten, but I glitched out Custom Asteroids and I ended up with 10843 asteroids on count, not that asteroids don't count as flight. Laggy as hell. -
Aerobraking on Eve with a Pe of 50km and travelling 5000kms on Soi change.
-
How far have you gone in Kerbal Space Program?
RA3236 replied to Columbia's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Long story short: Eeloo and beyond. Long: the rocket that sent that kamikaze probe could only launch kerbals to Minmus. In career, LKO. Seriously, I'm a sandbox person. And for planet visits that were fair: Kerbol: crashed, escaped from SOI Moho: I think I got a probe there once, but that was it. Eve: burned up on aerobraking. Kerbin Career: LKO. Over wise visited everything with Mechjeb. Duna: Attempted landing, but parachutes didn't deploy. Dres: Not even close to getting to it. Jool: Gravity assist for my trip to Eeloo. To help I used Tylo and Laythe. Eeloo: Okay, I lied about the kamikaze thing. What happened was that I was trying to get out of Kerbols Soi and to do so in that trip I scraped the surface and destroyed my generator... It was a good thing that I had emergency solar panels, not that they worked. And before you ask, I've been playing since January. And I always use mods that don't add in engines and fuel tanks, which does mean I use Mechjeb. Actually I pulled out my Eeloo trip without it when I found out that my LKO heavy lifter could go to Eeloo sending a probe and I was like, I didn't know my Minmus probe had 17km/s of delta v!!!! And yes, that was in 0.90.0. I won't be able to pull it off again for a while... Sorry for the excessive rambling on about a mistake... -
Hi, I've been looking around everywhere for something that adds binary or ternary planets, preferably with Kopernicus and Sigma Binary, but I haven't been able to find any. Can someone please help, I can't make one because Space Engine doesn't work on my computer and I can't get planets inside SOIs without major collisions (yes, gas giants). Repeat: planets, not stars. It would be helpful if someone showed me a mod that exists, rather than waiting for someone to make one. - - - Updated - - - Actually, maybe if someone spent all week trying to get it done, I'd be fine with that, as long as other people will enjoy it.
-
Hyper Edit can't really calculate SOI changes in the game, so it pretty much just puts you into a orbit around the body you specified - this crashes the game. Which is why I go Alt-F12 Infinite fuel and launch a rocket to get there without worrying about fuel. Actually, now thinking about it... HyperEdit has a few issues with RemoteTech, which is recommended for RSS. It could be the cause of the NaN part of the problem - reinforced with the Kraken (but I don't know which one).
